REST IN LOVE, MY BROTHA. I worked in Handsworth, Birmingham and I'm sure/think I met Benjamin in 86-87. I worked on Grove Lane and was running the first Cable TV to all the houses in that area opposite Handsworth Park. I remember going into a Mans House on York Rd who was a DreadLocks and having a great chat with him. Was it Benjamin....., I always thought it was when I was much older and saw him on TV. I hope it was, and if anyone knows if he ever lived in Handsworth near the Park, let me know. You left your mark on this World and represented us Jamaican Brummies in the best way. Thank you. 📜Benjamin Zephaniah. A Man Of Letters.
Rest in power Benjamin Zephaniah. We never met one another, but I will never forget you brother. Two socialist souls, with well meaning goals and hearts that were joined at the lip. We may take a pause, before continuing your cause to mourn your passing, and to celebrate your passion for the suffering of others, for the fathers and mothers who's children went hungry last night. We'll pick up your pencil and use it to stencil, the words injustice is no justice at all. So rest easy brother, till we do meet each other in the stars that sparkle for all...
