"I'm also a contractor" This man is really hardworking towards his works..
Never miss a chance to sell your services
next thing we know he's johnny sins
@Jutsall he needs to do is "Damn, i messed up, we gotta go bald"
Bro's all in one
Miss his days as an Exo
After this, the old people dissappear. And they find out they were using the place to rent to pornography directors to film.
Thx for explanation
Deadass 💀 shit they freaky
And making like triple the monthly rent a week doing so
They bout to be like: rent? Whaaaat? My bad
You give off Malibu's most wanted vibes
Lol. My bad = I royally screwed up, and I have no excuse.
@John DeNardisin this case it meant: "i knew exactly what i was doing and had no intention on ever paying rent"
oh gosh am I ever sorry we don't have the 5k of debt at the moment! We've been struggling lately and 3k is just too much to bear today. I promise I'll hand deliver the debt in full on wednesday, all 1 thousand dollars!
They'll have to skip the caviar lunches for a few weeks.
Is this thing from the tv show ?
@Andrei Arhiri It from a show called "The Rookie". Funny thing is, they don't skip Caviar, they skip town, and clear the whole place out on the way out.
There is no way you are allowed to do payment collections for your fiancé as a police officer
Technically as long as the act falls under a purview that officers would do anyways it can be fine, though it’s a fine line
They can if it is in the script.
Yeah. Scam artists. They'll be there until the landlord's dead and gone.
Nope, they left and cleaned the place out. They were actually using it to film porn.
@DarkwingI wish I was there when it happened
@Darkwingdats crazy, i thought u were cappin until i read more comments 💀 wtf is this show called
@icyclestickit's called the Rookie. This is from season 4 I think.
This looks like an insane lawsuit waiting to happen
Yeah a cop in uniform trying to intimidate tents.
Good thing it’s a tv show!
Right I was trying to say is this legal in the us ?
@Kyler Hartwick I know and it’s entertaining but
“You’ll get your rent when you fix this damn door”
WHERE IS MY RENT!!!!
You pay now!
I missed the part where what was my problem
I retired from LAPD. He would be fired for this.
@alonebitts12 using his authority to promote his personal business. They are there only on official police business. Promoting yourself to benefit your pocket is considered corruption, and abuse of power.
@Ricky Bustoswouldn't he be doing the work for free since it's fiance's house?
He's not really representing the police, he's taking personal time on a break to represent his fiance
and who will be filing the complaint, surely not these shady old buggers
Nobody has more charm than Nathan Fillion.
so TRUE!!! I have seen this show so many times and only because of him
In walks Tommy Shelby
@Dr Prabhsimranjeet SinghNo lmao
@Dr Prabhsimranjeet Singhtommy is cool but if you think he's charming...
old people like gaslighting/lying since people are getting mad over a comment 🤭
I think that you think gaslighting is lying
I agree with the other guy, you don't know what gaslighting means
I don’t think you know what gaslighting is. They lie not gaslight
As an old person. Get stuffed.😅
"Dont reply if youre going to call out my stupidity" hahaha...and its "*couldn't* care less"
You'll get your rent when you fix this damn door 🚪
Best you really can do with those kind of people would be to involve a debt collector and send in the eviction notice with a copy to the city council which includes the reason. (Evaded rent for six months. The end.) Because those kind of people will just continue in their ways and expect to get away with it forever. Best to be no longer your problem as you sell their debt to a kabal of lawyers. (The six months plus whatever is the moveout date, plus whatever time over that which you can actually change to uncomfortably high with some limits.) Ofcourse that debt collector company will start adding interest onto those fuckers.
Or they could just try to be understanding as people do fall on hard times sometimes and not be able to get the money those are senior citizens are on a very fixed income in the rent could be too much coming from a disabled person who has very much trouble coming up with her rent at the beginning of each month
They skip town and were filming porn.
What state do you live in that you can hand over rent collection to a debt collection agency?
