I agree about the taste. I like them and want to eat more, there's something addictive about the taste, though friends don't think they are appetizing. I was so excited it produced the first year, so I was grateful to have some fruit of any kind.
I have a Li Jujubee. Doing so poorly last year, had one fruit last season In 10a. Hope it will do better this year. Bought a new Jujubee called Sugar Cane. I LOVE THIS FRUIT SO SO MUCH!
I tried a dried Li Jujube and it was delicious! I'm considering adding this to my yard, perhaps in a container to prevent the runners, and maybe espalier this tree to reach all the fruit. It's Jan 2024, how is your tree doing now?
I decided to take the tree out. As much as I love it, it is just a little too invasive for my yard. I captured one and put it in a pot. It is doing ok, but the growth rate is much slower in a pot.
I know these are supposed to be self fertile, but another video remarked that the production is better with a second tree for fertilization. What do you think?
I think it would be better with a 2nd tree but you probably won't need it. I get plenty of fruit. I would start with one and if you feel like you need it you can easily add a 2nd.
I have only had 1 sucker so far. I have this far away from the foundation and haven't had any damage to the water pipes or wall next to it. I water deep to encourage the roots to go downward. Time will tell.
@@dirtygnomesgardens1667 thanks. I really want to grow this tree but I’m hesitant because the furthest I can plant it is 15ft away. And I’ve read about the damages it can do, so I’m like paranoid 😩🤣
That might work. I'm sure it would grow back if you did but you would have to be selective with your cuts. Another option might be trying it in a container if you don't want a large tree.
@@dirtygnomesgardens1667 not a fan of container gardening specifically fruit trees... I saw in ind they grow these and cur to almost ground in winter and than only keep 4...6 shoots when it wakes up from dormancy out of many
Mainly because I don't prune much in the summer. I also prefer this tree growing straight up. I don't want it to bush out much. Most of my other trees I keep shorter.
Beautiful and blessings too your food supply. 🎉

Thank you! You have the best video talking about jujube tree growing!
Thank you for the kind words.
Great video and commentary on the Jujube! Happy gardening from London England 🙌🏽
Thank you! I'll have to check out and see what you're growing over the pond there.
@@dirtygnomesgardens1667 always welcome to stop by my channel 😀
Thanks for the video. I learnt what I needed to know. Cheers
Thanks! I'm glad it was helpful!
Awesome. I’m convinced I will put one one!
I’m sure you know that” We also use them to cook it with dry jujubes “ 🤤
Lol 4:35😂🙂 the Story about the tree grabbing 😂
Very informative, thank you
Thank you! Glad it helped.
Amazing jujube tree, I like it,
I have different variety of jujube here at Arizona, I wish if I can get some cuttings from this jujube?
My favorite 😍
THATS A LOT OF GROWTH IN A YEAR 😱😱😱😱😱😱😱

I hope it does better for you this year. These are so good. Maybe the Suger Cane will do better for you too.
Try a little fertilizer on it. Mine made a huge change when I did.
Where did you buy it?
Can you tell me where to get it?
Excellent video, I love to eat jujube
Thank you! Yes, these are so good. Im getting flowers on now so won't be too long.
This is amazing 🤩, I have different variety of jujube I am at Arizona also, I wish if I can get some cuttings from this nice jujube?
👍

Why are some of my mulberry leaves curling up????
I used to get fresh jujubes in farmers market but not anymore:( .
Could you trim all the growth up to the 5ft so that the spikes are not child height?
You probably could you would have to prune it a few times over the summer and the tree would have a tendancy to be taller and fruit higher.
Do you have issues with roots damaging foundation n water pipes?

I hear you. I heard the same things. You could always try growing it in a large pot.
@@dirtygnomesgardens1667 thanks!
can we prune to only 1 feet? instead of 5 or 6 feet in winter?
That might work. I'm sure it would grow back if you did but you would have to be selective with your cuts. Another option might be trying it in a container if you don't want a large tree.

Yeah It should work out and the mulberries are very tasty. I've seen similar strategies with Moringa trees.
@@dirtygnomesgardens1667 yes I already have shahtoot mulberry...love them since childhood
The bag is for protecting from birds?
Yes. The birds love these.
Why you let it get so tall? Harder to pick fruit

😆
Never heard of a Jujube🤪
it is desert tree and fruit taste close to apple .
Those nails will keep them raccoons off your trees!
So you're saying they're good for something. 😀
