It's kind of sad because they really r trying to move as far away as possible from kids and their other pop type songs but it's just leading them to obscurity. I mean I loved Congratulations I thought it was their best album. But a lot of people seemed to not like it.
preach i personally love congratulations album. people just loved their electric pop songs like kids and time to pretend which are good songs but people dont understand the beauty of mgmt's other songs like siberian breaks or lady dada's nightmare

I feel bad for them honestly. They make such great music and every song has it's own unique twist but they're being forced by their own fans to live in the shadow of Kids, Electric Feel, etc. I was at the Durham show. The entire performance was great but the crowd only got pumped up during like 3 or 4 songs. It was pathetic.

Wow, the guy giving the interview is completely sporting that John Lydon look with the plaid suit jacket and bow tie. Maybe his attire could be a wink and a nod at the genius and great influence of John Lydon who never really won an award from a "prestigious" academy. Well, at least MGMT aren't among the grand majority of shallow celebrity hounds present at the grammy awards. Nice to see the other band member give recognition to quality pop music icons such as The Beatles.

I really like MGMT's album Oracular Spectacular, but after listening to them live, I don't know. I wonder if they are a good band or just ran into the right producer.
They are good . They worked w Dave Friedman the goat but that doesn’t mean anything a lot of good bands run into the right producers .. Ik this comment is 11 years old but u should listen to congratulations or LDA both masterpieces and show that no matter what genre they want to make music in they make bangers
And yeah live they ight but Andrew’s voice live has progressively gotten much better over the years and a lot of songs they make are v difficult to play live
