I live near Philadelphia and so many locals go no further than the Jersey shore for their vacations 🤮. I starting doing all inclusive Mexico 5 years ago and never looked back! My first Mexico all inclusive was the barcelo owned Occidental Xcaret and I was completely blown away! I also went to the barcelo Caribe for my honeymoon and was not disappointed, though I loved the Xcaret resort much more. As far as the US is concerned, Key west is definitely worth checking out and we did also have a wonderful time at the Carousel hotel in OC MD. I plan on going back to the Occidental Xcaret next year. Can't wait. Thanks for your review!

Just stayed at Maya Beach for 9 days and it was amazing! snack bars were great, and it wasnt until our 6th day we found out just past USpa theres dolphins, and a desk where you can sign out water tricycles and other water sports gear for free! Left of the Riviera Maya sign behind the place where you book jetskis. Theres also a Go Kart track on site which we never got around to doing. Would highly recommend any of these resorts, especially the premium level as it includes free room service! Also, cabs to walmart is atrocious! 1100 pesos to get from beach to walmart and back, as we were leaving to the airport I overheard a fellow vacationer mention if you stand near the road outside the main gates, shuttle buses will pass by and flash their lights at you to say they have room, you flag them down and its around 150 to 200 pesos per person for transportation. I may be able to answer any other questions in comments if need be! :)

Question: how to get from airport to the resort? Is there a shuttle bus from the airport or you have to use uber/cab?
There is no shuttle - so either a taxi or Uber - or you can google airport transfers 👍🏻
Great video! My wife and kids just booked our trip to this resort for this upcoming July and we couldn’t be more excited! Are the sports bar drinks and food included with your stay?
Yes, the drinks and snacks are included at the sports bar 👍🏻 enjoy your trip!
A bit of walking issues, esp. on stairs. do you know if there are elevators going up to above ground floor rooms? How is the towel saving game? can you find enough places to sit?
They have accessible rooms on the main level - no elevators - so you have to tell them you can’t do stairs 👍🏻 yes, you do play the towel saving game, but there was plenty of room by the pool/beach when we went 👍🏻
Going to this resort in August. You mentioned that you can access the other sister resorts nearby, but can you also eat at their restaurants?
Yes you can! 🙌🏻 u can visit and eat at Tropical, Colonial and Beach

It’s all-inclusive! You can eat at any of the buffets at Caribe, Tropical, Colonial and Beach. You can also eat at any of the ala carte restaurants at all 4 hotels for free as well 👍🏻
We are arriving in August with our 3 young children and concerned a little bit about the party atmosphere that we keep reading about. We are booked to stay in the Caribe but are wondering if best to upgrade to the Palace for a more a family vibe. Would you recommend or will be okay at the Caribe? Thank you!
We didn’t witness much of a party vibe at Caribe. There are lots of families at Caribe and plenty of children’s activities as well. Both hotels are well suited to kids, but if you prefer the palace, they have a great splash pad for the little ones.
Is there a charge for the beverages at Strikers? Also is there a charge for the bowling?

are there any beach bars ? also how far is the bar from the beach..sorry watching without volume as not working on my tablet
There aren’t any bars right on the beach. The closest bar will be where u see the hut for the pool bar, which is not far from the beach at all - about a minute walk 👍🏻

