- The CHEAPEST Alcohol markers VS the 'Most expensive'. Who wins?
-
I must say, this video caught me off guard, I did NOT expect the price difference when I began recording, nor did I expect the HUGE turn around midway into the video.
If you stayed beyond the half way point, were you surprised too?
It's so good to be back I hope everyone enjoyed their holidays and are ready to enjoy new content as we enter 2023. I can't wait to bring you even more.
Until next time... BYE - Zábava

I've been having so much fun over there and getting to create multi genre content is a passion, I hope you'll have fun :)
Do you have a art related Twitch session scheduled today?
i totally agree ... I totally agree that the twin have a too thick tip and 2 hard, if you have a little practice you can make art yourself with these sh*t markers hahaha
Top 3: 1# Copic Ciao 2# Winsor Newton promarkers 3# Ohuhu ♥
@@ChrisRiArt I would love to try the Ohuhu brush markers.
Hi I'm an artist who wishes to buy markers but I can't afford please do a giveaway
I say neither. If I had to choose on threat of death, I guess the cheap ones. Though I'd recommend spending just a touch more and going with Ohuhu. The colors for the cheap are really pretty, and you make it work like always.
If buying them myself was factored into this decision, then yeah, the cheap ones. I just left a rant comment about how overrated Copic is. And I totally agree, I much prefer Ohuhu, despite the few things Copic actually manages to outshine them on.
I like Ohuhu too but i prefer bianyo then Ohuhu Bianyo is also affordable as well
Sadly I think either he got a very bad batch or I was very lucky with mine. I got a smaller set gifted to me, they were all juicy, they all layered well, no empties, and they lasted longer than many of my other sets of markers.
But 15 duds is taking the mick 🤯
I have a feeling after this video he may get a free replacement and gift haha
No hate please but I don’t think EITHER marker brand is worth it; the Twin markers had too many that didn’t work and Copic is WAY too expensive when you can get Ohuhus for way cheaper and (in many people’s opinion) are about as good or even just as good as Copic…
Nah you are right...
I just have to make a choice over the two, but i would refuse both if offered lol
@@ADCArtAttack maybe try wellokb markers next? They are cheap Amazon alcohol markers, I would love to see them on one of these videos. Admittedly I have some, so that may be part of why, but still...also I love your videos, they're very helpful in terms of finding the most worth it markers for the price.
You can't beat Promarkers. It's just they don't have the brush tip, even though they do brush tip versions but everyone always forgets that when the conversation is had
@R I have brushpens in my promarkers... I mean I never knew they didn't had brushnips.
True, there are also a lot of other cheap alternative brands if you want to buy some for like a 12-year-old little sister. I recommend Shuttle Art. I got it for my little sister before I bought her Ohuhu a year later for her 15th birthday. Since she doesn't use it anymore I'm currently using the Shuttles Art for a color book I got for Christmas. I'm a color pencil artist so I don't know how to blend markers (which doesn't work the same as pencils) but the base colors are good.
Respect to you for not just scrapping the video. 😂 I would’ve thrown everything away and rage quit whenever the markers didn’t work 😅
That moment where I censored myself swearing, I was on the Third marker in a row that didn't work and thought I'd have to scrap the entire video I had just recorded haha.
I was super angry lol
@@ADCArtAttack haha I support it.
Make an upload where it’s just you destroying the markers 👀😂
Lol I was literally thinking this. I've was about to say he must feel mad about wasting time on a video and probably shouldn't have put this out, but then felt that would be seen as rude and an attack on adc for putting out an inferior video, when I was aiming my comment more at the markers.
I dunno I feel the time and effort he put into making this video could've been used on a better (or more interesting ) product.
If you’re willing to experiment, you can remove the broad nib and add some isopropyl alcohol into the chamber of the twin marker. The ink itself is dried which is expected due to how they were stored.
I truly enjoy your marker art videos and your style never ceases to amaze me. You inspire me to want to pick up my poor forgotten Copics and art supplies that I haven't used in a very long time!
The twins were probably marked down because they were old stock, find a fresh set and they will make a damn good practice set. I was surprised how much more vibrant their colors were and aside from being wetter they blended well.
