I heard the Angelic Upstarts for the first time in 1981 at school and it was so great ! so many great songs, anthems in fact ! Saw them in Rennes for the first time a few years ago and I was lucky to go backstage to speak with Mensi. Such a nice man ! I won't forget it ! I was lucky enough to see him again backstage in Paris. He dedicaced all my Lp's and joked as well. Nice moment .... I will always remember it. RIP Mensi

When we compare Punk bands, we can disagree on this bands got the speed, that band has the energy, this other band has the attitude etc. The reason the Angelic Upstarts have been blowing the UK Subs, Cockney Rejects, Exploited and even the Damned off the stage at the all dayers is cos the Angelic Upstarts have got the anger.
Agreed Kevin. The Upstarts were the real deal, a proper working-class punk band, who were great. I still remember buying "Teenage Warning" in '79. An amazing album. Have always admired their political stance. Just wonder where their politics is now, with the current UK mess of Brexit.
