My favorite place for fragrance oils and lye is Nurture Soap:

    Mango butter: amzn.to/3fdo9nx
    Shea Butter: amzn.to/3WoYARh
    Other tools you will need:
    An immersion blender: amzn.to/3gPnlWf
A soap mold-you can actually get very creative with this and use things that you have on hand, plastic containers work well or buy one here:
    amzn.to/3Dk2qCo
    Digital Kitchen Scale:amzn.to/3UnQO8r
Gloves - I like nitrile gloves, they are stronger than latex and better for use with chemicals: amzn.to/3U0SvYU
    Goggles or safety glasses: amzn.to/3WoWvor
    Instant read Thermometer: amzn.to/3U6KIJf

Made my first soap ever today! Thank you for sharing this video. How long is the cure time, and what's the best way to store it while curing?

Yay for you! I just slice the bars and put it on a cookie sheet lined with a towel or waxed paper and then flip them around every week or so. Many people who make a lot of soap have racks that they put them on so that air can circulate around the bars. You should let it cure for 4 weeks.

Is this a hot process soap?

Can I substitute the lard for palm oil every time? I also noticed that you add salt to some and not others. Can I add salt to all of the bars to make them harder? I do prefer a harder soap.

Yes, you can add salt to any recipe. For whatever reason I sometimes forget. It's always a good idea to double check when you swap out oils. However, I have checked and double checked and I believe palm oil and lard are an even swap. If you are ever doubtful please use a lye calculator and double check.

@@pageabadie3751 I should add that what you are looking at when deciding to swap out oils is the SAP value. Lard has an SAP value of 0.138 and Palm has an SAP of 0.141 Both of these numbers are give or take as it can vary in lard depending on how the animal was fed...at least that is my understanding. If you superfat a soap recipe it really helps to take the fear out of having a soap that is too lye heavy.

Hi if by any chance we wanted to make this a a turmeric bar how would we go about that? I’ve been trying for so long to figure out the right measurements

@@bronzebeaute5057 Depending on the shade you want, you can add 1/2tsp-2 tsp/ per pound of soap base. 1/2 tsp would be a rather pale shade and 2 tsp would be darker. Don't exceed 2 tsp as it will settle to the bottom. Mix it in when it is fully melted but before it comes to trace. I hope that helps!

Hi what would you replace the lard with? And how much? Thank you

@@kinyawilliams7439 You could look into swapping it out for something like palm oil, however, you must run the new recipe through a lye calculator because palm oil and lard are different. Any time you change a recipe you must re-calculate it to make it safely.
