Totally agree. I did not know about Jennifer Nettles until a short while ago when I came across her version of "O, Holy Night" on CZcams. Just knocked me out!
vale ray You can't compare the two. Carrie's version with Vince Gill is probably my favorite in the song's history. Jennifer does an amazing job as well, though. But it's not fair to compare, IMO.
When people hear the hymns, something speaks to the soul. May those who hear this amazing version of this beautiful hymn come to know the One whom this song exalts. Amen.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR BEAUTIFUL WORDS! SO DEEP AND PROFOUND! YOU BROUGHT TEARS TO MY EYES AND WARMTH TO MY HEART AND SOUL! I NEEDED TO HEAR WHAT I KNOW, BUT AT TIMES NEGLECT TO FOCUS ON THE ONE WE ALL NEED TO FOCUS ON AND TRY TO ALWAYS MOVE FORWARD IN DOING FOR CHRIST WHAT MAKES HIM SMILE AND WHAT MAKES THE ENEMY WANT TO RUN, WHEN WE SPEAK OR SING THE NAME OF OUR LORD AND SAVIOR. AGAIN, THANK YOU! BLESSINGS~~
In my 71 years of enjoying music and appreciating thousands of talented singers, I have never seen nor enjoyed a singer who's talent, depth of feeling and gifts are so special and easy to feel, then Jennifer Nettles.
a2zme You should look up Deanna Durbin for effortless singing.. She could sing anything from that which was popular in her day to opera.. Her Vissi d'arte was the finest I have ever heard..
We cannot BEGIN to fathom "How great He art!" The intellect we have been given is as of an electron to the vastness of the universe, to the ten-trillionth power ...
So if people don't like the song, they must hate your god? I don't believe in your god, I think he's a myth... but I think the song is beautiful and perfectly sung. So much for your theory that someone's enjoyment of this duet hinges on their love or hatred for your fairy tale. It's interesting to me that someone who is clearly so devout has no problem trying to sow discontent as you did with this comment... I'm pretty sure your bible talks about that kind of behavior being a no-no.
0pnMnded First of, Why are you quoting the Bible if you don't believe in God? I know you are trying to pick on me because of my love for Jesus Christ. I am a Christian, and I will not apologize for it. The straightedge of God’s Law reveals how crooked we are: Matt. 5:3: The unregenerate heart isn’t poor in spirit. It is proud, self-righteous, and boastful (every man is pure in his own eyes-Proverbs16:2). Matt. 5:4: The unsaved don’t mourn over their sin; they love the darkness and hate the light (John 3:19). Matt. 5:5: The ungodly are not meek and lowly of heart. Their sinful condition is described in Romans 3:13-18. Matt. 5:6: Sinners don’t hunger and thirst after righteousness. Instead, they drink iniquity like water (Job 15:16). Matt. 5:7: The world is shallow in its ability to show true mercy. It is by nature cruel and vindictive (Genesis 6:5). Matt. 5:8: The heart of the unregenerate is not pure; it is desperately wicked (Jeremiah 17:9). Those who are born again manifest the fruit of the Spirit, live godly in Christ Jesus (Matt. 5:3-9), and therefore suffer persecution (Matt. 5:10-12). However, their purpose on earth is to be salt and light: to be a moral influence, and to bring the light to those who sit in the shadow of death (Matt. 5:13-16). If you have any more questions, or you want to know more about Jesus, just read the Bible. Thanks, God Bless
Faith, And Freedom Because I can. I am not picking on you, you made an asinine comment and I responded. I have not asked for nor do I expect you to apologize for anything, as long as you don't use your beliefs to harm anyone or dictate to them and trample on their rights, I don't care what you do. There's probably not much you can tell me about the Bible or Christianity that I don't already know, I was a Christian for 30+ years and it's a big part of the reason I became an atheist. Also, I am an ape, the only thing that makes me different than any other animal is I have a larger brain to body ratio and opposable thumbs, I don't claim to have a superior position in the universe, you on the other hand believe the entire universe was created just for you...