Your art never cease to inspire me. Amazing skills and also very entertaining video😁 well done my guy💯😎💪🏼
II would recommend it to everyone to start with the cheap ones afterwards you can still buy the expensive ones :) the twin markers are worth it Great Video i was waiting for this VS ^^
They're worth it, if, you like pain haha ;)
@@ADCArtAttack No pain no gain hehehe :P
Hmm. But if they're not enjoyable to use, won't you lose people along the way (when they quit out of frustration)? That might have stuck with it and flourished, if the pens had been fun to use?
I'd say neither. Get a different brand entirely. One that's fun to use AND look good on the paper
@@shadowheartart3898 thats true, but if you mastered this Brand you can almoast use every other alcohol marker hahaha
@@ChrisRiArt Possibly. Different pens=different technique, no?
More to the point though: why would you want to spend the time mastering these, if you already know you'll switch to something else later?
Now if people like using the officeline, then I'm all for it. My intention is not to bash them because they're cheap.
There are tons of examples, however, of people buying cheap materials - only to hate working with them. They then toss them out or give them to a kid they know or something, and go buy new materials.
That costs more money and wastes more material, than if you get something decent to start with
you literally my favorite artist on youtube. and when I'm having a bad day, I just watch your videos to brighten my day. Im also a young artist myself and you inspire me so much
Even though the office line were dreadful you still made an awesome work of art. That is just proof of your talent! Great video as always.
You're my favorite, because you always do artwork, even if you're unboxing, or reviewing products. Happy new year 🎉 ✨
I have to say that the left side looks considerably more appealing to me. I understand you struggled with using them but the vibrancy clearly looked better. And that has nothing to do with the price, if you throw that in it's the clear winner.
You always do such good work.
My boy Luigi! I’m the youngest so I was always relegated to 2 player, felt a kinship with him. 😂
Those cheap markers are not worth the suffering for art that’s for sure!
I admit, I use copics and I haven’t had issues with colour separation but it really does depend on paper (no not that copic marker paper, that’s over priced).
For people who want to get into markers…. Skip both, get Ohuhu 😅
I remember when I used to watch you in 2020 when I was ten now I’m turning 13 tomorrow and reminiscing on how much I liked drawing I even drew one of my favorite anime characters to. Thank for all you did for me as a child even though I’m still young
I love these budget marker videos 👍🏽🔥🔥
I’ve been waiting for this video for so long 😭 glad it’s finally out!!!
Awesome. Have Seen those markers in a local Dollar store here in west germany and always thought about your Cheap vs. Expencive Serien. So happy to see them today
Generally when they're dry like that, it's the alcohol in the solution that's dried. There is still plenty of pigment. I utilize two options: I have a tin of denatured alcohol and syringe to refresh the marker (get the pigment flowing again). I also have a bottle of generic alcohol marker clear blending refill which can be used to similar effect.
When the markers are so unenjoyable that you put *Copics* as the winner
HAHAHA right!!!!
Hi Adc, I have been subscribe your channel almost 3 years and I really love what you doing in your channel, keep it up the good work and stay healthy adc. You are my number one top artists that I really love to meet.Take care Adc.
Hi! I was expecting this comparison! I bought the officeline just because how cheap they were and it happened the same to me: 24!! Were dry. But I went to the store and they apologized very surprised, got me another pack and this one work well. I don't think they are terrible (I have spectrum noir, ohuhu and some copics too), they blend well and are juicy. Maybe too much, because I see my paper for markers bend a little, and the patches of colour more like water based markers, but they blend well and have quite a good range of colours (even though some are too similar). For start using alcohol markers or in small surfaces (I mostly paint mandalas with them in order to don't waste my good markers) I recommend them, because how cheap they are and the variety of colours.
Gotta say... I'm impressed by the picture you did with the cheap, bad markers...
It still looks really, really good. Which, given the poor quality markers, is entirely attributable to your skills.
Good to see you back.. Love your videos!
Happy New Year=) I hope it brings us something good=) Love your videos=3 You always make any material look nice =)
Great vid! Loved it. I think the cheap markers are better bc for me, the results are what I enjoy and look for the most when I draw so I’m going with the office line. ❤
Wow. Never thought of water-based markers as virgin markers, like the non-alcoholic version of a cocktail, but that's what I'm calling them now.
