    Nice to see you do this without any fancy tools, the same way one rolls on a bicycle chain. Some companies really push their little tool, presumably for smaller pulleys.

    I use a heavy duty zip tie through the balancer to hold the belt, that way my hand is free to hold the belt on the compressor side.

    This worked for me on my 2011 Ford f150 5.0. I didn't have as much room behind the crank wheel, but I got to slip behind it enough to get it on the AC pulley. I used 3 heavy duty zip ties and took my time turning the crank pulley. It went on, but I had to rotate back and forth to get it into the groves on the pulley wheels. Thank you so much for this video! I did it in half an hour!

  • @mediocreman2
    @mediocreman2 Před 2 lety

    I was hopeful about this method, but unfortunately it didn't work. The most annoying thing is the 24mm bolt is rounded so the socket falls off constantly. You need 3 hands to do this.
    What did work was a small wrench under the belt with the box end turned out. But unfortunately once it was on the crank side, the belt slipped into the crack behind the a/c pulley. Which meant I had to reverse the engine to get the belt out, which is bad.
    However, I did eventually get it to stay on.
    I just read about the zip tie method. I'll try that next time.

    Dumb question but I’m a broke kid and can’t afford to replace my compressor okay so, I’m pretty sure my compressor is seized since the small “strech belt” seems to be just rubbing against it with no movement on the pulley and a horrible squealing noise i believe it just connects back to the crank I have a serpentine belt which powers the water pump, alternator etc… but what I’m wondering is if I can unplug the ac clutch connector from the compressor and cut the small belt off completely and just leave it off since I can’t afford the compressor as I mentioned. Am I able to still drive it this way without obviously having no ac would I be damaging my engine or anything?
