  • Rode from Texas to Colorado and back. Over 63 hours of seat time and 3380 miles driving the van in 9 days. Good van with a very strong powertrain. May not be as nice as the Ford Transit but its cheaper and its got a V8. 6.0 V8 was amazing when controlling speeds on 7% grade roads. 10 Day rental price is $850 through Priceline- Avis/Budget.

    Thank you, appreciate you taking the time to relay your thoughts. Thinking of getting a used one for camping. Have F-250 but do not want to pull or haul a camper as its only me (retired) and some plants. No dog yet.

    This is such an outdated vehicle, yet they're asking 50 grand for it! They should honestly redesign it, and they should've done it 10 years ago.

    Thanks for sharing! I'm hopeful to purchase this same van used this coming Monday for just about the price you stated. I live in Northern Minnesota and have a large family. My kids are getting bigger, and not smaller so this van is going to really help us out! 🙏
    Thanks for the great review. I'd definitely want to customize the van by converting into an AWD...but
    $$🤯$$
    Lol.

    I’m not sure what the tire talk at the beginning was all about.. I diagnose a rim obsession 😂
    Amazing review all around, even with the rim TMI. Literally one of the very best car reviews I’ve ever seen.. and I’m obsessed with cars even more than he’s obsessed with rims..

    I rather choose to drive this 15pax van than ford transit, i really enjoy driving this and roomy inside. When parking on crowded place its better to park on open place not garage, or a lil bit far place when theres no much cars around because if your passenger door is not the sliding door just be careful to hit the other car when opening the door. But youll get used to it, like he said just like driving a crew-long bed pickup truck

    Curious as to if we could aftermarket and add passenger seat headrests if we own our own van.

    Even though it's a Chevy Express, something about it and everything you said above reminds me of my family's 1995 Ford Windstar from my childhood. I was one out of two boys, the youngest, and autistic, and I'll always have autism no matter what I do, but my big brother had the wall before I could choose a seat, so I had no choice but to get what I had, so he had the wall and I had the sliding door, so that meant he had a cupholder, two headphone slots, a 12 volt slot, and a storage box, and I had none of the above at all. It was unfair for me to ride like that especially as a special needs rider, my brother refused to switch places, and my parents refused to make him switch places with me, which then made my rides uncomfortable and inconvenient, so after complaining about those issues, they got me a pair of headphones with a LONG wire while my brother had a short wire, we didn't use the 12 volt slot for anything because we didn't have cell phones like these of today yet, and with my seat still missing a cupholder and a storage bin, which I was the only one missing while my brother, mom, and dad had each for themselves, my parents also got me a portable concole with a storage bin TWICE AS BIG as his and TWICE AS MANY cupholders on the top of the front end of the console, and it was added to the empty space between both of our bucket seats, mine and my brother's, all reserved just for me, and if we had cell phones for both of us, and a portable GPS for me, which didn't happen then, my parents would have gotten me and my brother an adapter converting from a 12 volt car plug to three USB plugs and three lines, long two for me and the other in short length for my brother, for his phone, my phone, and my portable GPS, well long cord for my phone and a short one for my GPS with a USB extension cord included. But that phone and GPS thing didn't happen, just the discomfort and inconvenience of pop cans and accessories in my hands for more hours than I could handle, so that was why our van had a portable concole in the middle of the second row which I don't see in that van above.

      what a bunch of tiresome complaining.

    • @ericwood2062
      @ericwood2062 Před 2 lety

      @@juliennacer8871 Yes, it was tiresome for me and annoying to my parents and brother, but it wasn't my fault. If you have a child with special needs, you need to examine your van, investigate what one seat has and the other doesn't, point it out to your special needs kid, and give him/her the choice before your normal kid does. But unfortunately, it didn't happen to me. But at least full sized vans and mini-vans got improved a lot over those years from mid-'90s to today. Now the Ford Transit Connects are the new replacements to the Ford Windstars, those mini-vans and other comparable ones of today now have two sliding doors, one on each side, and each one now has a built-in cupholder along with the primary ones sticking out behind the built-in consoles behind the first row, which is a good thing like it should be.

      @@juliennacer8871 Look, the man said he has autism, right? I give him credit for expressing himself in a detailed manner. We perceive things in our own way, and those with autism may choose to do it the only way they can. At least he isn't withdrawing from the world like other autistics can . One of the best AH-64 Instructor Pilots I ever worked with in the Army, Chuck Fulmer, said he was autistic as a child, and as an adult he was highly intelligent and a superb instructor pilot in the Apache helicopter. Lighten up.

    Looks like this is what I'm going to be picking up tomorrow for a 10 day trip from Tulsa, OK to Colorado. I was hoping for a Ford Transit because they looked more updated and better MPG but at least I know it worked out for you and it should get us from point A to point B.
    With you getting 16mpg and averaging only around 52mph, what kind of highway speeds where you cruising at for the long stretch between Houston and Colorado to get that kind of gas mileage? I'm not used to driving a large vehicle like this (drove a Ford Expedition to Montana last year) so I'm assuming I should just set the cruise and resist the urge to go 80mph the whole way through Kansas as much as I can.

    • @Lumpia_In_Texas
      @Lumpia_In_Texas  Před 3 lety +1

      I just went 5mph over the speed limit. We were idling for a while too to warm the van when it was cold in Vail. That affects the average speed and mpgs. Kansas is so boring lol

    Do any of the seats fold down? Is this the 12 passenger? Thanks for the review. We are looking at purchasing but with the low inventory we haven't been able to find one available for test driving. We will be ordering a 2022 and trying to make sure we know the INS and out of the design to compare to transit , so your video is so helpful!!!

      None of the seats fold down however you can unscrew the bench seat. We have a 15 passenger and took out the rear bench so we can have a huge trunk. We can still put the seat back in if we need it for a big trip or something.
