Cate Blanchett is such a legend in acting, she could play a character where she's just sleeping or play a tree and gives one of the greatest performance of all time and wins an Oscar
I saw her play a tree once... she was so grounded in her role... really rooted to the material.
That’s so funny

SO EVERYBODY FORGOT THAT SHE S A WEINSTEIN FRIEND?????
As much as i want michelle yeoh to get her first oscar i really think cate really made a huge mark with her incredible performance as a Lydia.
Cate Blanchet is the rightful heir to Meryl Streep's title as the "Greatest Living Actor, male or female, in the English-speaking world".🐐
Her performance was riveting and deserves a second viewing.
She doesn’t need THREE Oscars
Credit where credit's due
@@raulputong331 totally! ❤
The movie is very good, but Cate's performance is absolutely outstanding.
The “good” is a matter of opinion to be fair. Her character is unpleasant and unsympathetic (intentionally) but also uninteresting. Her performance was a force and huge achievement, but that’s something else. Many people “hated” the movie.
@@mellocello187 "The “good” is a matter of opinion to be fair." Yes, it's my opinion.
@@mellocello187 this is a very pointless comment. ofc the good is their comment so is their comment on her performance, so yes both are opinions 🙄
@@knsnsy It’s not a pointless comment. The point was for anyone reading the “good” comment to realize that many people did not like the movie at all so they can do a little more research before spending their money and 2 hours and 38 minutes of their life that they will never get back.
@@mellocello187 well anyone reading will know that it’s only that person’s opinion 😃 i thought it was todd field’s weakest film but anyone wondering about the film can go experience for themselves without taking strangers’ comments as the new testament
She had a once in a lifetime performance in Tar. We will be talking about Lydia Tar for years and her performance will be best of the decade or high up there for sure. Just give her all the awards.
Cate is so sweet to hug Guillermo, she is as beautiful outside as she is inside, best actress of her generation and we just love her !
Well, she just made a far joke about him, so she owed him something
Her performance in Tár blew my mind and soul off. Just gripping, riveting, exquisite, powerful yet so so sad. And Nina Hoss?! Damn, her acting is stunning. The more you see the film, the more you grasp those subtle nuances. No need to mention Todd's mastery. And I'm in so love with Todd and Cate duo 😭
Nina's acting is great. I still remember her face with a mixed feelings when Lydia looks Sophi in concert hall.
@@hylee6857 ikr. So subtly superb. Only if Nina had some more scenes, she's going to be an award shows' favs... not that awards matter, are good at or important in defining artists' works. But, still tho.
I wasn’t too impressed with Hoss, and I’m confused by the praise. She did her job like you’d expect any good actor to do. But was it outstanding? I personally didn’t think so.
@@hts8420 It's fair. As you say, she is a great actor and she gave a great performance. So, I think the praises are also quite fair. For me, Nina was fabulous. My fav part about her performance is that she didn't flinch a bit. Because Cate has such a presence in a frame , it may be hard to even be visible sometimes. Yet, Nina's ability to remain subtly powerful against and besides Cate is strategically gorgeous. Plus, sometimes, she even seemed to be the main control of their relationship. Her performance is dynamic, futile, nuanced and simply clever. To add more, her eyes' work is outstanding. Her eyes stayed consistent. They were always in this atmosphere of constant judgement and calculation in every scene with Cate. I think her performance is outstanding.
@@yessssand that’s interesting. I guess I didn’t pay as much attention. I’ll have to do a rewatch.
For those who haven’t seen it yet, Tár is an incredible film. The kind of film that deserves repeat viewings for its mystery and a main character that’s so fascinating to watch. And Cate is an absolute force, which seems redundant given her enormous talent, but seeing her play a conductor that keeps you guessing is truly one of her best performances to date. I love Michelle Yeoh and I wouldn’t mind if she won. Andrea Riseborough is equally incredible and truly deserves to win as well. But there’s something about Cate’s performance that had me in sheer awe. The power she possesses onscreen is a sight to behold.
I love Michelle and thought she was excellent in EEOAO. Yet to watch To Leslie. But what Cate gives in Tar is an absolute masterclass in acting. The movie itself is stunning. As much as I would love to have Michelle be the first Asian Best Actress winner (I myself as South Asian), Cate absolutely deserves this on the quality of the performance.
Hopefully, Risborough's nomination will make the academy voters focus on sheer acting ability and not sentimental favourites. That's how Anthony Hopkins won over the late great Chadwick Boseman. By this standard, Cate Blanchet's brilliant performance is supreme.
Although I’m in a professional choir and the world of music I found the film just grey and dull. It was like “look at this great film we made”. But I understand it’s doing really well critically and lots of people like it so just not for me personally
Saw TAR twice yet 🌟💎

