One reason I love ereaders is you can carry so many books with you everywhere you go ;) I have a device, but I just use the Kindle app on my tablet or phone most of the time. I love highlighting or making notes without defacing a physical book. I usually listen to audiobooks simultaneously. Pure joy.

Thank you for sharing! I didn't realize Kindle was an app... I thought it was a device that was a competitor to kobo. I'm not very techy at all lol... seriously, thanks again for sharing your experience!
      Fawn 😊

what ariel mentions about her ereader is exactly why I love reading on my ipad now! being able to see how many minutes left in the chapter is soooooo motivating and I just read so much easier now!

I did the opposite of Ariel this weekend and actually picked up a hardcover book after exclusively reading ebooks for almost two years. It really made me appreciate my ereader! So much re-angling to avoid shadows on the page (bad lighting in my house) and so many more hand cramps than I remembered. I’ll always love physical books because they tie the memory of reading each book to a physical object- but in terms of the actual reading experience, I’m grateful for my ereader!

My joints are also betraying me due to a autoimmune disease and holding up a book is a workout lol. I got a book pillow that holds the book open and holds it up a bit and that has helped a lot. But the E-reader has been a life saver for my reading

Same here. I have multiple autoimmune diseases (a muscle disease, two connective tissue diseases, arthritis, neuropathy and others) as well as genetic connective tissue disorder. I use something called The BookSeat, and it has been so helpful.

Ariel's joy over the eReader is perfection, lol! Welcome to the club! Also really makes me want to get a kobo... My library uses cloudLibrary rather than Overdrive, so I would still have to do Raeleen's hassle and connect/download manually, but my Kindle won't accept ePubs at all and only being able to read ebooks on my phone is the WORST. I was thinking of just getting the Clara 2E but Ariel is really selling the Libra lolol....

I also have EDS and I love my ereader. I can't really cope with hardbacks anymore. Getting an ereader massively increased how much I read! BTW, ereaders are actually frontlit, not backlit! It's like having little led torches on your page and is why it doesn't give you eye strain like a phone might.

I love my e reader for travel. Don’t check the sale pages!!! Classics are usually almost free. I knit and crochet or walk the dog while listening to audiobooks- most from the library. 📚

I'm also having my eReader renaissance. I use mine mostly in the same why in that I tend to use them to rent the books that I already have from the library so that it's easier to read on the go. Plus I feel like I also read more on the eReader somehow? I'm not sure why it seems to keep my attention span better than a physical book these days. There's also the added benefit that I can read before bed and not have to get up to turn off the light lol

I read pretty much exclusively on my Fire tablet. The only size Fire I bought/will buy is one that feels like the size of a book. I've tried reading on bigger and smaller screens and it's just not comfortable.
I have no plans to ever buy an ebook. All the books I read on my tablet are library owned via Libby (I preferred and still prefer the way Overdrive worked, but I guess I was in the minority). If I'm going to buy a book, I'd want to own the physical book so that I can share it with someone later because I rarely reread books.
I prefer reading on my tablet primarily because I like to read in bed and I don't need a lamp and can read on my side. And when I fall asleep, the ereader doesn't lose my page when it falls out of my hand.

Library use is region specific on the kindle and only works in the USA. Kobo connects with Overdrive/Libby in Canada

    Should I get an e-reader? 🤔
Can an ipad do the same? 🤔
    I don't an ipad yet either... 🫤
