    Why is Tudor not capable of making its gmt watches thinner ? Gmt is not a big deal complication today.. it probably is the cost, but still, should be able to find a way as Rolex's sister brand

    • @OperationNonsense
      @OperationNonsense Před rokem +5

      Simple. Rolex doesn’t allow Tudor to cannibalize Rolex revenue. For the same reason every single Tudor watch, despite how good they are, always have 1 massive deal breaker built into the design. Rolex will never allow Tudor to thrive at their best.

    • @rodsalvador3608
      @rodsalvador3608 Před rokem +2

      @@OperationNonsense yup I've been expressing this view on various websites and totally agree. Tudor can make a better watch than Rolex, but they won't. The shield protects the crown, after all.

    I don't get why great brands like Tudor and Omega can't make sports watches which are 11mm thick or less!? It's the one thing preventing me from looking at watches like the Pro.... yes I'm sure it's a very hard thing to do, but I wish they came up with thinner movements. I would even go for a manual wind version of it was 10-11mm... that would be awesome

    • @omarion07
      @omarion07 Před rokem +2

      Ok few things to note here… 11 mm and below are considered dress watch territory or something that Patek or AP would do. Even Rolex timepieces which are considered relatively thin for sports models are between 11.6 to 12.6 mm. I think it’s unrealistic to ask for WR of 300m, in house movement, PR of 70 hours and price range 3 - 7k USD and want a thickness of less than 11mm. I’m no sure about how thick Omega Co-Axial calibres are, but I know that Tudor calibre MT5652 inside the Pro and GMT is relatively thick which explains why the case is thick is well. Norqain, another brand that shares the base Kenissi calibre with Tudor also have thick cases (>14 mm) which shows it’s the thickness of the calibre that’s resulting in thick cases. I think it might to do with cutting R&D and manufacturing cost. It might cost Tudor much more money to produce a thin GMT calibre which will force them to increase the prices of the GMT and Pro lines and as a result encroach on Rolex GMT master ll and Explorer ll lines which is a no go for the Hans Wilsdorf foundation.

    • @ZachFrank714
      @ZachFrank714 Před rokem +1

      For Tudor, I think it has to do with the movement architecture & company relationships.
      For Tudor to "fix" the GMT movements flaws, it would turn into a 1-1 of the Rolex GMT movement, which would create too much competition between the sister companies.
      If you look at the current Tudor GMT movement, they are already pretty similar, specifically at the escapement and balance systems (minus the balance wheel material).
      With Tudors designs coming from classic/vintage Rolex already, to slap a modern Rolex movement in (which typically go for the price of a new Tudor if you try to purchase the movement on its own) would actually diminish the value of Rolex.
      For Omega, I think it's actually the technology involved. Omega has a pretty complex escapement system that adds some thickness but also drinks power (IE the double barrels). The movement technology is great and incredibly accurate but adds thickness

      @@PepRex The submariner has 100M more water resistance than the 58
      Tudor will never release a technically superior watch to Rolex. If the Pro was 12mm thick and $4000 USD, it would crush the Explorer 2 value and sales
