For me, those clean tones are the best example of 'perfect' strat tones I have heard .
Fell in love instantly, the things never leaving my board
Matt in 1959 I was 3 years old , I played my first bass at age 15 it has a huge 1968 Fender P bass and it was heavy and bigger than me , my friends said be our bass player Mark ,
I said okay.
Thank you Kanye, very cool!
@@ArmanBaig modernity has failed us
@@benddawson I'd love if it we made it
Ive been looking for a late 60s tele bass but they all weigh 10 lbs
@@MatthewScottmusic most all do weigh at least that
I think your amp itself sounded better than either of those pedal tones
I agree.....but without an old fender amp this pedal ist great. Even with software like Guitar Rig etc.
I thought exactly the same thing
Best "Stevie in a box" I've found was a Super Six made by a company named Love Pedal. Works well to simulate a cranked Super Reverb. So, works well if you have a generally clean setting and add the pedal to it. I'm not sure how it would sound to an already cranked Super though.
Yup - the Love Pedal Super Six Stevie Mod together with a Klon is pure SRV gold.
I found the Super Six first, then I found the elMo by Klamac and now I've found the Double Trouble by Honey Bee Amps. Super Six is great but there's some better options if you ever look to upgrade.
Thanks for the suggestions!
kingtone bluespower is a great pedal also.
@@jeffdubuque5622 yeah, only $325 lol
My favorite overdrive. I don't think it will leave my board anytime soon
I was already sold on the Duellist but always wanted your take on it. Brilliant
Love the Duellist man, and their Ge Fuzz, Jesse and Kingtone are killing it! Great Playing as always!
Jesse is an amazing player. I saw him play back in 2000 with The Hoax...such a showman. I was grinning for like a whole week afterwards...ringing ears ever since though haha
You just got the right feeling Matthew.. amazing
I’m definitely a pedal guy! Don’t get me wrong, the amp is definitely the most important thing, but pedals are great! This one particularly sounds great and seems to be of great quality. Great video matthew and great playing as always!
The yummy tone is in the power section and the speakers, preamps and pedals are the seasoning, and you can't skimp on garlic!
alobstersjohnson absolutely!
Jesus I thought that you were dave Simpson!!
djdt77 love that guy!
I was always under the impression that amps should give your dirt but lately I'm really enjoying pedals like The Dude and the Vertex T-Drive and the Bogner Blue Ecstasy pedal....they are all KILLER!
dude that clean tone at 2:40 is the clean i’ve been trying to get for months!!
Turn the bass down more
Why and when did i comment this
@@IHurricane lol
I somehow managed to find the same comment
@@IHurricanewhere’s you
Wow 😮
And your demonstration was outstanding. Great chops. Thanks.
Jess Davey. HELL of a player. Blew my face off in 95.
Simply terrific!
I’d always been a guitar to amp guy for 40+ years and I’d played a friends rig, with this pedal, and I was hooked!
This was last August, and since then I’ve spent $5K on pedals and my pedalboard, and now I can obtain ANY tone I’m looking for and am surprised at the tones I didn’t even consider. So, this is all new too me, but now my sound is incredible!
Thanks for the videos and all your help and hard work! It’s much appreciated.
Best! ✌🏼
Stashman fpv. I kinda go through different phases over the years between being a straight in guy and a pedal guy. But I agree, pedals are just so much more flexible and you can usually do it at much more practical volumes. I can plug my Duellist into my Elmwood Modena m60 (which has a old plexi type clean) and I can sound like I’m plugged into a cranked super reverb at reasonable volume. Love it!!!!!
Pedal sounds wonderful.
A true guitar-to-amp guy was once called an " Angus ", now it shall be called a " Matthew ". Kudos dude, guitar, high end cable, amp, chops for days...Perfect.
I’m sure the pedal is great, and the guitar and amp are stellar. But it’s your chops that win the day. You’re a gunslinger!
Great playing but, This pedal can do so much more.... you can get so much great sounds out of it by turning the knobs and the different positions of the micro switches on top. In my opinion it’s really the best dual od there is.
I like it a lot!!
Wow! Some of those licks just blew me away! Had to rewind and watch again! It sounded awesome!👍😎🎸🎶
That tone is insane Matthew. Killer
GREAT SCOTT. MATT!!! YOUR SOUL-SELLER STEVIE AND JEALOUS FATHER ERIC, ALL IN ONE PEDAL!!!
Great pedal, it even looks amazing.
That is a lot of drive!!
The elusive thing about overdrive is keeping the voice of the guitar rather than just distortion .
Your playing is always on point
Yeah mate, sounds real nice. That strat’s gonna sound sweet regardless.
That's a Great Pedal! Well done and thanks for sharing brother!
