Primal Carnage, a title that revolutionized the dinosaur gaming genre and touched the hearts of dinosaur fans and gamers. At a time when most online dinosaur games ranged from poor to mediocre experiences; Primal Carnage stood out with its gorgeous visuals, unique gameplay, and realistic looking dinosaurs. Although Primal Carnage wasn't perfect or highly balanced for a competitive multiplayer title; it had innovation and a talented indie studio to make such a concept into a reality. Even so, with the cancellation of Primal Carnage: Genesis, the disbanding of the original team, and Primal Carnage: Extinction not as popular as its predecessor; the series faded into obscurity and became a shell of its former self. And yet, Primal Carnage lives on. Its influence can still be seen in other popular dinosaur games such as Ark: Survival Evolved and The Isle. This is the story of Primal Carnage. - Hry
It honestly makes me so sad that 90% of this game’s history is “they had this cool thing planned, but then it got cancelled, too.”
Oh hey Pesky nice to see you edit: sans is coming for you
Dondi's paws ruin everything they touch
Pesky of your assignment is to inform us know how you want a good day please find the attachment of my life is
The Game needs more LOVE!
Yeah I’ve had for a week and it’s really fun
ArchShiranui for this event and we need any assistance
From the developers...
Ah, yes, Primal Carnage: Extinction. It is such an awesome game.
When I was a young kiddo, I always wanted Primal Carnage. I played it almost every day. I got the game because I'm a dinosaur fan and it's the reason why I got it.
I eventually saw Primal Carnage: Extinction. As soon as I saw it, I just wanted it so bad; It's the reason why I got my first computer and why I got steam! I'm happy I saw Primal Carnage: Extinction. I played it all day because of how fun it is.
Sadly, the game has died. It just makes me upset to see people leave the game. Just the lack of updates. I really love this game. I just wish this game didn't get so much hate. And most of the developers left.
I wish this game comes back to life. It was such a successful game, but there are no longer updates.
Smokey most of the devs left to work on the isle and my theory is that genesis was cancelled because they decided why not make a whole new game? That was how the isle was born, so in a way the primal carnage universe is being worked on. This is because the isle and primal carnage are set in the same universe and that is why the isle has the magnatyrranus. It is literally the primal carnage rex being worked on and placed into the isle because they are in the same world. Therefore when you look at the primal carnage games they are just the first segment of the storyline and the isle is the new game being worked on.
Don't know if you're aware, but Extinction has started receiving new content updates in the last few months again.
Yo if u still play it wanna play it with me my steam name is:COATZ-FN-_-
Guess what...new update
They're adding ceratosaurus!
Very glad to have been with this game since the very very beginning, and still am. Great video.
Ironic enough, the isle’s head developer Dondi, actually was an employee at Lukewarm Media and the Magnatyrannus is based of primal carnage’s T. rex. The only thing is, Dondi says the primal carnage T. rex was more close to what Jurassic park had, while the magnatyrannus has the proper tyrannosaur anatomy
The game is making a strong return. The Current Developers have added so much new and exiting content that i feel the game is doing better then when it launched in the first place. Its slowly shifted more towards more of a "Tf2 Hat Simulator" style game, but that income from items is what's bringing in the income. That income is whats given the game good content such as the long awaited Ceratosaurus as a secondary bruiser class with a unique kit. In the most recent update, the humans have also received all new animations for pretty much everything. With all this stuff happening slowely but surely, i feel Primal Carnage as a series is very capable of making Genesis a real thing after so many years. If the money and team is there, then Genesis CAN happen at this point.
Well they need money and money fuels updates.
If you are watching this video in 2021, primal carnage extinction has resumed active development and even has an active discord. Ceratosaurus has already been added to the game and the pachycephalosaurus will release later this summer. It gets fairly regular updates with lots of bug fixes and content. Check out the game if you are on the fence about buying it, it is in a much better state now than it has been in a while.
Hello I'm from 2022 is this game worth trying?
