      And ironically his preferred drill (from at latest the early 90s) was the really cheap version with the single speed and no break. Guys would try to do car audio work with me and have these things and sheer off screw slots and stuff. Funny. And yes... vintage!

      I did couples of weeks ago, in fact it was a great moment because not only jamming with such a great guitar player like him is a gift, but we've really had a good time jamming, with a smile on each one's face, I think he's really a kind person, more than the great shred master we all know.

    I totally agree with Gilbert about pick thickness. I'm a shredder (among other things) and have ALWAYS stayed with plain old Fender mediums for the exact reason he said, there is so much more dynamic range that drops off when you go thicker.
    It's totally true what he's saying about Dunlops, they totally don't get tore up when you pick slide with them. I have Purples - I think they're 1mm - on call specifically for the rare occasion I wanna pick slide

    • @CorrosionAudio
      @CorrosionAudio Před 10 lety +3

      I play bass and guitar with .73s (yellow) tortex picks and they sound so much better than the paving slabs people tend to use. For bass, using a thin pick sounds like a cross between picking and slapping because of the pick release twang.

    • @LouisMinett
      @LouisMinett Před 10 lety

      I use fingers on bass for the most part, but when I do use picks on bass I just use 1 mm because those chubby Gibson picks piss me off. As for guitar it depends what I'm playing but for the most part it's 1 mm because I'm mainly a thrash/punk kinda guy.
