    Both games are pretty similar and both have a lot of beautiful scenery to look at. It really comes down to what driving style and what type of trucks you prefer. European roads are narrow, twisty, and a bit more difficult to navigate but the trucks are also more nimble and able to handle it. Driving rules in Europe are also different and one thing that drives me nuts in ATS is getting stuck at red lights all the time. We need more roundabouts, dang it.

      I like ATS more, because I think it looks better. I don't like in ETS2 that you usually can't see far, often you just drive and next to road is a ground blocking view. And also in ETS2 is almost everywhere those barriers close to road and you almost everywhere can drive max only 80km/h. In ATS I can drive faster, great view far and also I like how you drive in desert and then in forest with huge trees. And I always liked American trucks, they look more powerful, I like to them, their long nose with huge roaring engine. I don't like in ETS2 the first trucks added to game, they look boring and ugly, especially interior and I don't like towns, they are ugly, grey, boring and intersections are small. Im mixed on the two, im from the US so I got ATS before ETS. I got a little bored with ATS and ive always thought European trucks are dope so I got it. ETS is a huge culture shock, buildings look different than here, vehicles, roads, the way towns and cities are laid out and whatnot, its been a really cool escape from ATS but at the same time it feels incredibly cramped. Obviously theyre cramming multiple countries together so theres no way to get around that but its a constant thing. It feels more "on rails" than ATS, and after driving trucks with long wheel bases and 53+ ft trailers in ATS, theres not much challenge with ETS.
    Everyone gripes that ATS is like 80% desert, but thats just because its the western states so far, once they get to the midwest and beyond, the scenery will be a drastic change. (and theyre almost there since theyve announced Wyoming now so get ready for the great plains) ATS just feels big. Making a run from Washington down to New Mexico really feels like it takes a long time, so I feel like you take in more of the scenery since you actually have time to look around or stop at a truck stop, where as ETS is just BOOM youre in another country BOOM youre in another country, and the fact that most of our states are larger than a lot of European countries, it has a feeling of size to it. ETS totally has a charm to it for sure, even though ive never been to Europe it has that cool alien culture shock to me and I dig that a lot. But at the end the day, you cant beat flying down the road at 80mph letting that American turbo scream and that jake brake thunder down the hill. Lol

    • @TheBelovedDisciple144

      I think they'd drop Montana after Wyoming and then Texas would take them a while.
      But I just drove from Michigan all the way across Montana this summer and they got their work cut out for them on that state. In and out of massive mountains, constant curvy roads. Speed limit is 80+ out there too. Its definitely the wild west of driving in America for sure. Montana is an ABSOLUTELY incredible state. One of the most incredible places on earth terrain wise. I'm excited to see what they do with that state.
      In my opinions ETS might be bigger now. But if they actually completed the map of America itd be a no contest which map is more diverse and interesting. America has 15+ unique biomes, atleast.

    I enjoy ETS2 better than ATS since it's comparable to my country having terrain where roads go overly curvy and makes u focus on steering, accelerating & braking all at the same time including shifting into different gears to maintain speed w/o tipping the truck. The roads changing sizes from wide to narrow vise versa is satisfying to nail at constant speed w/o a single scratch on my trucks. Overall I can practice time management in both games from a job after the other... Safe driving peeps

  • @carpassion7324
    @carpassion7324 Před 4 lety +81

    I've been playing both the ETS 2 and ATS, and in my humble opinion ATS is better. First of all landscapes in America are more interesting. Secondly speed limits for trucks are higher. At some motorways 80 mph is allowed what it gives about 120-130 km per hour. In Europe max speed limit is 80 KM/h and the police gives high tickets even if you drive a few km faster. It makes you are the slowest on motorway, every car and bus overtakes you and long distance are boring. Living of truck-driver in Europe must be so boring compare to American drivers. IN ATS you drive faster, you overtake more vehicles and it makes that game is more dynamic and curious. Looking at lorries the American vehicles are longer, and driving them is more difficult and complicated.

    ATS has more map details.
    I live near Berlin in real life, in the area that was built before ETS2 was released many years ago. There is some stuff going on that is unrealistic, like the right lane on an Autobahn suddenly becoming an exit without notice. There are many tight corners that don't exist in reality on the Autobahn. Also some of the intersections are unrealistic. And the cities are very generic and all look the same.
    In ATS the cities are larger, there is more to see. I've never been to the USA, but the roads generelly appear to be realistic.
    ATS is more challenging:
    The trucks are longer, the trailers are longer and they also have a long wheelbase. It's harder to drive. Also there are higher speed limits, 80 mi/h is roughly 128 km/h, that's really fast for European standards. So you have to be more careful and slow down for the corners.
    I hope they manage to rebuild the old map area in central Europe in the future and make it as enjoyable as the newer map sections in the USA.