@@jrogon5072 If you are interested, go for it. It is getting a large update next month (I think) that redoes Tupa as a class, improves up several other dinos, and has all sorts of balance and graphics improvements.
I'd really love to see more youtubers do these sort of "documentary" style videos on the dinosaur game genre.
wow, you did such a very very good job man, after watching the video i am like amazed about the story, keep going bro and don't leave you will be big one day, i know :D
Primal Carnage does look like an amazing game with so much potential. After watching this video, I actually came up with some ideas that may revitalise the old game.
Ideas:
1. New dinosaurs: Skins and slightly different models are good and all, but they should really try to add new and interesting dinosaurs, with maybe some diverse abilites. And not just more carnivores, but deadly herbivores as well. I can;t believe they never saw the potential of ankylosaurus or triceratops!
2. New humans: With all the new dinosaurs added to Extinction, they should really added new humans to balance everything out. The key feature is that the humans must be really cool, since they are competing with dinosaurs to be chosen by players
3. A progression system: Like in your video, the problem with Primal Carnage back in the day was the lack of it not having a progression system. They could easily add a small one where killing certain dinosaurs or humans (depending which class you choose) gives you expereince or cash for you to spend on clothing/skins or weapons/abilities. Plus when killing another player in game, all their points will go to you, giving an insentive for people to get into battles for the loot of others.
4. New factions: Imagine how cool it would be with new classes of characters to choose from. Maybe other prehistoric animals, people who ride dinosaurs or other animals, or maybe even battle mechs or robots. This is set in a world with powerful technology.
5. Lore: The Isle is very popular for many reasons. One is because of its mystery of where the dinosaurs came from, the company that made them, and the other monsters that are found in the game too. Primal Carnage would gain so much attention if they hinted at lore themselves, encouraging more people to join their servers to seek out clues, and make videos online depicting there findings and theories on social media, there by making more people interested in the game, and where it's headed story wise.
Your 1st and 3rd wish are granted and for the last one, we'd only need matpat!
They did a really great job with this game and they need to keep it up! we love this Game!!!
Good job man I finally understand now of what happened.
8:58 I LOVE THIS MUSIC SO MUCH, I USUALLY LISTEN TO IT EVERY MORNING, EVERY EVENING, ACTUALLY EVERY DAY!
Great video man. The first Carnage was my gateway to gaming. It’s why I even got steam. If I hadn’t got Carnage I would’ve never played Team Fortress 2, Half Life, and other amazing games. Too bad it had to die.
Primal Carnage isn't truly dead because Primal Carnage: Extinction is continuing to receive updates. However, it is very unlikely we'll get a new Primal Carnage game anytime soon.
I think Primal Carnage: Extinction should get a sequel, not a dlc or a update, an actual sequel, a new game. I think it could take place on Earth and do sort of War story and could use a lot of improvement gameplay wise. And I think a tv show adaptation or movie would be a great idea.
This was the first game ive ever bought i even pre order it and i remember even finding so many bugs but still it was funn for example in the original primal carnage you can download and play as the compy by downloading an addon that would automaticly go to the raptor default skin, so if you go to dino select then turn on airplane mode then choose compy, then turn off airplane mode and choose petra you can acctually be a flying compy, good times
I love that you went through the effort to make this !
Its happy to see that the devs for extinction return to the game and restart work for it!
Weird how this popped up outta nowhere soon as the update dropped
considering PCE just ironically enough got its own 2.0 patch after so long maybe a follow up video would be neat, interesting to see how the update changed things
This game was soo old but it's still alive this game deserves all of gamers and dino gamers love this and I think we need to give it more love for it to be primal carnage 2 or somthin
Ps:u deserve a sub
Lets take a minute of remembering of the fun and good memories we had with this great dinosaur game that i loved will love.