Be Well Matthew!
Those knobs look amazing.
Dude your playing is so amazing, the tones you get are crazy too
Sounding tight as usual man keep bringing this awesome content out my dude. Rock on🤘😝
Look up to Matthew and love his channel awesome player and doesnt talk bulls**t
In a blind test, people would never know the difference between SRV and you. I believe you have nailed the tone, but more importantly his style, but made it your own. This isn't the first video I have seen of you, so I know you know how to play really well, and you do.
Love your videos keep them coming very inspirational and educational
I like this pedal alot on drive A with the glass setting on it
I believe you got you a new best friend as far as pedals go. Man that is you. I would love to hear a pair of pearly gates run through that thing. It definitely woke your amp up. Awesome demo. 2thumbs up..
Funny you made this video, ive been itching for one for weeks and pulled the trigger yesterday
Really appreciate your open and honest reviews! I have 4 kingtone pedals and love them.
I actually prefer the blues power to the duellist for my overdrive tone. Duellist is great for copping others tones. Blues power is much less compressed, more transparent and open and dynamic. beautiful boost to gain pedal. That and a fuzz and you can cover it all.
Love the channel and the playing!
Cheers
I agree about the BluesPower but I didn't bond w his Ge mini Not sure but maybe just not a fuzz guy although I do have a Diaz and a Joe Doc Tonebender Mk1 that are working for me
For fuzz I have to dial the volume back to get the tone I like. The ge gets very close to blues power this way.
The blues power is great also cause you can stack it with just about any od and it does wonders. I’ve tried it with my Jan Ray my zendrive and my Solo Dallas, klon, Ts10, bb, I’ve tried it with everything and it sounds great with either one of those pedals I just mentioned. It really is an amazing pedal. Ain’t many things out there that can not only boost but go into full with the eq options it has. The thing I like most about it is being able to get some of my super stubborn Amps to break up with out trying to dime the volume
Both channels seem to take anything put into it but if you should happen to do another video of this pedal, make sure you put both channels together so you can blow all our minds out!
I have a few KingTone pedals. This one is pretty damn awesome. The Blues Power pedal is amazing and so is the mini fuzz. All three are on my board and I’m totally digging what they’re doing for me for what I’m looking for in terms of tones and overdrive.
Got one. Pretty good. Wish it had 3 band EQ. For now I've gone back to two stacked Wampler Clarksdales (Wampler's tube screamer with 3 band EQ).
I’ve had mine for a while now... basically a modded tubescreamer and a blues driver in one pedal. Love it. I own the octaland as well, another great pedal.
The Marshall side really got my attention. Nice demo.
I use a Boss GT8 and a Peavey special chorus amp.
With this setup I run the amp on the clean side ( 3/4 to full dime on the volume and roll back the presence to about 10 o clock)
This gives me pristine clean tones and when I hit it on the attack she breaks and responds just like glass. If you have ever owned a Peavey bandit then you know exactly what I'm talking about. They don't call them missippi Marshall's for nothing. I get all of the tone and half of the weight.
With the gt8 I can get any tome that I want. Skinnard, bto, CCR, Sabraba Hedrix what ever I want it's awesome. I setup all my presets on my laptop using midi and I'm ready to rock on stage.
The only thing that I would do different is replace the blue marvel speakers with a set of Black Widows. ..... 🤘❤🤘
Matthew, great fingers, lovely tones and good honest opinion.
Very much enjoying your videos as always. Looking forward to the refret. Thanks for sharing.
PEACE 😀🎸
Great, useable sounds for gigging or recording. I definitely hear SRV and EC tones which is not a bad way to go ever. Your playing was really good and your finger vibrato is excellent. Really good demo!
I’m gonna go buy that and try it. I’ve been playing 30 years. I can’t hear overdrive and distortion’s very clearly. I just run an OCD and a Jackson Ampworks. I can hear every nuance in a delay pedal and am an expert at that. I will take your word for this and try it
That sound is Great !!
Playing also 👏
Goddamn man ur absolutely a fantastic guitar player. And really perfectly emulate the SRV style. Just really good shit man im impressed when i watch you
That is insane tone. You're well up there with the best.
I have the duelist and the germanium fuzz king tone makes. They are forever pedals. I love them.
Playing is high level when you let loose bruh 🤙🏽
Great playing and demo!
Very good! !!!
Yeah, sounds great.
Sounds Great
It's definitely one of the better SRV pedals around. I think it just about nails the Dumble+TS thing.
Just watched one of your videos, saw that notification...had to click. Amazing Stuff as always!
