Heads up for the power nodes part, if you are using a different texture (particularly one that doesn't have as clean white values in the R channel), then that may cause issues when changing the exponential to 10 and generally won't work well as a mask, so i'd recommend either changing it to one that has more clear white values (as white values are not darkened as much) or go with the one he did
