I can relate to Mitch. There were times when I pretended to be sick, however, there were times when I was really sick and was forced to miss school, but eventually, I outgrew faking becoming sick.

when his mom said that the whole town was rallying around him, I think I was about to puke. it's so infuriating that I actually wish he was sick. that way, he wouldn't be laughing so much and it would wipe the smug smile off his face. I don't mean to sound cruel myself but he needs to learn that there are other people who are really sick and he doesn't understand that they're suffering and he uses being sick as a sort of defense.
