    I’m not really a bass fisherman, more of a multi species fisherman. But when I watch your videos it makes me want to fish for bass. I don’t feel the arrogance I feel with other bass anglers! I appreciate it!

    I’m having surgeries over this winter... elbow and both wrists! Can’t wait for next spring! My last few surgeries, I’ve had 4 surgeries in the last five years on my shoulders ugh. I’m glad to finally be done with my military injuries!

    I believe the in-line spinners are a great bass catcher during this time. You can cast it out let it sink then reel. Reel it fast or slow. The blade puts out a very good vibration. I found one on the shore and tied it on. Caught 4 bass on four cast in tbe late fall. I think there something to these in-line spinner or Mepps style lures. The color was Chartreuse with white hair on the treble hook. Buy one and give it a try. It was a bigger bait size. Shawn

      Sorry to hear youre in western KY. Used to be the place to be. Im in central KY, now cumberland dale hollow green river cedar creek are the places to be. Really sad whats happened to KY and Barkley.

    I like to "stitch" for retrieving slowly. It helps me to see how far the bait is moving by pulling it by hand.

    I've got 2 weeks of fishing left that I need to make count here on the central coast of CA. Then, I need to winterize the motor and cover the boat 'cuz I'm getting lumbar surgery. I'll be on my ass for a month or 2 except for therapy. I planned it this way so I'm ready for the spring bite! Hope that pans out! 😩

    Matt you and Tim are the most informative anglers out..... I watch all of you guys videos and I am always going out and applying your tips to my fishing. I live in the Midwest in Missouri about 40 miles from Lake of the Ozarks where the water get extremely cold and I don't have electronics on my boat yet, so how do you guys suggest I find these fish and what's the best baits to use

    Can you talk to the megabass 110 +2? you mention the +1 but the +2 gets down more so I thought it would be more of a player for this time of year. And in a previous vid you mention to go to extremes with jerkbait, super shallow or super deep. My thought is the +2 is even deeper so possible better option.

      Why not look into a Kayak, even if you're working part-time while going to school or your job doesn't pay that much...it's ok, most people have been there especially when first starting out. I just googled cheap Kayaks, found a 10 foot one brand new for 69.95...I had to start out standing in an old johnboat and fishing from the banks of ponds.

    Thank you so much Matt for all the great information! This came in absolute perfect timing since I'm going on a trip to Dale Hollow this weekend. Just one quick question, Do bass still predominantly feed in the mornings and evenings, or do they wait until the sun comes up and warms the water up?

      I'm in the north and the only times ove had success recently is right smack in the middle of the day. Not sure if it's the same for everyone else but that's definitely been my experience. As soon as 430 or 5pm rolls around, the bite just seems to shut off, like literally someone just flipped a switch. Hope that helps!

      I know this is a couple years old, but same here in MA. When the water temp just starts to really heat up in the late fall, they seem to wake up and wanna eat. Totally different than what the summer bite is like.

    Hurricane Dorian caused our fall to start really fast then we proceeded to get cold fronts every week until midway through October, the water temp has been below 60 for about 2 1/2 weeks now, luckily we only have smallmouth in my province so they are still eating pretty well. EDIT: water temp was 54 last night

      Matt was a full time guide on Clearlake, Berryessa, and the Delta for many years but we've now relocated to Tennessee. We still come out and fish quite a bit but are not currently guiding.

    Can you help me fish the winter in a river? I'm struggling to find the fish in my river, it starts at a spring fed lake then works it's way across the county. I thought they might have all moved to the lake, I've checked the steep dropoff, I haven't noticed any rock, ive checked structure but no luck. The deepest part of the river is probably over 10ft maybe 15 and the lake that is upstream is about 20 to 25 which is why I checked there
