I kinda lost a little interest in my keyboard hobby when I realized how expensive it can be, but man this keyboard is really clean and I'm digging it a lot
Its not a bad little pickup. I got one and did some mods on it and it's great if you need BT and portable.
might we drag you back in? There's PLENTY of great budget boards out now and you can easily get great builds sub $200. The nice thing is, whatever board you're looking to build, like a polycarb or acrylic case or maybe aluminum with a weight...there's plenty of great budget options now. I love my kbd67lite and the entire build cost me around $200!
I know how you feel man, I have spent over $1200 last year alone on boards, switches, deskmats, and cables its a lot to be honest but I think if you find one board a year that you like it should be a fun hobby to continue to participate in. I like this board and I think ill also get my a Nuphy75 after i sell off some of my other boards
@@ultimomos5918 I guess 200 is not expensive but I would call it cheap. And part of the hobby is using and motifiying lots of boards not just 1. I have a $200 board but changing out parts or getting a second board is quite the investment.
@@dylaanowen yea its really up to you how into it you wanna get. My first board was about $120 all together and it's what I learned on, the KBD is my first like TRUE custom. Some people do go bonkers though and drop tons of money right off the bat.
Personally I've turned it into a little bit of a side business venture. I build and sell custom cables and also offer build services for others and use those to fund any upgrades or parts i want for my own boards. Still though, If you're ever interested in getting back into it there's a ton of really great, budget friendly options available now! Just thought I'd mention it :)
I loved having the Soundcomparison Side by side, also I didn't know how crazy pe foam is. Good job!
Thanks!!
Yeah the PE foam does the magic!
@@3ildcat hi want to ask, what is the thickness of the PE foam?
@@kazirasostudio9660 it usually comes in 0.3 or 0.5 mm thick but im not sure what the difference would be, i have 0.3mm thick pe foam in my board and it makes a massive difference, just if it gets too thick and you are using regular mechanical switches it increases the likelyhood of bent pins, i bent pins on 5 switches out of 61 but i just unbent them and they are still working fine after about 6 months, hope this helps
@@3ildcat why you did not put paper tape under the pcb? xD
@@techalex1992 its called masking tape not paper tape
I love the sound I also appreciate the blue switch's self-awareness: it jumped off the table on its own before you could tell it to get lost 😂
Haha I admire you everytime I see your creative perspective and expressions
@@3ildcat 😂
Lo pro blues are actually quite good in terms of tactility and sharpness (much better than full size MX blues imo). But yeah, they're still clicky lol. The sound from them is also much cleaner and less rattly too (though quite loud).
Super surprised that even low profile switches can benefit so much from lubing. The PE foam non-tape mod setup was my favorite with the poppy sound, especially on the alphas.
This is the kind of modding I like watching and doing myself, I always take my time to make it precise and as perfect as possible. It's slow but feels really worth it in the end to have wonderful results.
For better results!
Great build! I actually opened the cap and did a proper lube on the switches, and although it did get rid of some scratchiness, in retrospect it's not worth of the hassle.
Thanks for this guide. I've had my air75 for about a year now and made the plunge to mod it. The tape mod is really the biggest changer IMO for this board.
I bought this one a while back because I wanted a slimmer keyboard I could bring in my backpack, but I ended up liking it so much that it's my daily driver at my desk now. Will definitely try out the PE foam some time.
Im considering buying this Keyboard ¿could you please tell me about the battery Performance using it with the RGBs on and Off on you usual task with it? Thanks in advance
@@luisalbertmorlasanchez3020 I type a LOT on this keyboard for work daily and have actually yet to run out of battery! My laptop uses USB-C power (same as the keyboard) and I very occasionally will plug the power cable into the keyboard to top the battery up, but only about once a week or so. Mostly though I have it wireless and I have never even seen it get low on power.
I usually have the RGB lights on the mode where they light up after a keypress (rather than everything flashing all of the time), but I imagine with heavier RGB use it would run out faster. I came from using a keyboard with regular AA batteries and they seemed to run out constantly, so I've been super impressed with this battery and how easy it is to keep it charged with the cable even as I work.