That's a pretty heartless thing to say - they may have fallen on hard times as senior citizens with only a pension to live on. Wait till you get to that point in life, perhaps you'll have a better understanding then.
How the heck does this guy look even better than he did in Castle?
Oh my God, I love Castle! I think he looks in both. But I still love Firefly Nathan Fillion the most! 💜
@L D I was too young to appreciate Firefly when it firsr came out but damn, Nathan Fillion looks so damn cool in that show. He just fits the rogue, Han Solo-esque archetype so well.
I just loved the “oh 🎶mAlCom🎶 "
And these nice old people are fliming a porn movie in Bailey 's house hahahah😅
What's the name of the show?
@Aadarsh Kthe rookie
I honestly expected them to have a hostage somewhere tied up😅
Same, they gived off this creepy "inosint" old couple vibe.
They did have people tied up in there but not because they were kidnapped 💀
@Thy Trombone Huh?!🥴
That's what we call a conflict of interest.
I wonder what kind of job they have
The old couple rented the house off too porn producers for more then what they where supposed to be paying for rent
They rent the house to people that make porn
I mean, what is not to love about those sweet elders 😊
Wait till he finds out
Surely they wouldn’t do something like let the place be used to shoot adult films, right?
Ok I know this is a cop show so accuracy is like the last thing on their list when making this but wouldn't it be super illegal to act out actions of an officer on behalf of a family member or friend? 😂
I mean… probably not when its something you’re supposed to do as a cop regardless
Nah, officers can respond to anything they would be part of either way. The key issue is that they wouldn't be allowed to enter places with emotional conflict like a school shooting at their kid's school.
He's more then likely just got off duty.
@PhoenixFiresIf I were a cop and some monster would be shooting up my kids school they should consider themselves lucky the shooter would still be recognisable after I've gone in
@PhoenixFiresbro this is a really bad example of the situation, there is not a single cop who would stop another cop from rushing in his kids school while a shooter is inside. It would be considered an emotional conflict because even if not true in this case, he could very well have a personal issue with them since they are screwing over his fiancé. Yes it is a normal police activity and at least he said it was his fiancé and didn’t appear to be using his badge to force anything, so I think it would probably be okay but if they reported it I guarantee his superiors would tell him to never do shit like that again
That would count as shake down. Late on rent is a civil matter.
It's a tv show
In California, eviction papers can be filed 3 days after non-payment of rent in accordance with the renting laws. Bailey gave them 6 months of leeway or she's been extremely generous by filing it but not following through until 6 months later.
@Jaden ThomSo? It's a TV show based in real life. They could do a better job of making it realistic.
@PhoenixFiresit’s still a civil matter. This stuff gets really weird. Trespassing is criminal, but squatting is a civil dispute. And squatting doesn’t become trespassing until an eviction notice ratified by the courts. Which then the police might get involved, but usually once it’s got to that point, there’s no more “well we’ll pay the rent and then we’re all good”
@PhoenixFiresThe fiancée didn't file eviction papers. She asked a cop to intimidate her tenants into paying the rent.
Dude tries to collect rent for his fiance and plugs his own contracting business while in uniform...holy conflict of interest. Police don't even collect rent from people, fiancé or not. Weird
Bro works every job
"Malcolm!""Ma'am, it's Captain Reynolds to you"
I can’t look at this guy without picturing Buck before he was an ODST
Having your cop fiancee intimidate tenants while on duty and in uniform. They're about to own the house themselves after the lawsuit
You show up in uniform to intimidate your wifes customer. Accurate
Modern problems equals modern solutions😂
Honestly Nolan is all over this
They were doing adult filming and skimming the money off the top, they were gone Wednesday and dude and his girl had to clean up the mess 😭😭😭
“You just shoot them over to me.”The old man : Takes out his Glock and shoots the rusted pipe all the way over to him.
Kick them out and sue them.