You can visit Colonial, Tropical and Beach and use their amenities
Hi! My mom and I are booked to stay at Caribe, but keep getting a call to complimentary upgrade to the Barcelo Maya Riviera. Would you recommend one resort over the other? Not fussy on if there's kids (we know Riviera is adults only), just looking for a good pool, food, drinks and entertainment in the evenings. Thanks!
The Maya Riviera is definitely a superior resort! It’s very new, modern and beautiful! Plus, staying at the Maya Riviera gives you access to all the other Barcelos 👍🏻 evening entertainment was a bit lacking at the Maya Riviera, but like I said - you can hop on the bus and visit any of the other barcelos or the Maya mall for entertainment 👍🏻
Out of caribe tropical colonial and beach which one do you recommend staying at, as well as is it worth paying extra for the palace or would one of those 4 be just fine?
Any of them would be just fine! We particularly liked the Caribe and the Beach bc of their bigger buffets 👍🏻 the nice thing about staying at beach or caribe is that you can also visit and eat at tropical and colonial, however not the palace. The palace is nice and beautiful and has excellent buffets, but the beach isn’t great - but again, u can visit the other 4 as well.
@@WherewegoingNext one more question. Which resort did u like better overall, barcelo Maya or Riu yukatan? Asking because I am currently planning a trip.
We think the Barcelo hotels are a better choice than the RIU Yucatán - which has gotten some bad reviews lately.
If staying at the barcelo tropical, can we still eat on the other resorts buffet ??
Yeah! U can eat at tropical, beach, caribe and colonial 👍🏻

Yup! Staying at Caribe gives you access to Colonial, Tropical and Beach as well 👍🏻

For lunch, there is only the buffet. Sorry, we didn’t eat at any of the specialty restaurants at this resort - only at Barcelo Maya Riviera.
Are reservations for the restaurants limited, I saw on another video that you are limited to two dinner reservations
Some room categories may be limited to the number of ala carte dinners you can have, but premium level gives you more access
Can we dine in other restaurants at the Barcelo complex?
Yes! If you stay at the Caribe, you can visit and dine at Beach, Colonial and Tropical as well! 👍🏻
I know that you mentioned the spa and saunas were included for premium level guests (30 mins per day), but is the fitness center free for the lower level rooms?
Yes, correct 👍🏻
I have only been to Cancun once and stayed at the Riu Peninsula. Solo traveler. Would this resort be ok for an adult solo traveler? I've been searching for others....
For a solo traveller, I would recommend the RIU Cancun 👍🏻 the Barcelo complex is very family oriented, so I’m not sure 🤔
Any info on water bottles? Are they available as much as you want through out your stay? I saw the bottles in the gym but anywhere else?
Yes, you will have some stocked in your room and if you want more, you can get some at any of the bars 👍🏻

Glad to help! The Barcelo Maya Caribe is very family oriented - and has lots of safe drinking water 👍🏻

They are basically the same 👍🏻 the Caribe and Beach share a buffet, and the Colonial and Tropical share a buffet - but the Caribe/Beach buffet has a tiny bit more selection in our opinion 🤔 unfortunately we didn’t get to try the a-La cartes at Caribe, but we heard great things about the Japanese 👍🏻
Is there a certain time of year that the sawgrass is better or worse?
It’s usually better during the winter months 👍🏻

How was the seaweed..
Some days it was heavier than others, but it was still very swimmable. It’s hard to predict - it all depends on the tide.
How is the beach?
It was great when we went! It might be a bit rocky in some parts, but it’s nice and clear on the Maya Beach side 👍🏻
Do you prefer the Peninsula Palace or the Barcelo Maya Caribe Palace?
The Maya Caribe is not a Palace resort. I would say the Palace Peninsula is more elevated in terms of food, but otherwise the hotels and rooms are similar.
Did they ask for a deposit at check in?
No, not when we went 🤔

Uih very difficult to choose between RIU and BARCELO. On one hand I think I am not the biggest fan of the pink-violet-style in many RIU resorts and BARCELO has warmer/nicer colours. On the other hand BARCELO has more older looking resorts.
I would recommend Barcelo! Even though the style looks older, the resorts are very well maintained - much better than some of the RIU resorts in my opinion 🤷🏼♀️ the only exception is the RIU palace riviera Maya, which is very newly renovated and beautiful. All around though, the Barcelos are a better experience 👍🏻

Hi, Can I ask what time during the year did you film the video? I am surprised by the huge amount of sea weed. 🥹 What is your opinion for visiting the resort during April or May? Thank you in advance!
This was filmed in June, 2022. The seaweed usually gets worse in spring/summer and less in the winter months. But it could be clear when you visit 🤷🏼♀️