I've been waiting for you to do a video on garbage markers. Not disappointed. Awesome video as always. I look forward to you new stuff. Thanks.
As an artist who uses a variety of markers including copic, you have mention things like light-fastness and how paper effects things.
I originally thought Officeline would have the advantage, but as soon as the problems kicked in, I changed sides to Copic.
True that Copic Ciao has color separation but they do have better quality, better colors, better blends, and better results.
And I hope that ADCArtAttack did destroy those horrible things they call Alcohol Markers
I’ve had dried out markers happen with yeakoo alcohol markers, I just spray the nib with rubbing alcohol or dip it in alcohol.
The nib fabric soaks up the alcohol and brings more pigment from the inside to the outside.
I never had problems with doing that to rehydrate alcohol markers.
Hi adc I'm thinking of buying the regular ohuhu markers but I want to hear your opinion should I buy the old brush tip markers or the new bullet tip markers. Which one in your opinion is better.
Your videos are so fun to watch. I got my first set of Ohuhu Markers and absolutely love them for coloring. Any suggestions for how to transfer images from a coloring book to a piece of marker paper without a light pad and killing your shoulders from using a window?
I got these pens for Christmas and I was really hoping that you would make a video on them. However, the ones I got were brush and bullet, and the colours were so.much better than you experienced in this video.
Thank you for making all these great videos you are such an inspiration
Great video! I will say this about Copic, if you don't have the right paper, and I don't mean Copic paper because some reason their paper actually doesn't work well with their makers, they look like crap at the finish line. Combine that and their pricing and I totally understand why some people prefer other markers. You getting 15 dead markers in the cheapy pack is ridiculous though, that to me sounds like the store had them forever and couldn't sell them until they went on sale, guessing clearance, and the ink dried up in them while they say on the shelf.
Ooh don't mention copic and using the right paper to adc. There was a whole comment war and multiple videos made about this topic and they still came out inferior to cheaper markers. (I was on the wrong side of said war)
@@cnsmooth I'm speaking as someone who found the right paper. But the fact that you have to search, search, try, try, with such an expensive and usually highly recommended alcohol marker is BS. For their price they should work with a wider range of paper. With more affordable markers with just as wide range of colors, that do work with multiple kinds of paper, and now that some of the cheaper brands are starting to offer refillable options..... Copic is going to have to do something to stay in this race lol. I wasn't coming at him for it, if anything I was siding with him lol
@BoneYardGrim just watch his videos on it please
Edit not that I don't agree with all you have said
I wish you’d try Blick Studio alcohol markers (*not* the Illustrator markers which are horrible.) I’ve heard the Studio markers are just as good as Copic, with refillable ink and brush replacements which are the foam rubber, not fiber like Ohuhu. I’m sure shipping for you will be expensive though. Still, I’d love to see you do a head to head with Copic.
I mostly do pencil drawings but when I do use marker I use the arteza ever blend alcohol markers and they work pretty well honestly
The most savage takedown of a Secret Santa since that episode of The Office.
It’s been awhile since buying markers, but I still have the last of the original Trias. That’s my personal favorite.
Bro, thanks for calling out the Copics on their number 1 issue. I have a blue, and I forget what it is, but I love it. It suffers from color separation so bad, and I didn't know what that was, like, when you mentioned it, and I saw it happening, I understood, like you opened my eyes. Thank you. Now I have a word to combat my frustrations with.
Ur art is amazing and I really would like for tutorials on CZcams I wish your art skills could be like yours one day
Too you are back !!
Bob!!! 😍😍
Wonderful job as always. Very entertaining video.
Ahem... where's Peach? teehee! Love the video, fun as always!...can also vouch for the gamer rage. haha You made me jump out of my skin the other day when you shouted! There I was, quietly watching whilst chating away on the Discord and I get rage in my ears but it made me laugh so hard! haha
Hi Anthony,
I see as a case of the right tool for the right job. Copic works better with certain papers like Bristol board etc yes there is definitely an argument to say they are the more expensive marker and should always outperform cheaper ones but that's like saying a formula 1 car should always outperform regular cars. On a race track an F1 car would hands down but put it on a pothole-riddled narrow road with speed bumps and I bet a VW Golf would beat it.