This was so informative looking at , and professionally handling the board was satisfying to watch 😄
This rocks and I think this is what my air75 needs! Unfortunately I am not very skilled with this and even broke a lot of switches when I tried removing it. I'll just look for someone who I can pay and do it for me, thanks for your work. The detail and effort you put in is truly astonishing, I can already imagine how patient you are with just this video. Keep up the good work.
Thank you. Did this on my current Air 75 keyboard. Made the sound wonderful! I used a 1mm PE foam which fits just fine in between, did the holes using a 4mm leather puncher which came out nice. I might remove the tape though. I need a softer sounding one instead of the sound bouncing right back out. I might try adding a layer or two of PE foam at the bottom of the case.
At first, I had a hard time removing switch casing apart. Used an angled tweezers that I saw from another video. lubed the switch housing and the springs. Took me quite a while!
Loving the sound though. Thanks again!
Great results! Thanks for sharing.

Dang, didn't expect you to watch these types of video's. Ik love your channel and the builds have really inspired me to make my own setup more pleasing to the eyes and to my workflow. Such An coinsidence that you also like the custom keyboard community. Keep up with the good work 😃👍
May i ask you tho what does the wallpaper resamble, i mean the wallpaper on your monitor. Why so many day's?
keep the renovations up mate, love your content and dedication to the craft!
I just discovered this channel. I loved the craftsmanship and the smooth background music. It was all very soothing.
Maybe it's my inexperienced ear but it by the end, it sounded like Cherry MX brown switches (but linear)
Wow! One of the most unique, innovative, and outstanding builds I have ever seen. I absolutely love this one; didn't even wait until the end to post this comment. Thank you for the video, I am gonna be a subscriber for life because of it!
This is the exact vid I needed, thank you! These are the exact mods I'm going to make to mine.
This whole build was sooo peaceful!
Thank you so much for the video! This was my first mechanical keyboard mod so it took me almost 5 hours to lube all the switches and stabilizers since I opened each one of them. I also used the PE foam that came with the packaging of the keyboard and added two layers of masking tape to the back. I love the thockalicious sounds the keyboard is producing now.
My Air75 came with a broken wire coming from the battery, so I have to use it plugged in for now. Once I fix that small issue this keyboard will my perfect on-the-go keyboard.
Thank you for the video. I learned a lot!
hey! my air75 also has a broken battery wire. do you mind sharing how you fix your keyboard?
@@FaithAng i actually emailed Nuphy with a photo of the battery wires and they sent me a new keyboard. I would give them a shot first.
@@DannyViver I actually did end up doing that! Thanks man :)
Love it! Oooh the pe foam made it sound so goood!
I was waiting for this one, thanks :3ildcat !
Amazing job, and great result. Thanks for video, you've encouraged me to try the same modding.
Well done, mods did pay off and it sounds much better. Love the side by side alternating sound test and the b/w detail is top
I'd like to buy that keyboard after the PE foam mod and the lubing of the switches and the stabilizers. Makes such a difference!
Beautiful! Wish there was more variety in the keycaps
Was not expecting it to sound this good. Amazing work
man your videos are so chill wrtf
That PE Foam thing is a really good idea! I'd love to try it but man I'm sick of disassembling and reassembling my darn keyboard so much!
The dedication to your hobby and the meticulousness of your craft is incredible. I wonder if I have the patience
Aaahhh Perfect timing for one of your videos 💕
Ive always wanted to get one of these and put normal switches in them with normal keycaps i just love the look of the slim case
Just ordered this keyboard! Can't wait to mod mine once I get it.
Love this. This sounds amazing.
Any tips on lubing the tactile version of the switches?
The contrast is insane, but the amount of effort and experience needed to pull it off is way to great for the time and money invested, great video tho :D shows your dedication to the craft
Nice video as always. I would like to see you modding one of the low profile Keychron’s!
In the past I have used vinyl wrap instead of the tape mod. In my experience, it sounds the same but looks much better.
Wow this is so great, thank your for making this video!
loved the sound buddy and fells so good
The foam is such a great idea! You have so much patience cutting each hole
I hesitated whether to do it or not
@@3ildcat Sorry, super new in keyboard stuff. Just bought the 96, but what tool did you use to cut the holds in the foam? Also where can I buy the foam?
