I've had enough screws, caps, and nuts roll off into oblivion that I put a magnet and a tacky strip on my bench to minimize loss as best possible.

I bought a magnetic garage bowl from Harbor Freight. I also bought a strong "tool retrieval" magnet. Well, more than one. A 60lb and a 200lb. The 200 is for magnet fishing at the local "murder weapon pond" and the 60lb is for finding metal objects in my house.

The only problem I have with decorations on the belt is that they may or may not go thru the belt loops. I have bought some really cool belts only to find out they won't go thru the belt loops of some of my pants or they snag every time I take them out. this is exactly why I love this video. Options, Options, Options when you DIY your own belt. Chuck has actually expanded my creativity in these 3 videos. I actually understand the tricks of the trade in making a belt. I used these videos to understand what makes a GREAT belt. I found what I wanted in a store and bought it in the interim until I get the stuff together to make my own. I have several other projects I want to do so I am scrapping together the money to get the leather and tools I will need for those projects. I also love this channel because Chuck inspires me. keep 'em comin' bro!!!!

I learned from gun holsters and belt clips. Average size pants seem to use 1.5in appropriate belt loops. The rest are 1.75in. Always measure your belt loops and belt and be sure to label it if you plan to sell it.

Weaver team - These series are really working. Worthwhile videos, larger projects and topics can be covered and it keep the videos down to a reasonable length. I personally don't mind a good hour-long video, but I know what the analytics say...

I placed an order through Weaver on the 28th, after not getting any update I sent a email asking when my order would ship, they just answered and told me they were running behind and now I can expect my order to ship in as much as 96 business days!!!
As much as I would like to order from Weaver, I dont know anyone that can wait NINETY SIX BUSINESS DAYS for their order....oh well, the search continues for leather, tools and hardware...

Hey there! Pretty amazing set of video! I've been watching quite a bit of yours and the knowledge shared is definitely quite valuable!
I'm looking on tips on how to set a tip (in leather with stitches) efficiently on a braided belt. I could not find in your video (did I miss it?) is it something that you made before?
Again thanks for sharing your experience an knowledge!

Angelus is expensive for Acrylic Paint. I use a Plaid product called Apple Barrel in both Gloss and Flat colors. They mix easy and I have not noticed a difference in adhesion, performance and interacts the same with all top finishes. The only problem I found is with the Flats. If you put it on without thinning it and too heavy and you really flex the leather it can crack. But you should never have to put that much paint on anyway.
Apple Barrel is only about a buck for a 2oz squeeze bottle and you can order it directly from Plaid. Dozens of colors are available and they mix together well.
For someone on a very tight budget with Disability I have to save every penny I can.

Chuck, that tip looks very flimsy being held on by two tiny screws. Could you use rubber cement to get a better hold? I wouldn’t give that belt a week on a Cowboy. There has to be a better way to hold that tip onto the leather. Richard

Great info Chuck! I have to admit that I cringe every time you say "Fiebings." The proper pronunciation is "FEE-BINGS." In German, whenever you see "ie" it has an "E" sound. When you see the opposite, "ei" it has an "I" sound. FrankenstEIn and wIEner. Hahaha just a little German lesson. :) Love your videos! Tschüss!