She and Michelle both are deserving. Very tough choice.
That’s greed & favouritism.Other actors deserve recognition as well. She already has 2 Oscars.
She's forever Galadriel. So graceful and intelligent.
True! I must think of LOTR with her role always
Cate has style, class and talent😊
She is a truly exceptional actress.
Remind me what do we call a legend....oh yeah "Cate Blanchett"
deep
This film is certainly not for everybody. I personally think it's a masterpiece. But what's undeniable is Cate's performance. It's truly one of the most vivid, impressive, subtle, and powerful performances in recent memory. What she's doing in nearly every scene is hard as hell, and the style of the film isn't helping her hide or cheat in any way. She's full exposed, and absolutely pulls it off every time.
She really IS another person in EACH one of her films...it is amazing...and probably amazingly hard work...
The WEINSTEIN FRIEND
Conducting, speaking German, playing the piano, the accordion, and a powerhouse performance on top of that. Please give her an Oscar!
The gravel football field in Tasmania is the real deal. Some real tough AFL players started out playing country football in Queenstown Tasmania

In case people were wondering, yes there is a town in Tasmania (Queenstown) where the local footy field is a gravel pit. Before each game it is hosed down (to get rid of the dust) and then driven over with a 10 tonne roller to flatten out
Finished watching the last of the 2022 best picture nominees, and Tar is my favorite of all 10. Hope it wins as many awards as possible, especially Cate for best actress!

@@carlobalzeri6840 So, guilty by association?
This movie should have won Oscar, lets not even talk about Cate Blanchett being CRIMINALLY ROBBED for not winning the leading role. She was absolutelly mindblowing in this film, it's incredibly incredibly difficult role yet Cate mastered it so realistically and beautifully that you believe her to be Tar in every scene, with every gesture, every look, every move. Just surreal, really. It's beyong SHOCKING that Academy didn't awarded her, instead they awarded Michelle for Everything, Everywhere, All at Once. I watched that film too and Michelle can't level up Cate Blanchett's performance, she can't come not even close to maestro talent Cate is and the performance she gave. She rather seems like a school student compared to Cate. I am still in shock, I kinda lost respect for Oscar this year; it seemed really more about politics than about awarding the best talent/best performance.
Politics man, that's all it is. I even saw some post talking about "white supremacy" speaking about the actresses who won the last Oscars, like when you are white, you are guaranteed to have an Oscar...
True that.
It’s all about politics, all 4 winners were for their career narrative and not the performance. If it was about performance, winners would have been Butler- Blanchett- Gleeson- Condon
Michelle Yeoh gave the most layerey and vibrant performance of the year in the most successful indie movie of 2022, she won best actress fair and square. Stop putting other woman down to praise for your fav, It's just disgusting and i don't think Cate Blanchett would like to see this as well
@@kimo_leopoldo in which universe would politics benefit women of Color since they only won like 2 best actress in 95 years of Oscars??why is it so hard to admit the winner gave a career-best performance in the most successful indie of the year?
@@hatelovebowel4571 Michelle yeoh winning over Blanchett was a result of Acadamy's favouritism and Yeoh's strong narrative, performance wise she doesn't even come close to what Blanchett has done in TAR

That's how good of an actress she is! I always thought she was British!
Hearing her dialogue from Lord of the Rings & her playing Queen Elizabeth I, non British actors can rarely pull off convincing accents like Cate can!

One of my favorites with Cate Blanchet is Bandits. I think it must have come out the same day as Harry Potter or something. Definitely funny bone movie. She was brilliant in Elizabeth. The Oscar nod should have gone her way.

Bandits was wonderful. Very funny.
As a huge fan of Cate Blanchett as an actor and public persona, I agree she is amazing. I am thankful for CZcams for sharing so much insight of her work, personality and influences. I too regret she did not get any Oscar recognition but it’s “just an award”.However, I doubt the little metal statue is why she does what she does which we admire her for including her previous remark of award shows being akin to horse races and telling it like it is.
I wish her true fans had a way of showing their appreciation other than just watching her performances. I am glad Michele was finally given recognition for her work after all these years as well.
Thank you for sharing this clip with us. ❤
She's so great.
I love Michelle but it would be a shame if Cate doesn’t win. Her performance was exceptional.

I was fascinated by Lydia from the first minute of seeing her, when she’s prepping to go on the interview. Cate Blanchett is a prodigy to bring her to life in such a raw way. Her performance is only comparable to Isabelle Huppert in The Piano Teacher. Complex, twisted female characters filled with pain and hate.
