Oh I was brought up with that saying . I’m Scottish but my grandfather was born in Canada, Black Dimond, Calgary. We have amazing photos with Mounties standing with Argentine gaucho, who had come with my family because they had settled in Argentina after leaving The Falkland Island’s, way back.we have photos of the family in Troikas in the Canadian snow. There upsetting photos of a big group of men in WW1 uniforms with a message on the back saying Charlie and friends, you can’t help to wonder who made it home. There’s many more I must let Black Dimond have copies of these pic’s.

I’m a Canadian Ex-Pat. The Scots are a wonderfully warm and welcoming, proud bunch of folks, second to none. I’ve worked in a lot of countries in the world, but Scotland is one spot where I could live permanently without any reservation. It’s a beautiful country, with welcoming friendly folks. Some of the best times I’ve had here is backpacking in the Highlands or fly fishing on the many rivers. For any history buff or history nerd, it’s an amazing place. The fact that I’m not Scottish at all but do play the pipes makes it way easier to make friends here.

I am Scottish and hold a British passport, however a bone of contention with me is that nowhere is my nationality acknowledged. It would be so easy to have the four individual nationalities recognised ie, Scot/Brit, Welsh/Brit, NI/ Brit and Eng/Brit. Thankyou again for another great video. My mums best friend was Scottish, she was possibly the friendliest, and funniest person I’ve ever met. My favourite story I heard about her. Was the day she went into Labour with her daughter. They gave her gas and air to manage the pain, but she took a bit too much, and got high on it. She then started dancing down the corridor, after the midwives and nurses had managed to pin her down, she gave birth to a healthy girl, but when shown her daughter, she said “Oh what a lovely baby whose is it?” She had no memory of giving birth at all 😂🤣

Great reaction of OOR Shaun 😊

My university experience is nearly 40 years ago (St Andrews) and I agree with most of what he says I agree with. But it also applies very much to central Scotland rather than the whole country. The Isles, the Highlands and the southern part of the country in the Borders aren't all like that, there are parts which are right but I wouldn't apply it all to the whole of Scotland. There are parts of the country where people are a lot quieter.

I was told how welcoming and lovely everyone in Scotland was recently, a tourist was trying to get somewhere which was a little difficult to explain, I said “I have ten minutes to spare, I’ll just take you” , I didn’t really think about it but it seems it’s not like that everywhere in the world.

Reminds me of when to English guys pulled up in their car one night and asked me and my mate directions to a pub in centre of the town and we said "we're actually going there ,gives us a lift/ride and we'll take you there" ....they were very apprehensive but agreed, they were nervous as hell, they thought they were gonna get robbed lol

I don't get the " recovering " alcoholic saying. If you haven't had an alcoholic drink for 17 years then surely you've " recovered " already ?

    • @kumasenlac5504

Many prefer to use the term 'recovering' to acknowledge that we still have the cravings and to recognise how close we may still be to a relapse.

I'm loving your videos! I'm from Dundee in the East of Scotland, and would agree that we're a very friendly welcoming nation, and love receiving tourists and likewise love travelling and meeting different cultures. Scottish people are often very approachable and friendly and don't take themselves too seriously and like to have a laugh. I feel like it is very much a personal choice when referring to our nationality. I personally consider myself both Scottish & British because I also spend a lot of time in England and have family and friends there, and being a city girl I prefer the larger cities in England like London and Manchester and spend alof of time there so I feel very connected to both regions. But I also know a lot of people on the opposite end of the scale who would only consider themselves Scottish. But because people may have families and connections in both countries, and have lived or spend a lot of time in different areas of the UK, they might consider themselves Brittish. I'm proud to be Scottish but I'm also proud to be Brittish as its a melting pot of all the 4 nations, the histories, the cuisines, the many different accents and dialects, and each part of the UK is beautiful and has great cities and lanscapes to visit.

I'm proud to be Scottish. I'm only British by association. I have myself been called scotch,in the states and Australia. But ,a little friendly reminder, of correction is fine. But, I'm nowhere near being superstitious. In saying that, there some fantastic mystery and ghost tours in Edinburgh, especially the night time tours. Another great video, Debbie and Natasha.

Hi guys, happy Easter, great video as always. Glad you liked the Welsh bible and the picture of Mow Cop castle. You did pronounce my name right, you were spot on. Mow Cop castle (which you also pronounced right) isn't actually in Wales it's in England, it's more or less on the border between Staffordshire (where I live) and Cheshire. My fault, I should have clarified that in the letter. Have a great day.
