Hey! @L1zHarris can you link to the signing performers that you really enjoy? I tried looking them up but was unsuccessful…I think I’m spelling names wrong.
It was such a good show! And the actress who played Daphne has a condition that makes it hard to hear sometimes (I forget what the condition is) and she actually speaks/knows ASL!
Have you seen the girl who was deaf on America's got talent ( I think her name was Mandy) she said she learned the tune of the music from the vibrations in the floor through her feet.
My grandpa was deaf (profoundly deaf in one ear and HOH in the other that gradually got worse) He was a musician his whole life! When he was younger, he played the Trombone and Trumpet in school and church bands and even in a college symphony. He taught himself how to play the piano by playing on the old church organ and feeling the vibrations. He also taught me, when I was little, how to play a few songs, particularly Christmas songs and hymns. And on holidays, my grandma and I would sing as my grandpa and I played... Those are some of the best memories I have with them growing up! 😊❤
@@SethRising Are you getting vertigo attacks? I get them around once a month or so, and they last around 2 to 3 minutes along with ear fullness. No tinnitus or hearing loss outside of episodes though, thank god.

Actually downloaded a 2nd ASL app, to compliment the first app, and noticed you were sponsored by them, today, through an add/comercial. Going to dive deeper this year. My first time seeing a preformance like this was actually here on yt. An artist I subscribe to, Artemus Wolz, hired an interpreter/preformer named Michael Scott to interpret and preform one of his songs. As someone who knows basic sign, it was really fun to follow along. Especially with a little more context into the effort that goes into it. Thank you for sharing this!
I am loving these longer form videos! I really like not only learning from you but also seeing you express yourself through your language and sharing thay experience with us! I know as a hearing person I will never truly understand what it is like to be deaf and the impact of sign language but you definitely help me understand it the best I can and helps me be more aware of the deaf community and also how to best communicate with members of it! ❤❤❤
This was really great to listen to you explain how not every person in a particular group is the same. It's amazing that so many people ignorantly believe that they are. I love how educational your videos are!
Liz I had a question. Is it possible for you to sign a song in another language like a K-pop song or a song in another language? That'd be really cool.
Like if it were a song in Spanish, it would be translated for the meaning and then interpreted to ASL. When I’m signing songs, it’s not going to be a direct translation from English to ASL. That’s like directly translating something from Spanish to English. It doesn’t make sense read in English bc Spanish has its own set of rules and grammar.
that makes sense. Basically ASL is a language of it's not own and not a visual interpretation of English. So it'd be possible without translating it into English. Just need to translate the meaning only. Cool!
Hi, a genuine question from an uneducated person over here. If I heard correctly, isn't there a separate version of ASL for any speaking language? Like for english people - english version of ASL, spanish people -spanish ASL and so on? Or maybe there are just some small differences between how it's taught in each country? If that's not the case, it'd make ASL an universal language between all the countries, which would be dope but it seems too good to be true lol
I think your completely getting ASL and sign language mixed up. ASL is one version of sign language. Every country has their own sign language (atleast most of them do). ASL is American sign language. That's the full term of it. Then New Zealand has New Zealand sign language. Britain has BSL( short for British sign language) and so forth. They're all different. Also don't ever be ashamed of asking a question because that's how you learn in the first place. 😊
Tbh I do kinda wish that sign language was one universal language lol. That would be pretty dope atleast in my opinion but yeah your right it's to good to be true.

Thank you for sharing these insights and reasons why it’s important for hearing people learning ASL not to assume that it’s okay to use it for their own interpretations or performance on social media. I took 3 semesters of ASL & interpreter training before I had to change majors because of other issues and was so amazed by so much of what I learned in the Deaf culture classes because it’s just not even on the radar for so much of the hearing world. It was at first confusing to me when my Deaf professor was emphasizing that even if you’re trying to make your performance more accessible by including sign/ASL, it’s still appropriation if you’re not Deaf so it’s better to ensure there’s qualified interpreters to ensure that it’s really accessible. So your sharing is really helpful for better understanding that difference between ASL as a cultural aspect of the Deaf community vs. hearing people using it for their own ideas of what’s accessible, as you share the difference in how often hearing people use sign language without being aware of the differences between English and ASL (or even the less-well known versions like SEE) and the actual structure, syntax, and style differences. Thank you for your reminder that it’s so important to first and always listen to the Deaf community and be conscious of their input when trying to sign, and it’s wonderful to recently discover and see you and other Deaf people advocate for your cultural identity and ASL in these videos when it’s been so unknown, ignored, misunderstood or even persecuted in the mainstream for so long.