So I would say to users new to markers use a cheaper marker to learn, practise and do your day-to-day sketches with and if you are doing a display piece or selling an art piece using the best materials you can afford and by best I don't mean blindly pick the most expensive as certain mediums and materials work better together than others. For example if you are layering pencils on top of markers you may need a paper with more tooth for the pencil. If you want to do a watercolour background for the effect or to save your maker ink you will need paper that can handle the water without getting damaged.
I dont know what you think about this as you are more experienced with markers than myself. I primarily do colour pencil and graphite art I have only just started doing marker art but I know paper can make a huge difference from my playing around so far.
I get what your saying but for me the price point doesn’t match up, in a lot of way your right but then for any non professional artist it mean that you need to buy the most expensive set possible and buy a practice second set as well, where w&n, ohuhu etc you don’t need to and can still get the grade A results you desire. on the other hand for professionals as long as the markers have the colour fast rating it really doesn’t matter what they use and it only comes down to a user preference choice because they make it look amazing regardless what brand they use ie our man ADC
@Adam Callaway
Yeah, I agree the price point doesn't make sense for me or most. You also mentioned a good point light-fast Copic markers are not light-fast and fade within weeks/months of direct sunlight as far as I am aware no alcohol markers on the market have a light-fast rating so for me they are well overpriced in my opinion. The point I was making before is why buy £300 markers then cheap out on the paper doesn't make sense.
Again I'm a pencil person but the light fast colour pencils I use are about £250 for 100 to 120 pencil set (caran d'ache luminance, polychromos) and I have cheaper pencils I use in my sketchbook (prisma, derwent) so I don't waste my good ones on concepts or rough sketches. It just makes sense to me but maybe it is not for everyone 🤔.
I have used Copic, Ohuhu and Shuttle, I have to say Ohuhu still wins out in my opinion and I don't think i'm going to try Twin Markers anytime soon after this video lol
Shuttle is good for what it is, Copic is still just too expensive and I find Ohuhu to be of higher quality. At this point I only keep my Copics because i'm not trashing such expensive markers, and there are colors I have with them that I don't have with Ohuhu. I'm just glad I can use all three brands on the same piece and it's not noticeable.
Copic is better for the long run when it comes to storing. But I love ohuhu too and brought those for my nephew who's really getting into drawing.
Its amusing how the marker brand that looks similar to that twin marker casing is better like those were the first marker set i bought because you reviewed it and honestly don’t regret it I made one of my favorite art pieces with those markers
I really loved this video. I have 12 Copic Sketch markers. Brush/Chisel nip. One, I HATE chisel too!! Two, I noticed some color separation as well and I thought, maybe, it was my markers. It was only slight but definitely noticeable. COMPLETELY agree with you though, the point is for our art/craft/coloring to be enjoyable. Lastly, have you heard of the OLO markers? Those things are crazy expensive! I am curious to find out if they are MORE expensive than copic.
The first time ADC ever said "These Markers Slap" XD
(The Slap Quote Is Never Gonna Stop lol)
I have maybe 2/3 of the sketch pens, a bunch of copic multiliners (the metal ones are more expensive than the sketch markers), and odd wide and regular copics. I am poor AF. I bought aa few at a time over several years, it can be done.
Some colors separate more than others. Layer more colors to fix that. You need many colors to pull that off.
you have amazing skills ADc
I have two sets of ohuhus pastel and regular and kingart brush pens and zebra fineliners and they are amazing
Should try doing a hybrid....use Copic for base layer and cheap for the rest and see if they are compatible and work together. Would be interesting to see
Love your videos, hope you are well!
Oh man... The markers not working is giving me flashbacks!
I bought my first markers about when I was 15. Back then, the only markers available were copics, or cheap knockoffs offs on eBay so guess which the skint teenager got? I think two of them had any ink in them! Took me 20 years to give markers another go - in part because of your videos showing they weren't all God awful!
Not a gamer myself, but I’ll send my kids your way! They love watching your videos!!! And BOB!
