- In today's video, I show you how Manchester by the Sea portrays grief through their cinematography. I'll also go over the pre-production process and what equipment Jody Lee Lipes used to create the look for the film.

I still think about this movie…it slips into my subconscious from time to time and it just struck a chord with me. A truly moving film.
I'll think about it every fortnight or so, but I haven't been able to rewatch it in a few months. It's incredible.

Such a great film. It’s defiantly deserving of the praise it’s gotten and I hope it continues to get more praise as time goes on. Defiantly deserving of the awards it got as well and probably should have won more.
This is an incredible film. I've watched it several times over. The Canon Primes were a discovery for me :) Apparently, they were Canon's answer to the Zeiss Super Speeds back in the 80s.
It's one of my favourites, Affleck's performance is just so captivating.

I've been wanting to breakdown Lubezki's cinematography for a while, Children of Men breakdown coming Tuesday!
Its great people are still talking about this movie, or thinking about it, because recently it feels like people kind of avoid Oscar movies for being pretentious, but this one is not Oscar-bait, its just a fantastic film. The way it approaches realism looks so effortless, but ofc that's such a tough style to nail in movies, you really have to be an expert screenwriter and director to have the movie function but still feel like its capturing an awkward, unsentimental, flawed reality. I hope Kenneth Lonergan makes another film soon, we need this sort of style again, rather than leaning too much on escapism, idk thats just imo
