The entire album was produced by Bruno Mars and D'Mile TRIVIA: Bruno has twice been nominated for Grammy's Producer of the Year, Non-classical and has written and produced on his entire discography and collaborations/features with other artists. His first successes in LA were as a songwriter/producer before his first studio album was released.
Yea man here's the deal with 70's r&b and soul albums...typically they had about 9 songs (albums could only hold so much info compared to medium nowadays). Out of the 9 songs 1 or 2 would be slow jams (like this one)...some of the classic slows featured rain and tears..Silk Sonic just encapsulated those trend in this album and did it masterfully.
Honestly what I’ve heard from this album so far, it does sound like they have perfectly captured an era of music and took it to the next level, it’s so impressive!
The primary reason is when they try to fit more songs, the narrower the grooves (physical lines cut into the vinyl, not the vibe of the song) and the more likely the needle arm will skip. Back then the turntable arms were not as weighted and balanced as they are now.
I first came across Anderson with "Make It Better", which is a song he did with Smokey Robinson. You should take a listen, it's very nice. So, I wasn't surprised by this song, but for me it is by far the best track on the album. Simply stellar.
Hands down "ALBUM OF THE YEAR"
