One hack I stumbled upon in my guitar journey is anchoring the wrist on the bridge of the guitar and then try speed picking... it's much easier this way than leaving your wrist in a floating position
I've always liked your teaching style, I've been working on picking most of my life. Legato in Satriani/Holdsworth style took me less than 3 months to get down to the point where I could pull it off cleanly. Picking, I've spent the last 15 years doing countless hours of picking exercises and recently figured out that my grip was the problem, my instinct was to hold it in the most stable part of my finger/hand, turns out that I needed to bring it closer to the last segment of my first finger, almost like a pen/stylus type grip, I just didn't have the musculature developed in those areas to make it even remotely comfortable at first. So yes, you can literally waste your best years with this if you get the mechanics wrong, and it won't matter how many hours you do, so pay attention to your pick grip, position, and mechanics. I figured this out watching youtube videos, which means, everyone else should be to as well :) When you finally get it, it's better than winning the lottery, well, at least it was for me.
I know this and Forgot it!!! Duh. The last couple weeks it re-occurred to me 50 years later!!!! You are spot on!!
Never leave CZcams, KING.
🎸🔥
I miss the floating guitar studio set. There's too much stuff in the background, I find it distracting... well, I guess this bong isn't going to smoke itself.
This is great. Thank you.
Thanks Claus.
Wow !!! This makes perfect sense!!!
I see your point, but you can still play really slow AND very minimal movement at first before speeding it up.
Excellent explanation
Lol, dude. That was a good video, laughed a few times
Great lesson. How can I practice speedpicking from string to string? (through multiple strings or all of them in a row)
Take it for what it is worth but I learned a simple lesson from Paul Gilbert decades ago that helped me with changing strings. Play 3 notes on a string and then add one note on the string below. It allows you to practice the movement you need over and over without anything else in the way. I play 3 notes on the string go down and hit one note and then come back to the first string and go down and then back up and then the note below. The cycle is String 1, note 1,2,3, note 4 on string below then notes 3,2,1,2,3,4….After you get it down go the opposite direction and hit one note on the string above. Hope this makes sense.
Awesome.
You just had to take the Army Brown T-shirt today Claus ... to clash with the pearl-pink finish? Oh, it was the roasted maple neck ... that don't match ;P Nice video, playing and name!
Clauss, great lesson. Which pick you recomend for flamenco guitar?
That's a spot above'r !
I injured my hand 17 years ago....still struggling with speed and string skipping , I've learned to enjoy my music and just escape, that's why I started playing as a kid....aspiring to be jason becker and darrel abbott ....if i hadn't have unlatched that rear loaded trailer the hitch would have never smashed my hand into a hitch....live and learn ....
Good stuff....
That was a beautiful run at the start!
You can learn similar runs with the speed infusion course, on sale now. Basically the whole course is very long runs where you blend arpeggios with alternate picking sequences. You just learn a lot of new pathways across the front board.
Thank you
Sar I need video how to create melody feel like a very lovely
Practice?!?!? I’m stopping the video….
Just play normal when you record and fast forward your video speed hahaha
