I continue my commander tutorials with Swann. He has tons of firepower, and excellent position holding capability. However, his macro can get extremely involved. This video is about his general build, which consists of Goliaths and Siege Tanks.

A few tips/tricks for Hercules tank micro:
Make the control group with both the tanks and Hercules. Whenever you want to load the tanks, hit the hotkey and right click herc, then move the herc past the tanks. This let's you load tanks faster because the herc doesn't have to accelerate/decelerate between siege tanks.
Use "unload all" on the herc, not the ground. This unloads the tanks instantly and while the herc is moving, instead of the herc going to a spot, decelerating, then unloading tanks.
If you're some form of god, you can micro damaged siege tanks behind other tanks or units via right clicking the tank, then unload all on the herc. Not exactly practical, but can save you gas in the early game, provided you don't get supply blocked in the process.
The herc is tanky af. By loading your tanks into it, you can mitigate splash damage, such as nukes on mutations or void thrasher lightning. (I personally used this on the Boom Town mutation many months ago. Tac jump to dodge nukes after loading tanks. Didn't lose a single siege tank).
Interesting and good tips about acceleration. Why do you specify the same control group though? Don't you have to reselect the subgroups anyway to make it all work?
Finally!! Of all Coop commander, I find Swann the hardest to play unless I go mass Goliath/SV Without thinking. So appriciate this vid a lot (esp on how to manage tank and hercules)
I play mass Cyclone. In the early stages micro the fuck out of Cyclones to make use of Lock-On. Then you get enough Cyclones to just barrel any challenge.
I am definitely guilty of tryharding with the herc micro and failing lol. There isn't much shame in going mass goliath because mecha are awesome, and the game mechanics of mechanical units are hard lol. But damn, is it _satisfying_ smashing 8 tanks down and having them instantly fire off siege shots or what!
@@Anolaana one late game I had like 4 her full of siege tanks or so. My Ally had AA and I dropped them down on the enemy. It was glorious.
Mass Goliaths + SVs works unless the enemy composition is a Robo Protoss or Mech Terran.

For me, I honestly really love going mass Wraith as Swann. Its just feels so satisfying to me...plus I also love to use what most people don't seem to use.
Mass Thor cyclone is THE satisfying composition that no one can use.
It's quite slow, so you need good knowledge of the game to know where enemies spawn
Thor bombard is your bread and butter, with cyclone rapid fire lock on to focus down targets.
Thors don't die. Ever. Immortality protocol is too good.
I like Wraiths too, but I've never figured out how to properly do the "micro step" thing to maximize their damage from that upgrade.

I love Swann (it's simple yet brutal straightforward units) but I often struggle with keeping up with my teammate. I will give this compo a try.
For those wondering about the lag. My internet was very unstable that day due to extreme cold temperatures, and so my people on the internet at once.
I've seen this before... I play this at a video game lounge, and as some "freak accident", I get booted off a game in progress. I tried doing internet searches... no connection. Other people around who were gaming had the same reactions... "what the heck!?", and groaning that they got kicked off the match they were in.

I've never minded leapfrogging Siege tanks forward manually. However, I could use a pace of change, and gotta try this now. Esp. since I've been reminded that you can pick them up while sieged, and the Hercules carry capacity is 32 units of size.
In this map, there's a easy way for swan to steal the birds by the drill.Just a fly unit held back of it is ok

It is not useless, but he already made SV with free heal upgrade. So he probably want to reserve the cost for upgrade to get extra SV that also do that job instead probably. In any case, if you have extra resource and macro time, I wouldn't see why not.
@cbalinefour cba1 Agreed. If you're playing a Mission that takes longer (25 to 30 minutes), then you'd probably see more usage out of that in that case
Tbh I like going quite a few SCVs to repair my army instead of science vessels. Science vessels distract from making tanks and goliaths. Especially where there are comps with heavy AA or scourge. However having a decent amount of science vessels for detection and shields is great. I had goliaths tank entire siege tank lines with it

I perform worst with Swann, unlike the newer commanders who allow you to focus on only micro or macro because they have simplified mechanics, it's tough keeping up with both for Swann.
After playin zeratull for few weeks, started lvling swann and damn its so much harder lol xD So much micro//macro and beeing offensive rly takes alot of apm
Swann is hard to play because he units die so easily. I think Blizzard should buff him.
To maximize amount of damage tanks do, can u move command the bots into enemy line to attract fire so that you can drop tank closer to the enemy line?
