  • I had bad U joints in my axles. I will show you how to replace the rear CV Axle on your sportsman! This applies to 335/400/500. 1996 and up.

    just got it bolted down nice and tight ! i jacked the quad up higher and it made a big difference...thank you

      @@TitaniummanGarage how do you get that bolt out that holds the 2 axles togeather..it seems like you can't get anything in there to get on the head of that bolt with the U joint in the way....I have to change my U joints and its freaking me out a little

    I have a 2000 Polaris 500 sportsman that is making a popping noise when first pull out accelerating once you get it up to speed the noise stops it's only on bottom end acceleration we have already replaced both rear Axel's

    Thanks for the great video. I have a 96 sportsman 500 I just replaced the rear axle and the u joint on the left side hits the upper front arm bracket. Have you seen this before?

      @@TitaniummanGarage I was able to get the right side in and out without much trouble at all. Was pretty surprised actually. I paid for it on the left side though. I can't get the bushing on the bearing housing out. Any tips on removal of those if they are stuck in place?

    Any specific brand you recommend for the u joints I have to do all the rear bushings and figured I'd change all the u joints in the rear axles while I have it apart

    I'm doing this now but after getting the bolt loose it wont come out. Any suggestions on how to remove the axle from the transmission?

      I had the same problem. Take the side with the nut off first. Then pull the side with the bolt out. The bolt comes with it.

    I’ve got a 2000 I’m gonna be doing this on it’s just a regular 500 not a HO or anything is it still that pin up in there ? Or is it different ? Thanks

    I have a 1996 Polaris Sportsman 500. Watch all your videos for my Wheeler rebuilds. I replaced my rear cv axles and didn’t notice the old axle alignment to each other. So I put them even with each other and now it wobbles. Does it need to be off set of each other?????? I would greatly appreciate some advice? Thank you in advance!!

      It could very well be your wheel bearings.

    I have both bolts completely loose and absolutely cannot get the shafts out, have you any tips that may help, what a battle

      Should be a nut and bolt between shafts. Unless it's a different year. If so just pull hard on it.

    Do I need to take the bolts out of both sides of gear to remove axle. I took off the left side and can’t get axle out

      I’ve backed out the bolt on the left side I put a wench on both sides and as I turn it keeps turning both bolts. As I turn it should release and spin freely right not both continue to spin.

      It's just a nut and bolt in it. Hold bolt and spin nut. Don't feel bad. Took me a while to figure out too.

    im doing this job right now...theres not much room to get a wrench in there...i keep trying to start the bolt with my fingers but its not working..i was hoping to see how you got the bolt started..any tips would be great...i have a 1996 polaris sportsman 500 4x4.thank you and merry christmas..

      I had the atv up high so axle would drop down farther. I used a box end wrench , put the nut in the wrench to start it. I had to use my fingers too.

    Very helpful . One question when you unbolt the cv shaft will it pull that peace that connects them pull out eather side?

      Sometimes it comes with it sometimes not. If I'm understanding which part you mean.

    NHi good video I have a question for you I have a 2012 spnortsman 400 Polaris I pulled both axles out of ball retainers without removing hubs can I install axles back into transmission without removing hubs or can I install axles through retainer clip with the ball retainer still in tranny housing e you understood what I am getting at I am just replacing boots thanks hope you see this bye for now\

    So I have a 96 and I can’t get rear shaft to come out I have the bolts out as far as they will go (up against the u joint) and will not pull out any suggestions?

      Sometimes they are stuck on so bad. I just had one that wouldn't come apart. try heat..?

    I have one more question..when u put the hub back on did u use a jack to jack it up because of the shock ? Jack it up back in place ?

      You don't have to. But it's a good idea. You won't strip out the screw.

      I’m more like talking about the rear Or back CV axles instead of stock can I use aftermarket ones umm my model is 1999 Polaris worker 335 has the same set rear CV in this video only reason I’m asking cause of that bolt thing in the mid of diff an the two cvs axles would cause a problem

      My left cv axle went bad an it broke in two so I gotta buy it order anew one so I was wounder can I go with out the U-joints but my thought about about that main bolt in the middle of diff an axle ...?.? Please help me
