it is better not to rely on motivation, but rather have a daily routine. That way you don't have to ask yourself if you feel like it, but do it automatically. Also, microtasks are better than nothing. I study at least 10 minutes of Swedish a day and it builds up :)

    1. Simplicity
    - start small then grow big
    - make a habit
ex) Read just one news headline in the morning
    2. prompt
    - Tied a new habit with existing habit
    - write your current habit and associating a new small language learning habit with it
    - don't break the chain!
    3. make this habit grow

Personally i do listen to podcasts when i grab a walk from work to home but most of the time i'm distracted by different things on my way so i decided to speed up the audio of podcast to adapt my ears to recognize each word in hight speed play mood .... this is the least thing i can do for time saving , most of the time i can't focus on the general meaning of audio but word by word🤭

    我很喜歡學中文!
I write 1-2 sentences (sometimes more) in my journal everyday to practice writing. (I do this at night) I also highly recommend watching a short video / story in your target language/s. For me in Mandarin, I watch a YT channel called Little Fox Chinese. It’s super helpful to learn new vocabulary as its target audience are for kids. This helps me practice listening and reading (the subtitles in the videos). I usually do this while eating breakfast. For speaking, if I have extra time I would repeat some of the sentences or just the main vocabulary that I have heard while watching the video. So yeah, this is my habit for everyday. This only takes 15-20 minutes everyday. If I have more time (not busy), I would also study new grammar and vocabulary by writing it down and practicing how to use them in real life.

I need to build a consistent habit of listening to native content without English content and I think the weather report will be good to start with because it's short, there's visuals to aid comprehension & similar vocabulary will be used every day.

I am currently learning italian, I am a native portuguese speaker and I use your videos to improve my english skills as well. It's so great and magical to learn a new vocabulary and try to fit it in a phrase, or in my daily routine. It comes in opposite direction of those simply tiktok videos we were used to watch during quarantine where people don't say nothing different and only repeats the same song or phrase... It's like you're putting your mind to work, your brain to make conections, you're looking for a meaning of a word in the middle of your sinapses. Watching videos about something like this is such a more constructive and productive way of doing things, than just spending a few seconds on useless content.

I also like the Tiny Habits book. And strangely enough, I also use my coffee making/drinking as a trigger/prompt for language study. I used to use taking the train to work as my prompt, but after I started working from home, that completely destroyed my language habit (moral of the story: be careful what trigger you pick!). It took a long time (two years!) to figure out to link it to coffee instead, so in those two years I didn't make much progress. 你的视频好酷啊。我学得很慢,但这些视频鼓励我继续前进。我也想学阿拉伯语,但因为我是美国人这个语言真的很难,所以我对开始学习感到紧张。You are quite inspiring!

So inspiring! I was already doing that without knowing it 😀 I always watch the Dutch news during breakfast because I get up before the kids so I have max. 10min for myself. And if it's only 5min never mind, I'll do it no matter what. But you inspired me to find an habit for English for example for which I always say "I don't have time to progress in English" 🤣
Here's a tip for those with children: buy children books in the targeted language for your kids so you'll read it together and learn new words together!
    Much love Zoé! 🥰