0pnMnded Open minded, I am sorry but you were not a Christian for 30+ years, you were a false convert. You said because you were a Christian for 30+ years you decided to become an atheist? That is asinine! You are telling me that unless I don't use my beliefs to harm anyone or dictate to them and trample on their rights, you don't care what I do? Tell me how I'm doing such things. I will speak the word of God no matter where I go, and when I do, I don't harm, dictate, or trample on their rights. That is exactly what you are doing to me. My God given right it's to spread the gospel, God's word. I am not going to continue to put up with your comments, they make no sense. I wonder who you'll call when one day you are hurt, or dying? Again, you were never a Christian, a Christian does not go astray, then turns his back on God. A Christian puts his trust, and faith in God, and repents from their sin. Please, don't keep replying to this post...It isn't going to change anything. Jesus is Lord. God's always been there, perhaps you turned your back on Him because you didn't like His commandments, you didn't like the fact that He is God, and He will judge each and everyone of us one day. I am a sinner just like everyone else, not better than you. I was in need of a Savior, and here I am. I am sorry you were so lost for 30+ yrs. and you were around false converts who turned you away from God. I pray that one day you will come to Him as you are, and put your trust in Him. Not because I am pushing things down your throat, but because I care about your salvation. You are not an ape, you are a beautiful human being, created by God Almighty. *I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well. Psalms 139:14
Faith, And Freedom I know what I believed, I know what I was and I'm not playing that game with you. I did not say that being a Christian was why I am an atheist, I said the Bible is a huge contributing factor in my becoming an atheist also, no one chooses to become an atheist, religious people usually become atheists while kicking and screaming trying to hold on to their beliefs.... You know, the way you come off is really condescending, you tell me that I wasn't what I said I was, basically calling me a liar, then you accuse me of dictating to you when in fact I said I don't care what you do as long as it doesn't trample on anyones rights, I would tell anyone that. Then you go on to tell me that my parents and family and friends were not who they should have been, that they were deceptive and turned me away, they taught me as they were taught and they would have never knowingly done anything to lead me the wrong way, I came from a long line of preachers, deacons, Sunday School teachers, went to church every Sunday morning Sunday night and Wednesday night and as I got a little older I went to Bible study on Monday nights, every time I had a chance to go I went and I was encouraged to go, yes, I was misled but it wasn't in the way you meant it and it wasn't their fault, they didn't and still don't know that god isn't real. Also quoting Bible verses serve no purpose when talking to an atheist, most were once Christians just like me and we know the song and dance and most know a lot more about the Bible than you would ever think and you'll cherry pick around it or say it's out of context but there's some heinous stuff in there, stuff that no amount apologetics can fix. BTW, I am an ape and so are you, that isn't an insult, it's a fact and it was a Christian who first classified us as being apes and our DNA confirms it.
john glossam shud never have lost this competition, he outclassed its winner jrome in every possible way and this duet depicts just how amazin jennifer and john were and are
Finally someone w courage to sing on prime time. Well done. Made me remember my lovely grandma sing this in the kitchen as a kid. Also remember this being my favorite song to hear at church. Well done.
my dad died in 2006 and the choir sang this song and when i hear it, it brings tears to my eyes. this one and the version by carrie underwood by far are the best. i keep coming back to both version when i need a little solace. r i p dad.
Incomparable performance of one the most amazing Christian hymns I know. Jennifer Nettles is too good in all of her performances to even have time to do a show like this. She should be singing all across the world for all whose reverence can understand and appreciate her renditions of Holy music. And, because the two men she performed with voices soooo complimentary to hers and hers to theirs, I'd love to see her record with then both of them. For John, this is song gets my vote !
This song never gets old, doesn't matter who is doing it. But this rendition is beautiful. I was fortunate enough to see them perform it last night on 'Duets'. Couldn't wait for someone to post it! Thanks thesmileybee for sharing this with us.
Absolutely beautiful! This isn't in competition to Carrie Underwood's version (which is incredible) so I don't understand why the negative comments. If you don't think it's as great then move on. I feel people jump so fast to negativity instead of rejoicing the fact that a beautiful song about our Lord was sung beautifully on a show that is viewed by millions. That right there is a blessing alone. ♡
I agree. I think Carrie Underwood set the standard for the hymn. I was actually in the audience for the performance above. Carrie and Jennifer are the two best country vocalist.
Saw Nettles live when she 1st arrived on the scene. Was blown away by her vocals and still am. She could do a single on just her vocal warm ups. That's amazing all by its self.
This was absolutely stunning in the way it was done here. Jennifer is an extremely talented singer what ever she sings. John's voice blended so well with hers. One of my favorite video's.
I think people are enthralled by the beauty of the sound of a singer's voice more than the value of the message of the singer's song, which is extremely sad!!!
This is a great song Jane. Whatever your illness is just now that he will be there on the other side to welcome you into his kingdom. This was one of my mothers favorite songs
This was unfreakingbelievably great ! Jenniffer was great, Glosson was great, and the duet was better than the sum of its parts. And it glorifies God instead of being merely a country song about nothing. WOW !!!
Most talented female artist in my opinion. She can sing ANYTHING!!!
Best female vocalist ever! Her pipes have no limit!