Yeah, I find I'm moving away from that tubescreamer thing, after using a broken one for a good decade before it finally said "no more!". I used it like a boost and have replaced it with two local built ones (I'm in Melbourne, Australia), listing them seems redundant, but I am anyway, I've swapped in a Hotcake (made in New Zealand, which is a little Australian insiders joke) as a clean boost as it's amazingly transparent, but it's tone control is so usable and I can compensate for how my old Fender is behaving/misbehaving, dialling in gain is really precise. For that more crunchy overdrive I have an amazing Klinger MK2, which as the name suggests is Tonebender MK2 clone, super Yardbirds/Beck tone thing going on, it can get a little crazy, but there's a sweet spot just before the crazy where it's big but the guitar and amp still retain their character. All part of the journey
As always your playing is fucking amazing
hey man im a big fan of yours
Sounds sweet !
Damn you ! After watching this one I just bought mine on Reverb ahah
They both sounded great but for different styles. The SRV tube screamer side really worked with your playing! with some tweeking you will get that sounding great! I usually use a Boss Waza Blues Driver into Fender amps.
It’s a killer pedal. I wasn’t super happy at home when I first tried it and then took it to a gig where it was absolute bliss. Not sure it can dethrone my Analogman King of Tone but...it’s a different animal.
Gr8 sounds as always awesome
Great video! Have fun in Austin!
I have an old Silvertone that sounds exactly like the second channel of that pedal. That is a great sounding pedal for sure and obviously your playing is always outstanding.
Hey Matt, it's Don again, I love the Duallist, I have it on my board along with the Blues Power, the Octaland and the Fuzz. Jesse Davey pedals are fantastic.
In your opinion what's the difference between the Duelist and the blues Power?
@@BrianDonnelly68 it's all a matter of different colors for different songs. I play in a band with a harmonica playing singer, we play blues, swing, country, classic rock and surf instrumentals. I also use a wampler paisley, nobles odr-1, and an original ts808 for all of their various colors. The blues power is very transparent and enhances my amps and has less color than the other pedals and because of that, I use it the most.
@@donaldnelson8764 Interesting, thanks.
Hey Don, yes it is a great pedal.
Good review. Seems like a worthwhile pedal. Very well played, as usual.
this pedal makes this rig sound outstanding ......im not a big pedal guy...but i use them like everyone else.....but to build a house you need a good foundation.....ur amp n guitar got that in spades bro
God damn bro your playing is sick best player on you tube hands down
That sounds amazing. That might give my Wampler Plexi Drive Deluxe a run for its money.
I love your videos dude. 👍👍👍👍👍👍
3:15 GREAT tone!
Great review...👍🎸🎶🎵🎼
I really love your playing though. You're an amazing player.
Awsome sounding pedal
Drive A was my favorite. But overall awesome
Interesting pedal. Would have liked to have seen more of the settings that you used for the sound you produced with this pedal. Others you may like pedal wise. Light speed. Is an awesome light or moderate overdrive. Its very organic normal driven tube sound. You can still hear the single strings ring out. Its just impressive for a pedal under $200. The other is Called an F56 pedal I believe its built by Caledonia. It has a sweet tweed sound and can make most amps sound almost as good as your 59 Bassman
i,m diggin it..
Awesome tones!
Seems great
Awesome ♥️
very cool
The bluesbreaker pedal is always a nice pedal on its own and for boost, the pedal just got a personality and sound great boosting everything, nice little mid push IMHO
I am a huge fan of your clean tone Matthew. The other sounds you throw at us are killer too. But the clean , oh Hell yeah!
✌🐉💀👽🎸🎶🎵🌌🛸🧠
Sounds great.. I personally like side B 🙌
Nice tones amigo....
Matt you should try and get a hold of a fairfield barbershop and demo it for the channel!
Matt- I had the similar reaction when I got my Duellist! I really liked the “BluesBreaker” side... just had great boost, more than enough grit, and a very full frequency response...
Killer pedal! His fuzz pedals are fantastic too!
BTW- if you are a fuzz guy (not sure you are), but DanDrive fuzzes are fantastic!
Peace!
Canadian baby amazing pedal
HEY MATTHEW!!!! i have wanted one of these for a while so if you ever want to let it go hit me up.
I’ve got this pedal, it is fabulous, sounds great, much better than all my other pedals. Use the glass setting on the tube screamer side. Then no matter what you choose it will be great or greater… drive at 11… :)) just saying
Seems like the 59 strat is really inspiring to play.
Every adjective used to describe this pedal is "super" 😂
Just to be technical the two switches on the front it was a toggle switch is the blue switch in the back when you took the cover off that's a dip switch just saying
I like clean with just the amp
I know that's the only modern version of a duelist but I think vintage on vintage sounds better than vintage and modern put together.
