Kirill Petrenko announces the 2019/20 season of the Berliner Philharmoniker

- The start of a new era! On 23 August, Kirill Petrenko conducts the Berliner Philharmoniker for the first time as their chief conductor. At a press conference in the Philharmonie, the orchestra and its chief conductor designate announced their plans for the 2019/2020 season.

I'm very happy to hear they're going to play some less-known works like Suk, Enescu and Gliere. They're my favorite but orchestras just don't want to play their pieces, finally one of the greatest orchestras in the world takes on the challenge!

I'm definitely excited about Petrenko's desire to program and record lesser known works. It would be great to have a world class take on undervalued gems, instead of just re-recording the usual suspects that are heavily represented in the discography. Although if Petrenko's "Pathetique" is any indication of what's to come, the Petrenko/Berlin team will be quite competitive in standard rep.

Sein Deutsch ist ziemlich gut!
Er ist ja auch schon als Teenager nach Deutschland gekommen. Schön, wenn die "Berliner" wieder mal einen Chef haben, der Deutsch spricht.
Er studierte ja bereits in den 90ern in Wien an der MDW. Kann mich noch erinnern (wir besuchten einige Fächer bzw. Vorlesungen zusammen), wie seine Anfänge mit Deutsch damals klangen :)

Was für ein grosser Künstler, dem die Musik in seinem Herzen liegt. Sein ICH ist nicht im Vordergrund, sondern der Komponist, seine Musiker und seine Sänger und Sängerinnen. Wie er von Frau Petersen und Frau Damrau spricht zeigt, dass er sie sehr schätzt, als Künstlerinnen aber auch als Menschen. Er spricht immer von "Ich möchte"....und nicht "Ich will"... Wo findet man eine solche tolle Einstellung noch in der heutigen Zeit? Ich wünsche Herrn Kirill Petrenko von Herzen alles Gute, Gesundheit und Gelingen. Auch ein gutes Umfeld, so dass seine Arbeit und sein Einsatz sehr geschätzt und unterstützt wird. Ich konnte auch eine Karte zum KKL-Konzert in Luzern ergattern. Dann darf ich ihn sogar LIVE erleben. Freue mich sehr darauf!!!!!!