The dedication in doing this.. unbelievable. If that was me, I would be doing mutiple tasks in between lol
Omg i love this sound so muchhhhh. Thank you for the review, i need this hihi
amazing work as usual
loved having the Soundcomparison Side by side, also I didn't know how crazy pe foam is. Good job! 3ildHappy

I honestly recomend the holes. i did the PE foam in my kbd67lite and without the holes it was a tight fit and some switchs dont fully get pushed in.
Wow!!!! The difference betwen lubed and stock is so not different at all!!!
Amazing! Thank you for your effort on painstakingly lubing each and everyone by pencil. Must have been exhausting and mind wrecking
This man is a god. He makes keyboard sounds as he wishes, the stuffs in between he does it for fun...
:3ildcat videos always have such a chill vibe :)
Im on the hunt for this keyboard just because of this vid :D Thank you for sharing.
I also have the Nuphy Air75 it's a nice board! Definitely sounds better if you lube the switches and ofc re-lube the stabilizers. My stock stabilizers came lubed, which is pretty nice.
Great video as always!
You did! Thanks! 😻
I cant believe it- thats amazing! From a slim keyboard too!
I used to precut holes in the PE foam, but I realized that the foam is so weak you can just plunge a switch right through it and it doesn't damage the switch or PCB at all, so now I just lay a sheet in there and push switches straight through the foam. Works like a charm and saves hours of cutting out holes
Sometimes it causes issues. I had some switches popping out of their sockets when using slightly thicker pe foam.
@@carlangelo653 yeah they usually don’t stay put and tend to pop out a lot so cutting holes does take a lot of time, but like there’s no such thing as being *too* careful
@@prophe7884 I'm pretty lucky, there's an online shop that sells precision laser cut PE foam that ships country wide. It's also relatively inexpensive I paid around 2 USD for mine.
I also recently tried out some adhesive PE and Poron switch pads those also worked great. A bit more expensive though it was around 10 USD for 120 Pads.
Thanks for this! i couldn't get to detach the battery as it was stubborn so i just lubed and taped modded it and even just that it sounds amazing!
I will get to the foam and stabs later i guess.
question, what screws do i need to take the front screws off ( 3 screws separate from the others ) and lastly.. how do i detach the battery?
thank you!
That's honestly such a good sounding keyboard. Surprised!
looks really good, would buy this tbh
Two years later, and now the new versions of this board thock like the mod. Nice to see them taking pointers from the community.
What a unique design :0 your videos are really nice to listen to and watch as always :)
There’s not a ton of room in this case and even then the original sound isn’t that loud. Somehow you made it even softer and pleasant. Damn.
You dont need to lube if you think it is too much of a hassle, just put the foam and the result will be awesome enuff!
Seems like so much work to make it change how it sounds, honestly I noticed a small change in thockiness sound. But you put in so much effort to lube the switches and everything. I was just thinking if I attempt it, I would definitely mess up putting it back in the right order 😆 😂
Great work on a lovely keyboard!
Will there be a difference if a use silicone instead of PE foam?
What about a thin silicone layer on the bottom of the case?
amazing work
Thank you so much form making mods tutorial for low profile keyboard, i just ordered this keyboard and going to try to mod it like this. Your mod sounds great! Prefer it without the tape though.
Same! Good luck to your mod!
@@3ildcat i've done the mod and it makes it so much better from stock! thank you for sharing it
Wow, what a difference! Great job.
Have you ever used MLV (mass loaded vinyl) on the back of the PCB for sound dampening?
I feel like I'm going to spend way too much on a custom keyboard even if I do it myself, watching these videos is satisfaction enough. Don't want to regret spending hundreds on a keyboard that I might want to change later on.
Hey!
First of all thank you for your content. I’ve got n75 and did the same modding as you. Sound exactly like your variant.
But also i face some issues. For example my U key works only with hard press. I replace switch and result is the same. After a quick research i found a exact problem. U key locate between far away from screws and plate bends. Because of that contacts of switch don’t hit contacts on pcb.
