    I really like magswitches. From feather boards to jigs, they are great as you don’t need to make everything to fit your table saw or bandsaw tracks, and they can actually make you work safer as you’re more apt to toss on a quick feather board, jig, or whatever when you can quickly attach it to your table top. They also make great stops! I really have no use for the two magswitch devices on this video, but I can certainly see the benefits they could add.

    I like the idea of magswitch, glad to see they're innovating. I bought one of their drill press fence kits a while back, with a gold colored aluminum extrusion (the kind with lots of slots in it). Unfortunately the extrusion was not flat, about .01" of bow in it. They were apologetic and sent me a new extrusion, which was also not flat. So, I ended up making my own L-fence out of some mdf. It works ok, and it's shorter which can be handy sometimes on the drill press so as not to get in the way of the chuck. Love your content.

      Definitely one of my favorite tool companies. And I’m certainly lucky to have met Andy.
      Some of the Magswitch tools are a lot more than just convenient, they’re real game changers in the shop! That drill press fence is killer, and I’ve used the vise base every single day since it got here. The majority of the time before it just wasn’t worth the effort to pull out the vise. Clamping it down was archaic compared to this.

    Hi James - thanks for this video, these magswitches look amazing..!
    Hey, can you tell me what type/brand of blade you have there in your table saw, for that production work? It must get really hot moving so much material across it, so I’m guessing it’s a top line blade. Thanks!

  • @mrupholsteryman
    @mrupholsteryman Před rokem

    I am an x ray tech and work at a place where we see quite a few saw injuries... one unfortunate young man was actually in the process of making some push sticks to save his fingers....😪
    Can't name names due to Hipaa...but yeah....I noticed that you had the Sawstop and you still chose to step up the safety level..
    I have not done much word working lately due to my full time gig...but if I had to cha get careers... and would be doing a bunch of production work....that Sawstop will pay for itself the first time you have the blade get wrecked instead of your body part(s).
    Thanks for sharing these neat tools!
    😇😎

      @michaelkeymont501 Před rokem +1

      I took off the end of my middle finger… twice… once at the table saw and once at the miter saw, due to simple carelessness. Same finger, same spot. Thankfully nothing too bad, but the 6 weeks it takes to grow back seems like an eternity when you need to work.
      Tip (no pun intended…) for anyone who does something similar: after the 2nd or 3rd day, start applying frankincense around the wound. It speeds up healing DRAMATICALLY. You can get it from any essential oils dealer. Pricey, but I use it frequently. Maybe too frequently……….

    👍I like the Magswitch design philosophy- simple fixes to problems - re the drill press vice base a small observation, it seems to me that four twist knobs is redundant you could fix a single cam lever so that pulling a handle on the front of base switches all four at once, just a very minor improvement, perhaps you could pass onto your friend who helped design it (Kline?)

    Power feeder- how do you ensure the rollers are parallel to the saw blade?

    • @KingsFineWoodworking
      @KingsFineWoodworking  Před rokem +2

      Hi! You don’t want them to. You want to tilt them very slightly towards the fence. This way they keep your wood very tight against the fence. It’s how all power feeders operate.

      I’ve had great results with Woodowl bits from Taylor Toolworks. I have to do A LOT of drilling through end grain, which can be very tricky. I use a horizontal boring machine and those Woodowl bits with very clean holes.

      @@KingsFineWoodworking LOL, I actually hadn’t watched that far into the video to even see what you were using. I manufacture parts for an audio company, and they have parts that are 2” long with a 9/16” hole straight through the middle of the end grain, and that hole has to be dead straight, exact size and flawlessly clean on both ends. Right now I’m working on a batch of 200 with another batch up as soon as these are finished. Woodowl is worth every penny!