I watch my own videos to try and catch errors and to correct them but I really can only do signed English because lack of exposure. Criticism is important ,but in the same way that people criticize deaf performers there seems to be some conflict around hearing people trying to sign and making mistakes. The deaf Deaf community sometimes suggests that everyone should try to learn to sign but at the same time, if you attempt it as a hearing person and make mistakes, sometimes the attitude is unwelcoming, as in " Stop signing. It's clear that you are not deaf. " It seems like some people want to keep the language proprietary and others think everyone should try to learn, but are really intolerant of mistakes and it sometimes feels almost hostile. IDK if I am alone in this but as a result is that I keep my efforts to myself and would not try to sign to a deaf person. Maybe I am being too thin skinned but I keep trying anyway 😊

As someone who is learning ASL, it’s hard to find people I enjoy watching who have the ability to both speak and sign what they are saying at the same time. The first one was Area codes😭✋🏼 That’s all I know💀💀 and I also like literally remember the part from that one yt short when she was like “cash app or Zelle”😭

@@L1zHarris can you drop the names of those deaf musicians I would like check them out. Plus I do sometimes get tried of the same old music especially with the rapper these days
Beethoven gradually became deaf, the only music he composed while completely deaf was his last symphony, the 9th, then he died. But remember he could listen the other 80% of his life, otherwise he would've not been able to compose deaf.
So I’m an actress who works in a youth theatre and on certain show days there will be asl interpreters and it’s so amazing to see the words coming out of my mouth actively being translated into asl because I don’t know asl so it’s cool to see people sign but also know what they are signing. It’s just awesome
Bro, even as a hearing person, I've always thought it would be the coolest job to be a sign language interpreter for a band that's on tour or something like that. The few times I have seen it done, the interpreter lol looks like they are having the time of their lives, some almost dancing out the lyrics entirely. More bands should invest in making their live show more accessible like this.
is the second song 'let me love you' i'm not sure. i love your chanel, i used to know some asl but i have not used it in years, your chanel makes me want to learn it again
the 3rd one, I forgot the name, but, "I just wanna have a good night." Idk if that's what it's called. I'm actually going to be learning ASL this school year so I'm excited for that :D
Hey elizabeth, being a hard or hearing person. I have hearing aids to help me hear. Yes i use technology to aide my disability. I understand you viewpoint on music and communicating. As a rehab assistant it can be difficult but fun. Side note, whoever inventes subtitles was a genius.

I was wondering if you would be able to make a video or reply back about what your thoughts of hearing people going into the field? I’m here to support the deaf culture ❤ but still have a lot to learn! Please help me out ❤
LOVED how you kept it 💯 with the deodorant!
The first one was Area codes😭✋🏼
That’s all I know💀💀 and I also like literally remember the part from that one yt short when she was like “cash app or Zelle”😭
Music is one of the most precious things in life.
I wanna say the first song was scars to your beautiful idk the others but I wanted to say you k1lled it, I may not have understood a lot of what you signed but you did such an amazing job and got into it
Girl you’re absolutely gorgeous
They also said that Beethoven one of the greatest compose was deaf and made many symphonies. Also I saw that you were in a Shien commercial.
What shein commercial? I need to see
I am NOT in a Shein commercial lol but yes! Beethoven was deaf :) I feel like that is overlooked
@@L1zHarris can you drop the names of those deaf musicians I would like check them out. Plus I do sometimes get tried of the same old music especially with the rapper these days
@@roseashkiiii4361 I thought it was her because the model had the same dress she had on in a Instagram post.
Beethoven gradually became deaf, the only music he composed while completely deaf was his last symphony, the 9th, then he died. But remember he could listen the other 80% of his life, otherwise he would've not been able to compose deaf.
I love the Beatles picture in the back!
YOU ARE AMAZING
Greetings from Mexico! 🤟🏾😊
is the second song 'let me love you' i'm not sure. i love your chanel, i used to know some asl but i have not used it in years, your chanel makes me want to learn it again
the 3rd one, I forgot the name, but, "I just wanna have a good night." Idk if that's what it's called.
I'm actually going to be learning ASL this school year so I'm excited for that :D
It's called "Players"!!
@bellabella7268 Ah, thank youu!
As a dead person I love ur videos your probably my favorite CZcamsrs I’m not fully deaf just partially in both ears ❤❤❤
You should do this as a series with more ubiquitous songs that everyone knows (like All Star or Journey and stuff)
QUEEN! 👑
I would have fun guessing but idk ASL :( I want to learn it tho, but whenever I learn anything I forget it, like learning a language is hard for me
I found your channel before i had hearing loss
Hey elizabeth, being a hard or hearing person. I have hearing aids to help me hear. Yes i use technology to aide my disability. I understand you viewpoint on music and communicating. As a rehab assistant it can be difficult but fun. Side note, whoever inventes subtitles was a genius.
The first song is paint the town red❤
I sadly have no idea what songs you were signing to but I was dancing with you! ❤
I am learning sign so this is so helpful
Hey Liz, a really cool idea for shorts would be two or three gestures a day for shorts or a short CZcams Video.
At 10% of your current speed please 😂
The silence is LOUD