This game still has hope and everyday i come backand play primal carnage extintion and find not toxic players and have a good time.i think this game should be loved like among us and if every kid would know about this game maybe instead of raging 9 year old playing fortnite we would have a good and happy kids playing a good dinosaur game and i cant say enough how good of a time having playing this game and i cried at the jurassic movies but them remember that this game exists. I recomend this masterpiec of a dino game it might not be the best but i love it. I wrote this because my kid self wont let dinosaur stuff go. Im sorry for my bad english im hungarian
Actually is the adult dilophosaurus in extincion??? How can I get it??
This is, beautiful
There's been a small resurgence of players for Extinction ever since the devs came back and started cranking out significant updates, starting with the Halloween update
I am aware of this resurgence and I plan on making a follow up video exclusivity on Extinction, and how the game has risen once again.
Dinofeak Entertainment awesome!
Oh yeah Ceratosaurus is coming back too
I think the game is coming back baby, now all we need is adult dilos and cryos
The only time I stopped playing this was when I when on a cross country tour with my dad, grandpa, & my dog for 2 months, last year. Other than that, it's so good to see so many people playing again. Maybe I'll see other people playing as the Carno as well. I don't know why, but that's the ONLY dino I seem to be good at. Is that odd? I'm honestly asking.
Razsor97 me always seem to be best at rex and yeah overall in the week of playing it’s been pretty fun
T-rex spinosaurus Acrocantosaurus carnosaurus mostly don't do good with small dinosaurs
No wonder I only see brachiosauruses in the game, but they do have paras as your feeding resource.
Primal carnage is the game I played growin up and still play to this day. I mean yes it has gotten updates recently for PC but us console players love the game with or without the update
Take a look at their twitter...
So the isle dev team really is just the primal carnage dev team in a way, like how Dondi works don primal carnage before the isle.
while the ps4 versions in a state of disrepair the pc versions thriving with the new updates looks like it's coming back to its former glory if you ask me
Thing is, Dondi from The Isle has said that they now have the assets from Primal Carnage and maybe the rights to it too. I've heard that the two games could be in the same universe but this was from years ago so I don't know if it's still true or ever was. Fun thought though
Back in 2017 I loved this game but now it’s not good 😭
*_I wish they had added all the left out dinosaurs and finished Genisis_*
Well hopefully primal carnage can live on two due to posable development being made honestly I think what they need to do if there gonna start development again is be open with the the fan base and maybe take what it says into consideration overall I do hope it succeeds
Primal carnage extinction is my favourite game
I agree
They back soon :D
In 2013 instead of it being quiz racing on dragons they decided it would be human vs Dino combat
Such a shame. They should have just kept updating the original.
Yknow, as poor of a start this had, this game I think is making a decent comeback. Sure there's not thousands of people playing it, maybe not even hundreds, but the player base is still alive, and I am one of them. It can be a fun game once you get the hang of it, not to mention the amount of customization included for both humans and dinosaurs. Overall, it at least came close to what it aspired to be, and I think that's good enough.
You never know what Virtual Basement has cooking next!
I want a surviving like game like the isle but not path of titans it don’t have enough dinos atleast not yet
Guess what
I thought it made a comeback?
i was wounder how this game was made
Why genesis and not ark
Everyone listen we need ps4 to. Get more updates the games still super popular but it dieting slowly so quick help ps4 get more updates
RIP Primal. Screw Dondi for ruining this gem. Wish I got the chance to play the original. PC:E just isn't the same.
Shoutout to dondi for ruining one of the coolest ideas on the planet
Who is watching this after 2020’s Christmas? Whoever is & plays Primal Carnage Extinction would know, Primal Carnage is better before!
lol nop its not revolutionary and its not really touching hearts .. its very clear that its one of a dino knock off games or a Jurassic park rip offs .. i never heard of it or even know any one who have it .. its first time i see it now because of ur video ( its also not a classic lol its a 2012 game not 1996 ) the only dino game that is revolutionary perfect & has a unique style away from Jurassic park is ( Dino crisis ) but what ever .. still gonna give u a like ;) even if i hardly disagree
I don’t see how it’s a jp ripoff
