1:31 So in Europe each country has both a Cup and a League Championship. The cup is what you could call a mid season tournament (independent from the league itself) where the top teams compete in a March Madness knockout like format starting from Final 8 usually then final 4 and then the final 2 teams compete for the cup. It's not regarded as important as the league finals at the end of the season but it is still regarded as a very big thing and teams always have 2 big goals at the start of the season, winning the cup and their domestic league.
Now , teams that compete in the Euroleague also, which is the league that takes the best teams out of all domestic leagues across the countries of the whole continent and has them compete against each other, the ultimate pinacle of European basketball, have 3 goals. Winning the cup, their domestic league and in a dream season the Euroleague as well. In Europe that's called the triple crown.

The thing is, with the culture in Europe. Fan groups in certain countries truly operate like gangs. So at the end of the day as the players in the video said it stops being about the love of the sport but it's about bragging rights for the city. For example i can speak for Greece , Olympiakos and Panathinaikos are both in Athens. The rivalry goes back decades and the acts of violence between the fans goes back decades and hatred for each other often gets passed down from generations. There are areas where you shouldn't work around wearing red at (Olympiakos colors) and areas where you shouldn't be walking around wearing Green at (Panathinaikos colors). And the owners of the teams often use certain groups of fans that operate in that manner for their dirty work. So when you see these crazy things like brawls they often have motives relating outside of the basketball court, the basketball game is just an excuse for those people to go at each other.

One thing I agree on with these big dudes. Its impressive. No matter if ur 7ft or 6, u gonna get murdered if u do the wrong thing. Thats putting players in place, theyre there for the fans. Ot the other way around.

I love to be fanatic, but you never hurt any players physically. It hurts also your own club. Heavy fines, no more "Away" fans, parents with kids won't go anymore, less TV viewers, so less money.
I am a Dutch football fan, but my wife is from Pireaus, Greece. She watches Olympiacos only in Euroleague basketball.
Sometimes I watch with her, and I see my calm wife turn into a cursing, screaming fan. It's hilarious to see.

Me and my cousin still can´t be in the same room when Red Star Belgrade plays Partizan Belgrade and we in our 40´s now. After those games we don´t even talk to each other for days or, if it was an important game, even for weeks. As teens we used to fight hard after the game ´cause one of us would start trash talk to the other and it just erupts. But after that we got our second beating. Our fathers would fuck us up hard. I remember after one game he broke my nose and I broke two of his fingers on the right hand and after that my dad broke my butt with the belt. I had stripes from the belt and couldn´t seat for a whole week. Two weeks later we together hoopin outside and we exchange stories. My uncle slapped the shit out of my cousin so hard, his ears were swollen and rang for days.