I rember when I lived with a friend of mine. We rented a place and he was in charge of paying for things with the money I sent him.Lowe and behold me waking up at 5 a. m. to see the infuriated landlord asking about the rent and utilities, it had been 2 months.Well, after properly hospitalizing my mate to the horror of the landlord who basically froze, I threw him out, with his stuff, everything off a flight of stairs. So I invited the lad to the kitchen, poured myself some gin, gave him some soda cause btw, he drove 3 hours for that BS.I paid for the stuff again.Haven't seen my mate since. Last time was when the landlord left and he was busy bleeding and trying to gather his stuff. 😂
Always easier to kick out real looking poor people than old rich looking people who are nicely speaking their way out.
Nothing says "conflict of interest" like being the fiance of the landlord, collecting rent while in uniform and on duty, and soliciting work as a contractor.
Lmao of course the main character in this cop show is engaged to a landlord, the showrunners really know their target audience
This whole series "The Rookie" dialogues feel like a gta v strangers and freak dialogues
if they fix the house but not their belongings it can be discounted from the landlord's payment, as if you were using that money to fix it.
In uniform means the LAPD cannot act as an agent for the landlord
Here in Ireland our useless government, that's so far behind in housing, has made it very difficult for landlords to kick out tenants that aren't paying... a lot of said tenants are exploiting it, especially during the eviction ban a while ago.
a cop is a contractor as well 😂imagine pulling up to a domestic disturbance and someone threw a chair through the drywall and hes like “you knowww i could fix that for you after you get out of prison” 😉
"Rookie" great series to binge!
They should get an eviction notice
spoiler: they were sub-letting the rented house as a location for other people to film adult films, which meant they were in violation of the agreement and could be kicked out. the old folks made a racket off renting out for filming tho
Cops can’t use public position for personal gain like this. He should’ve recused himself from this situation.
After scrolling through a few comments I've noticed no one talking about the elderly man deducting some money from the rent for maintenance issues. Tenants cannot do such a thing unless they inform their landlords of the issues and the landlords don't get to fixing them in a suitable time frame. If you don't tell your landlord of the issues you are not allowed to deduct from rent because the landlord wouldn't know of such issues to get fixed.
Cops using their authority outside of work should be illegal.
Bro, any maintenance issues are technically the landlord's problem
Don't care if they're scam artists or whatever but using your authority as a cop and demonstrating connection to their landlord by saying she's your fiancee screams abuse of authority
Scammers always gonna be scammers even when they 80+ years old 💀
“ the rent is tied up “ look at their basement
Kick them tf out.
I did not have the temperament to own rental properties. Luckily the tenants teach you quick.
This is when some rather large individualsthat you know personally, sit outside the home to prevent a possible 'escape'.
Ironically the worst thing he does here is solicit in uniform. Officers CANNOT solicit while in duty period
Now I can say I watched the whole show on yt shorts without even knowing the show's name 😂😂
Plot twist “it’s tied up in the basement”
Betting anything somebody is tied up in that house and that’s where their money is “tied up” at while they try to get ransom.
For anyone wondering. This is from a show called "the rookie"
When I heard Malcom I thought Jeff Goldblum would go to the door
That’s a major abuse of power…
We need more good like this
When he said the money is a bit tied up rn i was expecting to see a person tied up in another room
Sounds like he's abusing his position by wearing his uniform while demanding rent for a family remember that's a landlord. No good, you cannot do that. He'd have to be out of uniform to do this.
Cops and landlords - my favorite people.
Dang, a cop, a contractor, an ODST, and a Spartan? He's the next Johnny Sins
Yeah, after 3 months of not paying they would have been out one way or another. They refuse to leave and manipulate the law to their advantage so will I. Next trip I make I will see an infestation that demands tenting of the house. While they are gone I'll have two teams come in and move them out. Putting everything of theirs into a storage unit in their name. If they are nice and leave it at that. They will get the address of the unit. If not, they won't.
