    My 08 6.4 has completely changed its breaths better the turbos sound better PS I had to change the stock air filter. It was way too restrictive. The change air filter light kept coming on. I put an after market high performance kit in. Now she has way more pickup especially when I have a load in the back. In the last year after the delete, my truck is much more responsive.

    I would be careful on your driver up-pipe, the bracket holding it tends to fail and then you get a exhaust leak, also then your ebp pipe is holding all that weight and then that snaps, happened to me yesterday morning, so now I am taking off the driver up-pipe and tapping in to the block off plate when I move it up where they meet at ( involves cutting and welding ) ( doing this with cab on )

    • @shaggy232350
      @shaggy232350 Před 3 lety

      I have a pic of a plate that has been drilled and tapped and has the fitting installed for the ebp tube...but I don't know exactly what that fitting is called or what size it is. Please email me at shaggy232350@aol.com and let me know. The blockoff plate I have is pretty thick. So as long as I can get it drilled and tapped, it shouldn't be able to back out. Should I use locktite? And I do plan to remove the uppipe that is known to crack at the bracket. I heard it is possible, hard but possible, to remove the uppipe without cutting it or raising the cab. I also heard the horizontal cooler is hard to remove but can be done. Since the radiator will be empty, and if I do change it to gold antifreeze, this would be a good time to flush it...this leads me to another question...do you think I should go ahead and flush the radiator system and put the gold in it? When I bought our truck almost 5 years ago, it already had green antifreeze in it. I have not had any problems with it leaking or any cooling problems so far. I know the 6.4 powerstroke is supposed to have gold antifreeze, is that right? It has not quite 116,000 miles. I don't know how long or if it even has it done...but would you recommend changing to gold and what about thermostats and hoses? Please email me at shaggy232350@aol.com and let me know. Please put 6.4 in description in case it goes to spam thanks everybody

      @silverback72745 Yes. Those pipes don't typically crack if if left stock so I don't see why a 3/8 block off plate is going to make a difference. Just slide the cooler forward a tad. I did have to drill out the threads on my plate, though. No big deal.

      I did the same thing for over a year. To me it makes sense to remove it as is prone to blockage as the coolant still flows through it. It can leave behind some residual sluds that can build up over time is the coolant breaks down from just everyday use. I didn’t notice any cooler temps

    • @Ardyez
      @Ardyez Před 2 lety +1

      You may be able to just install block plates and remove the egr system from the ecu if you want to keep the system itself in tact. This is what I plan to do since my state has strict emissions laws and it would be a hassle to reinstall the whole thing. The problem with just removing it from the ecu without blocking the exhaust is it will clog your valve with soot since it's not cycling, and should you ever need to reenable it, it might cause issues. The block plates will keep the coolers and the valve from getting gunked up/being a failure point since the system will be disabled and the valve cannot cycle. Essentially the same thing as a delete for those that wish to keep the hardware in tact.

    • @themichiganoutdoorsman
      @themichiganoutdoorsman  Před 3 lety +3

      Good question, I waited to remove my EGR components about 1 year after tuning the truck. You just tell the people tuning the truck that it’s removed and they will put a program that reads over the EGR and you won’t have a problem. Is you buy a tuner off the internet like a H&S mini max just chose the Emissions removed tab when setting up your tuner

      this is what I have done. The physical EGR is still installed. I just told the tuner it was removed. I bought a pipe/kit to remove it completely but I never installed it. It looks like a lot of work, seemed easier to just tell the tuner to ignore it. I don't know if it is as good, it is certainly a lot easier. I am also curious if it is the same. I have mini max from H&S.

    • @themichiganoutdoorsman
      @themichiganoutdoorsman  Před 4 lety +3

      My extractor works a little better if you can tap in on the extractor while turning the extractor to get it to bite. If you have a torch and can heat it up that would help.

    • @themichiganoutdoorsman
      @themichiganoutdoorsman  Před 4 lety +1

      I ended up accidentally breaking mine, I think I have one that I was able to save, but I know if you have your delete tunes then it don’t matter if those sensors work because the tuning lies to the computer and tells the computer a different temperature so you don’t regen any more.

    • @shaggy232350
      @shaggy232350 Před 3 lety

      My truck was worked on before I got it. It still has the egr and coolers on the truck but it has been "deleted" so it doesn't regen. Only problem I have is when I load the tow tune or a tune that's NOT a tow tune but is at or lower than the tow tune, about every other time I start the truck, it throws a code for an egr fault. I clear it with the tuner and it doesn't come back on until I turn it off and crank it again. I contacted the shop that did the work but it turns out they got burned by EPA so they said they couldn't do anything to help...like check the tunes for something that is causing this. So I'm worried that when I actually delete the egr, will I run into a problem? Plus I am worried that something related to the coolers could start leaking

    • @themichiganoutdoorsman

      Does the sound come from the rear of the motor? It could be the up pipes to the turbo is cracked. They are prone to doing it after the delete as they lose the bottom support for the pipe. You will see some black soot on the firewall of the truck. That’s all I can think of right now.

    • @Derrikw1808
      @Derrikw1808 Před rokem +1

      It’s more from just the driver side and there’s no soot, I think I might have not tightened that manifold block off plate tight enough and it might be leaking. I’m planning on taking it off and putting some gasket sealer on and I’ll get back to you on whats going on from there

      Attached to what? Isn't there something on the egr that has a plug attached to it? Did you put tape over it so it wouldn't get water in it? I thank you for taking the time to make the video. Are you going to leave the uppipe that the ebp sensor and tube is attached to on your truck? These are prone to cracking at the support bracket and this allows exhaust heat to hit the firewall. I have read about truck catching fire. This is what I was referring to about removing the uppipe and putting that thick blockoff plate there, right behind the turbo. You need to drill a hole in it, tap it and attach a fitting (I'm trying to find out exactly what that fitting is called and what size it is) so you can attach the ebp tube to it. The tube is long enough so that you don't have to lengthen the wires for the plug to reach. If you will, send your email...or email me at shaggy232350@aol.com. I may have more questions. Thanks