It is a shame that the expensive set of markers did have color serpentine but applied the colors more evenly...so based on this demonstration of the 2 marker sets I agree with ur decision...hoping u have better luck with the next demonstration of cheap vs expensive marker sets considering the failed beginning of 15 markers of 1 set wouldn't work!! Keep the videos, opinions & tips coming!! Til next tyme...keep those cre8ive juices abrewing!!!
no haters pls..
My daughter got one of those officeline markers on christmas as a present to her. I was curious so I tested today after watching your video and they were all working fine. Each marker has ink (good) but blending was 👎. Maybe its the paper. But it's good for kids like mine to start.
for me... i am inlove with ohuhu markers!! ohuhu 4evah!!
Love your art
So good to see the first video of the year. :-) I can't promise that I will always stay up to the day that you post a new video but I promise I will eventually catch up as the year goes on. but for today it is nice to be on track. I have to admit I like the look of the left side more than the right side which is the cheaper brand how sad that they make all of those colors and 15 of them don't work. Obviously they taught themselves as a bargain brand because they put themselves on sale but to buy something that doesn't work is that really a sale? Copics even the cheap version will always be out of my price range. but perhaps someday I might be able to splurge for some of ohuhu. I hope I spelled that right. I'm always amazed at how you can find a way to blend everything in a way that makes it look good . thanks for sharing your talent with the rest of us . I wish you well on your gaming channel. Blessings.
I hope I'm not the only one asking but How did you learn to draw this good its pure amazing
Maybe a stupid question but could you add a few of drops of alcohol to the dried markers & rehydrate them?
How does a light pad imp4ove your line work im just curious
I love coloring/blending but am not great and sketching. If you released a coloring book i would buy it in a heartbeat
If you were to choose a budget marker that works the best for its price, what would it be? As fun as these cheap vs expensive matches are it would be interesting to see your 9verall top picks.
You should try Stylefile. The stylefile ones also have brush nibs and they have refills. They have the price range like ohuhus. In my opinion they feel like a mixture between copics and ohuhus
there's a very good water based maker in Brazil, i believe it's not too hard to find, it's bic intensity, they come in lots of shapes and nibs, i would love to see your opinion on them
wow, very good 😍👍👏
Copic has the best design and brush, but I've noticed issues with the ink as well. The perfect marker would be a Copic brush, Winsor & Newton ink, and Ohuhu price.
Very curious what paper you're using as it can have a huge impact on how the markers dry. I have never had issues like this with my Copics but I use Copic paper. I'd love to see you do a comparison of the same tool on different papers some time
That's another negative about Copic for a hobbyist. They are so expensive and they need to be used on special paper to work well. My opinion is that is why they are marked Professional, not an amateur. When you are selling artwork you need to create it on high quaint paper for it to display for a long time. So you already have to buy high-end paper. Well for hobbyists, it doesn't matter. So a market that can work on more types of paper is usually a better investment.
Please review 5 belows set of markers. They have 2 sets of 24 markers. Each pk is 5$ and they are actually really good. 💜
CRAZY how he did a Luigi draw right after a bowser piece. Tiktok fire is being fueled again
In my case , I personally working with both Copic and Touchnew Markers on my works
I like Copic for its blendability and quality
But i like Touchnew for budget issue and i can get many colours in just one pack although for blendability issue i should rank it 6/10
I'm gonna be real honest, it would be nice to get a light pad, but I did have one in the past for tracing, but I decided to not use it and start drawing and find ways to clean my artwork with fineliners and digital art.
wondering what type of paper you used. I've noticed with copics different papers don't do well. feel like it may be by design so you have to spend for the specific papers that go well with copics which also are not usually cheap.... copic=crooks... but I love them lol. the first markers I ever used were touch/twin markers. they were trash. also had several that didn't work in my batch. colors were not vibrant. I made due with them and slowly started building up my copic collection. it's been a long process over a few years but I have 205 copics at this point. I don't have refills for all of them quite yet but most. is the nice thing that they are refillable and everything basically except lids and barrels are replaceable. over the years i've noticed that another downfall of copics is the lids like to crack and they don't sell replacement lids. I tape mine up and have learned not to store them where U.V. lights or heat can cause the lids to do so. seems like as much as you pay for them they'd make the cases and lids out of something a bit more durable... (my copics are the sketch series, I cannot speak for how the ciao lids hold up. they kinda look more durable.)