The solution is place someting behind pcb behind U key. Back plate must press pcb closer to switch
great keyboard modding!
can you tell please, would it be goot to place PE foam at the bottom of pcb? because I want to have at least something from lighting effects of pcb, and with foam they will be even lower light than it is with that keycaps
Can I use the krytox 205 on the stabilizers as well? Btw love the video. I just ordered the keyboard because of you.
love stock sounds!
I tried to do the pe foam mod on this keyboard the other day but I think my foam was too thick. Maybe 2mm when not compressed? My switches snapped in fine but a bunch if my keys stopped working so I had to take it out. Any idea about how thick your foam is and where you got it? Thanks!
Did you put anything in the bottom of the case under the PCB? I was thinking of adding foam under the pcb, but not sure what size would fit there.
these videos are so aesthetic
Just wanted to know is there any problem with HS keyboards after 1or 2 year of usage or maintenance (after modding) currently I do have glorious HS Tkl and sk64 Tkl("optical")
It doesn't sound too bad stock to be honest. I'd love it either way.
That is one good-looking keyboard. I went to their website, hoping to find a full-sized keyboard. Unfortunately, they dont seem to have any.
Can you recommend a similar keyboard that is full-sized?
I deal with numbers quite often. I prefer a dedicated number pad in the right than the number row at the top as I can type numbers without looking at my keyboard.
Oh man I love it!
Very nice video! It is probably too much effort lubing so much switches, but i wish you could do a modded brown switches version too
My stock Nuphy Air 75 V2 already sound thock with wisteria switch. They got so much improvement in the current version.
Great job on kb. And thank you for showing that there’s almost no noticeable difference even after pouring in so much work & love.
oh wow, nice job!
FINALLY a low profile keyboard that looks nice... now they just have to make it 100 percent
This video is proof that any keyboard can sound better with a little bit of love.
I'm looking forward to mod my own keyboard, I got a question, can you use any board for low profile switch?
Amazing work! Also great video presentation.
Curious if this method applied to Keychron K3, would it achieve similar sound profile?
I guess you can but not sure of sound profile cuz they have different keycap material.
I'd say your keychron will sound deeper since there is more case volume. Lubing stabs is actually a must do, alone that will greatly improve the sound.
i think this one will be my next keyboard, it sounds very good and I miss the slim keyboards
I know this was done a year ago, but Nuphy just released the Aloe/Daisy/Wisteria low profile key switches. Any chance you're gonna take a look at them?
hiya :3ildcat! Can you tell me the size (mm) of the leather hole punch you used, please
I'd like to buy this one with brown gateron switch . Love the design and sound.
WOW. Amazing difference between stock and the modded keyboard. I would buy this keyboard in a heartbeat, if it came out of the box like that!
They came out with V2 last month and it has some layers of foam in it now! Along with some other improvements

I honestly can't tell the difference between tape / no tape. How do you see that ?
(And by the way - I appreciate the quality of this video 👍, you can see the lot of effort you put in 👏 ).
Watching while using the v2 of this. Coming from a Logitech MX Mechanical, I love this so much more.
i was just looking for a nicer keybaord for my ipad. looks like ill have to get one of these now.
this sounds awesome
Mine soon arrives and I can’t wait to modify it like this. Im also new to mechanical keyboards, are the keycaps used here DSA?
hi, i'm building keyboard from this Gateron KS-27 switches. i have a question about hotswap sockets whether do they compatible with MX hotswap sockets or not?
Because orientation of their 2 pins are not parallel ( - and | ) like other MX switches (MX are like - and - ) while sockets are look like do supporting only MX pins. thx in advanced.
Creative idea!
Does anyone know if the stabilizer switches are also low profile? Or can it be replaced with the typical stabilizer switches found in non-low profile keyboards?
Nah, this is unreal~ Soooooo goooood!!!!
What's the size of your leather puncher? I need to get one for myself as well. Thank you!
Love the bgm for today’s video!! I really want to buy this because it’s mix of mech and Logitech keeb especially you can carry it everywhere.
I hope you would make 30 mins video of this keyboard😸💚