Talk about abusing the courtesy card, they need to go thru the same eviction process everyone else has to
Old guy sounds like Winnie the Pooh
Maintenance fees cannot be deducted from rent unless you notified the owner of the issues. If you notified them and they dont do anything you can act on your own accord but before that you cannot
me only seeing clips of this show i refuse to believe that this old couple didn’t send the armed man after Bailey
That's conflict of interest and abuse of police power. You can't be the eviction officer and a contractor.
What are they moonlighting as landlords? Cops don’t care about enforcing rent payments. Cops or processors will come for a judge ordered eviction with a writ but not late rent alone.
Oooy veey, dudes name must be shekelberg
“The money is tied up at the moment”? Yeah ok who’s in the basement
When he said the money was tied up my mind went to a whole other situation
It’s actually legal to take repair costs out of your rent payments in some states
landlords are thieves
This is an actual thing you can pay less rent if you are forced to make maintenance cost however, the fact that he did not notify the landlord of those fixes means that he is not liable for that lesser rent
If your tenants tell you or the police that they have maintenance issues on the property they have not brought up to the landlord, start lawering up, they gonna try to sue you for not fixing them, bc the dumb law is on their side on these things.
Anyone notice he said " we have the money, its just TIED UP SHOULDN'T BE ANY LONGER."
So the police just act like personal things to intimidate the renters?
Landlords provide housing in the same way that scalpers provide concert tickets.
I fucking love the rookie too bad about the writers strike
Correct me if I'm wrong, but can a Los Angeles police officer collect money for a landlord AND solicit a business deal while on the job?
"solar frikkin roadways!" 😂
Give them notice to leave. If you do not pay the rent then you do not get to stay. Six months is ridiculous. They should have been breached the first time the rent was not paid. Not breaching them gives the impression that you will not pursue the matter. You have actually trained them into thinking that rent is not mandatory. It is a commercial and legal arrangement. If they do not meet their obligations then they have to GO and a paying renter needs to take their place.
Tis a show
@Pickle Lover - Yep, it is a show. l do not know why the title is "Nolan visits elders about late rent" as it makes no difference about how old the Tenants are. I do NOT approve of Nolan turning up in a Police Uniform though. It would have been better if he turned up out of uniform with the Landlord as this is a clear breach of power..The non-payment of rent is a common problem caused by dishonest renters and Landlords not doing their jobs by enforcing their contracts. I blame both parties. The Tenants should have been breached the very first time they did not pay their rent. The Tenants tried their luck and learnt that the Landlord is weak. .So - pay your rent or get out as there are other people who would gladly pay rent to live in the property.
Is that woman still waiting on Ray Finkle to come home?
The gentle jerk. Reminds me of me.
Anyone else find it kinda depressing that in America most service people like police and firefighters have to have second jobs?
Pretty sure it’s illegal for a cop to intimidate people into paying rent
I like the police officer - he does good things for people.I'm very upset he's collecting rent of such elderly people in his police uniform . Likely to scare them. I hate rent dodgers and I love the police .I wish police could get involved in rent disputes and evictions as a landlady I can frankly tell you.
…for some reason why did i feel like there is something going on right here lemme re-check-Edit: so when the guy said “But we have the money, i-its just tied up”… IS IT A PERSON MAYBE?!
A couple hundred off? Who agreed to that
If the resident pays for repairs/maintenance themselves, the total cost can be taken off of the amount to rent they owe.
@Lord GNKBut if they are not following the rental agreement about notifying landlord about maintenance issues, then they may not be able to due not following rules of contract.
If a cop shows up at my door because I owe their family money I’m calling the police
If a police officer tries to pull this on you, tell him it is a civil matter not criminal, then report him for it to te police since he is clearly using his uniform to intimidate in a civil matter that is out of his jurisdiction
"Rent" and "door" normally triggers a certain memory within people... I wonder what it was🤔
What he did is sooooooo illegal. hahahahahaha
Yeah, cash flow problem. Throw them out
Now thats called a conflict of interests