The twin markers do work 😅 you just have to push the tip down for the ink to come 😅🎉
Can I ask what this song is? Is it available through the CZcams audio library?
Yeah, I’d rather spend the extra money on the copic but if you can’t afford that I like using what I can afford bic permanent markers. They’re nice marker. They put down the color pretty good. I enjoy using them. They are fair and decent and they’re not gonna dry out right away as soon as you buy them like these other cheap markers in the video. No thank you I will stay with bic The thing is there’s different sizes they’re not double ended like other markers but they still pretty good for cheap marker. My opinion if you haven’t tried it already. ADC art attack if you can get a hold of those type of markers, that could be the next challenge
What pencil are you using?? I need it!
Love your channel 💖
In this case I definitely would say Copic wins for me if its no fun to use there's no point because I'll probably drop out of a piece early. Of course I prefer ohhuhu the most because it's a great balance of performance and cost.
Last month I actually purchased my first set of alcohol markers... and I'm starting to think those are actually water-'color too, cuz I encountered the same prob with them as you in this video. One marker is dry & empty, they make the paper all wet and yeah, same shell, the brand is obscure and it says "Twin Art" on each marker, hehe...
The video is great as always btw XD
Cool
i came across not one but two sets of ciao B for 25 dollars CAD each set.
found them on a prime day Binz store. the place where someone buys pallets of amazon returns and then sells the items in a store.
i could not believe they were still sitting on a rack near the front cash. my sons girlfriend is trying to get into an art school so i gave her a set.
she always wanted some but the price kept her from getting any.
i have not used my set yet as i am happy with the ohuhu sets that i own. might keep em, might sell em.
Personally I feel Copic are overrated. Yes they may blend well but the ones I got dried out super fast.
Also thank you and shout out to @ADCArtAttack for showing me how to blend markers 😎
good work friend
The biggest issue with Copic is definitely the price. They’re 400 yen in Japan (less than $4) but most stores Jack them up to over double so definitely don’t buy from Amazon or big stores like Michael’s unless you buy a big set with a decent coupon. For US residents you can go to Blick’s and Jerry’s Art a Rama for $5.85 each I think. Although I definitely don’t recommend them to any beginners either way since a cheaper alternative will get you most of the way there and you don’t really benefit from Copics unless you have a more painterly style and/or have a deeper understanding of color and actually need the larger selection of colors (specifically the dull and muted colors). I think they’re more transparent than other brands so they’re really good with layering and stuff (act more like watercolor) but they’ll also show the texture of the paper a lot compared to Windsor and other brands. If you want a more matte/even finish definitely go for something like Windsor and newton or have them to fill larger areas at least which is what I used to do but either way I’d never recommend Copics to beginners even though they’re my favorite and depending on what kind of stuff you do the cheaper ones are more than enough most of the time.
I got some new markers for Christmas and some felt pens my markers are called duel tip markers a brush nib at one end and a fine liner nib at the other plus it tells you on the markers them self’s which end is which and they are really good I think you can find them on Amazon and you could do a cheap vs expensive video with them
I think the artist can make any marker look good.
Luigi is adorable 💚
Hahaha! I knew copic would win this one. I'm wondering how you'd like the cheap £7 alcohol markers from The Works in the UK. The only bummer is they seem to only have one set of 24 (23 really as one is a colourless blender).
I'm tempted to get myself a set and would love to send one your way to see what you think
adc there is another brand of twinmarkers from DecoTime I used them and there pretty good for cell shading
I love how mad he got with the cheap markers
I like the one on the left 😀✌️
That's suffering, I mean fifteen duds? Thank you for doing cheap vs expensive even though there are obvious losers at times. Previously I held off on coloring my art because the belief quality supplies meant ridiculously expensive. However, then my uncle introduced me to your videos.
There is a small light pad at five below for $5. I just grabbed one.
Okay I have to be honest, I came for Luigi. But the marker stuff was interesting too :))
Finally a new video