    Currently ETS has more content but ATS has way bigger potential since SCS is planning to create every single state. Even now with current states available you can already see big difference in environment when you go from Colorado to Arizona, the scenery is amazing and vastly different. Colorado is more green, with beautiful mountains and waterfalls, whereas Arizona is all desert and has straight roads with nothing but sand around them. Whereas in ETS, even though it has many countries, they are all very similar when it comes to scenery and environment since Europe itself as a landmass is very similar everywhere. When ATS is fully finished it's going to be insane, just imagine driving from east coast to west coast, and how long it's going to take you to finish the delivery. On the other hand, ETS has different countries where different languages are spoken and you have to drive through borders which is cool if you ask me. But overall l think when ATS is fully finished, it will be a bigger game with a bigger map. Also, I think adding snow would benefit a lot in terms of realism and just changing it up a bit, especially in ETS.

    After having played both games heavily for years, I still cannot have a preference
    Both are unique in their own ways, because of the differences in the trucks themselves (American trucks are more stable, and speed limits are higher, roads wider, but European trucks are way more manoeuvrable) but also the different landscapes in the US and in Europe
    Both games function very similarly, graphics are very good on both (especially for the latest content such as DLCs), and the size of both maps is pretty equal in the end
    I always end up switching back and forth between the two, and love them both equally, for different reasons, but in the end I don't think there is a "winner", both are fantastic games that bring back so many memories of me growing up alongside them (especially when I used to listen to J-Pop extensively while playing ets2 xd)

    I would go with American truck simulator (and yes maybe a little bit of bias since I am from the states) As American truck simulator's gameplay feels a little bit more "brighter" than ETS2. Also, I like the trailer listing in American truck simulator, as they seem pretty realistic for what I have seen on the road. In addition, I have visited multiple states in the ATS map, with DLC, and man it really feels like I am on a road trip, they get the feel of everything nicely, as well as my hometown. But I am supposing both could also be said for ETS2. With my personal preference ATS!

  • @Floating.Point.
    @Floating.Point. Před 2 lety +3

    The Iberia DLC made me go back to play ETS but man it's a rough change from ATS. The map is bigger on paper but it's minuscule in practice, cities in ETS are 4 blocks wide and do a very poor job of conveying how the actual vibe of the city. Newer ATS DLCs are scaling things better and better but I feel we need like other 2 full fledged truck simulator games to really have a simulation experience. Wake me up in 15 years!

    • @charlos252
      @charlos252 Před 2 lety

      Idk about the laws in the US, but for example you said that cities in ETS are 4 blocks wide, and that's true. irl, trucks can't go deep in cities, only are allowed to go in certain parts of the city, for example in Barcelona, only can go in the coast part because the port and the airport are in the coast line. Imo, I think it's realistic, not a fail. I could be wrong tho. That's my opinion.

    Both games are essentially the same, just based in different places. However ETS2 has better truck customization, more trucks to offer, and well it has a bigger map. Additionally, our road network is like a hybrid between American roads and European roads so I've got no real bias in that department either. I do prefer ATS over ETS2, the engine is the same so the graphics between the games aren't too different but the world-building in ATS pays much more attention to detail, each town in ATS feels unique unlike in ETS2. While it is true that the desert biome dominates the game right now, with the addition of the new DLCs in states like Colorado, more variation is being added.

    I prefere ETS2 because here, in Brazil, we have just European trucks, but i appreciate so much ATS. (have more brazilian mods to ETS2)

    I have both and they are equally the same. One is based on the US the other Europe. No regrets buying both. I love American trucks as well as the European ones. ETS however is older and has a larger map but as ATS is right now a drive from Seattle to Denver surely will keep you busy

    It’s ats for me since I started playing 18wos American Long Haul plus I’ve stayed in Oregon for almost 2 years so it’s much more immersive for me. Also long drive and insane cargo lol

    I might have to call ATS because when ever I try to play ETS for a longer period of time I find myself bored of the game pretty early.... in fact I crashed my truck before because my mind was so dull for driving for so long. I can play ATS all day & night!

    Both are great, different Styles, but I like ATS because I'm American.

    Both are equal, perfect and relaxing simulators. Unless you are a maniac and you enjoy MP.

    I hope that someday they turn these in a big game called "World Truck Simulator", with many others countries, trucks, etc.

    I found ets 2 to be better in a few areas than ATS and that is:
    Suspension is a bit more realistic in ETS
    gear changes are a bit better in ETS
    ETS trucks have good starting power unlike ATS
    And there are a lot more mods for ETS than ATS

    I love both games but I prefer ETS2 because it has so many countries and then it becomes different traffic rules. To for intance in United Kingdom it is left hand traffic which also do it funner to drive in ETS2. It is more fun when not all the parts of the map have either left or right hand traffic. You can become very used to drive on a side of the road and then it become more challenge to drive on the other side of the road. Euro truck simulator 2 has also many ferry terminals and even a channel tunnel with train terminals. ATS has weigh stations more different trucks and more uncommon trailers that may appear in the freight market choice. The arguments for ETS2 is more funner than the arguments for ATS.

      In ETS2 you can also switch the interior to UK interior and get the steering wheel on the right hand side also.