I'm leaving this world soon due to illness and this is what I want sang at my memorial service by Johnn!!!! May God take you far John, your voice is untouchable!!! You should have won Duets! God bless you and your Family! I know he is doing and working amazing thing for you!!! Way to go Jenn., this show wouldn't be the same without you!!!! Love you and your God given talent!!!!!!

Jennifer Nettles can sing the phone book. She absolutely, does not get the credit she deserves. Hopefully, those that see this, might change their opinions. Her voice is so angelic and her pitch is flawless. What an amazing rendition of "How Great Thou Art!"
Totally agree. I did not know about Jennifer Nettles until a short while ago when I came across her version of "O, Holy Night" on CZcams. Just knocked me out!
Jennifer needs to record this song on her own. The bit in the middle where it's just her singing is my favorite part. Her voice is immaculate.
yeah,ur right,.comparing to carrie on how they deliver the song,.,.jennifer is much beter,.strong and nice voice blends than carrie,.,.
vale ray You can't compare the two. Carrie's version with Vince Gill is probably my favorite in the song's history. Jennifer does an amazing job as well, though. But it's not fair to compare, IMO.
This performance still gives me chills. John should have won the contest just from this song alone.
Agreed
Jennifer nettles is the greatest female vocalist I've ever heard
One of the greatest voices Jennifer Nettles. So underrated!! Strong and powerful voice. They both sound beautiful. She's one of my favorite singers.
Thank God for County music...never afraid to have singers sing gospel songs...Thank you Lord Jesus
Jennifer Nettles is a SUPER STAR.. Her talent is just phenomenal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not only can she sing so beautiful. She is absolutely stunning.
When people hear the hymns, something speaks to the soul. May those who hear this amazing version of this beautiful hymn come to know the One whom this song exalts.

YEP for sure ...... I hope
Yes I agree I hope if there's someone lost who hears this song gets to know Christ !

When Nettles raises her left hand you should be feeling chills!
In my 71 years of enjoying music and appreciating thousands of talented singers, I have never seen nor enjoyed a singer who's talent, depth of feeling and gifts are so special and easy to feel, then Jennifer Nettles.
I'm so lucky that I get to meet her in 23 days!!!!!
Rachel Ciccone Great and Congratulations 🎉 🍾!! I would absolutely love to me her as well, I hope it’s as wonderful as I’m sure it’ll be!!!
Absolutely beautiful and inspirational
Jennifer Nettles is a superstar, Diva, whatever positive thing you choose to call her. An unparalleled voice.
Her voice is Liquid Gold.... and I found her on CZcams.. and now I listen to all of her music.
Not so many people in this world can do something like this.
The angels must have shouted when John and Jennifer sang this song... HALLELUJAH
Jennifer Nettles has one of the most effortless voices I've ever heard.. that girl can sing anything.
a2zme i agree with you. her voice is golden
a2zme You should look up Deanna Durbin for effortless singing.. She could sing anything from that which was popular in her day to opera.. Her Vissi d'arte was the finest I have ever heard..
She really is a once in a generation voice! Since I first heard her I've always felt she has one of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard.
a2zme I saw her live tso year a ago, she was absolutely flawless.
My thoughts exactly!!!
This has to be the most beautiful version of this song I have heard in a really long time. Unknown
+Amy Carroll Agree .
You think this version is good.....check out Carrie Underwood's version with Vince Gill. You'll be blown away.
Oh I AGREE! I don't think I've EVER heard it sung any better! CHILLS!! :)
Gayle Doyer check Home Free's version...
240 dislikes? Blows my mind that there is even one! Even if ya hate the song how could you dislike the beauty and talent???
John Glosson is THE BEST. He can hold his own with any singer out there.
Beautiful sweet song powerful voices singing to the heavens, God heals all
One of the absolute greatest renditions of this song ever!!! This should have been released......
As many times as I have heard this song done by hundreds of artist, I have never heard it sang like this before. This is TOPS in my book.
Lovely, absolutely beautiful harmony!
Underwood should be so lucky to have Jenn's vocal ability and charisma! Rock, Rap, Soul, Country.... Jennifer does it all with perfection and emotion.
We cannot BEGIN to fathom "How great He art!" The intellect we have been given is as of an electron to the vastness of the universe, to the ten-trillionth power ...
I agree, had this great song ,dang for my mother's funeral ,How great thou are
I'm not surprised about the amount of God hating people who disliked the song. They did justice to that beautiful song! To God be the glory.
So if people don't like the song, they must hate your god? I don't believe in your god, I think he's a myth... but I think the song is beautiful and perfectly sung. So much for your theory that someone's enjoyment of this duet hinges on their love or hatred for your fairy tale.
