I'll never get tired of Poseidon being animated as a big guy made of water that can change and control it as he desire, it really shows how he's only playing with Odysseus and he could have killed them so easily, he's alive because of luck basically.
The only reason Odysseus survived that encounter was because Poseidon is a sadist and wanted to see him squirm under the deaths his decisions had caused.
I just love the sense of scale here. Poseidon is just so…big. It really gets across the terror of having the vast ocean itself personally offended by your continued breathing.
Poseidons Voice was just so powerful I really had to try hard to match it 😁
That part were he summons his trident from the water was dope

Which is why I don’t think it mattered if odysseus killed the cyclops or not.

@@coconuttydragoon3445 keep in mind that Odysseus was already on Poseidons shit list cus he didn’t get the proper tribute because the Trojan horse was made from ships if I remember right so odds are good he was already keeping an eye on him.

I really like how you did Polyphemus in this he looks more human than monster unlike most depictions of him
I tried to find a good middle ground. In my other animatic you can see him more😁
This is quite well made. I especially liked the rain effect. I also liked how you had Poseidon make his son's image from water and how he tenderly strokes his head and holds him yet agressivly has it vanish when reminded that Ody let him live in pain and humiliation.

I love how Poseidon morphed the water to become his Trident as that's how I've always imagined how he calls it forward, more a part of his being and primordial elemental power and less a weapon made of metal
The way that trident grows in his hand at 0:53 gives me chills every time
I love this, kinda like an anime adaptation of Epic.
Poseidon's design is REALLY cool, as is the constant merging with his element and the shapeshifting and how fluid he is, how he veers straight into uncanny valley a lot of the time. Picking up the boat like it's a toy, constantly forcing Odysseus to face Polyphemus' mutilated visage and the "are you stupid?" face after the fakeout apology are definitely highlights. As is the use of the Nereids as the chorus at the start, haven't seen anyone do that!

You have a very strong interpretation of Posidon's anger and callousness. And I strongly like the final shot of him melting into the water
I feel this would also happen when a king’s kind son is stood up at the altar by his princess fiancé who runs away with a bad boy😂 No matter what a king is a father first.

Yep, definitely.
This is INCREDIBLE. Yah, in all caps! Poseidon being so smirk, shoving Odysseus around like a toy. He being huge, then people size, then becoming a literal whirlpool(which i think is a nod to Charbidis)! Him also picking up the boat! The images of Penelope, Telemachus, Polyphemus, and the blood on Odys hands with Polites headband. Aghhhh, i cant even list them all! This work is phenomenal; YOU are phenomenal!! I shall now subscribe to help spread the word. I hope you are really proud of yourself.

Poseidon treating the ocean (and the crew) like he's a kid in a bathtub playing with toys is such an excellent comparison to how frail humans are in the face of these deities.
I really LOVE your style, it reminds me of something out of a manga and i can see love went into this, also POSEIDON MAKING HIS SON OUT OF WATER IS GENIUS and i love how much he can morph his body. Great work and keep it up ^^

Can we talk aboit how Posideon put his hand over his eye, so villainous and cool, Posideon has did alot of stuff, raping Medusa, having multiple affairs, but hes a father and god, and has the authority to avenge his son, life can be worse than death
Really love how you portrayed Poseidon! Like, the way he was big and just Lifted the ship in his hand and set it down again in the water.
Also the way he’d change sizes, and how at the end he kinda liquified back into water.
All just emphasizes that he’s Not Human, but a God.
(Also liked that beginning bit where he had nereids sort of there watching him pass judgement on Odysseus. Very nice touch!)

THIS IS FUCKING AMAZING OMG I LOVE IT SO MUCH
Ok ok at the beginning, when he's just sooooo much bigger than them... Omg I LOVE that... Like the sheer power he exutes... Omg the frame with his son? Amazing. The way he's just totally done during the naïvety line? But also the way you zoom in by like blinking with Ody's eyes is SOOO good! I also love how he keeps growing and then he's human sized again and the water vortex where only his eyes and smile appears? So good! His hair like water is so cool.
I love how dramatic he is and the frame during "guess the pack of wolves is swimming with the shark now" I LOVE his facial expression and pose there!
And the way he looks like a monster during the monster line is just great. Absolutely fantastic animatic!!!! 👏👏

Just how creepy and awesome Poseidon looks when he asks “Any last words?”
The Bag!! Love how it literally blows Poseidon away lol. And the sense of speed and movement as they’re sent away from the threat!
He melts into the water!!

i love the way you convey poseidon's overwhelming power visually. at first with how easily he picks up their entire ship, and then in that moment immediately after "die," when you pull back to that wide shot with massive, towering waves about to crash in. i've seen a lot of amazing detail work on the ships and the men in that moment, but your rendition here captures the sheer scale of the attack in a fantastic way. just what i've been looking for!

You guys should know Gods/immortals really feared pain, they laothed it, being in pain was one of the harshest punishments a god or immortal could receive, and Odysseus literally left the cyclops in pain and humiliated him by calling it mercy, he even rubs it in by leaving his name and address as if to scorn him for not being able to do anything to him. To make it worse, Odysseus' crew has been slighting poseidon from the very beginning by not paying tribute to him while in his domain!!, and he even used poseidon's own animal the horse, as trap for the trojans who actually worshiped poseidon, while his own kingdom worshiped Athena instead of him, while his kingdom was literally on the coast. His usage of the horse made it seem like he was mocking the trojans for worshipping poseidon, because it is their belief in poseidon that made them fall for this trap. To even further elaborate on Odysseus' arrogance, he dropped that infant and was going on about how he was just a man, but when he blinds and humilates polythemus, he says he is neither man nor mythical. He places himself in a position where he is righteous and is above polythemus. Quite frankly he would still have died if he had apologized to poseidon, but maybe he could have saved the lives of his men, because the gods have to keep their word even if it is just to a certain extent, otherwise mortals lose trust in their word, which won't be good because it means they lose worshippers, hence getting less tribute. Odysseus saw himself as an eqaul to the gods, i think he got to close to athena and because of athena literally spoiling him, his arrogance just grew and he even forgot his place that's why he talked back to athena and actually defied her orders!!!!
Okay, I really like the 'clothing as water' design here, especially in combination with the hair. It's a really solid design. I also like the Polyphemus design, if it didn't match the one shown before in the story that'd be fine, because we could easily read this as how Poseidon sees his son, or (more ruthlessly) Poseidon deliberately making the figure more human to stab harder emotionally with the point being made. He's not going to kill Odysseus here, he has to consider his fellow God's views on the matter. But no one said anything about not torturing him, which is pretty much the entire sequence up until the 'apology' that isn't. It was also all personal until then and the expression you rendered for Poseidon in response really works.

Animation quality is not the greatest. But the ideas here of Posidon's size, the choir at the start, the weird way posidon moves and his strange form. These ideas are all great. Keep up the progress

Not really, poseidon ONLY goes after odysseus for blinding polyphemus and not against any other heroes. Poseidon isn’t like ares who has myths of cursing entire nations or apollo who’s sheer…existence is a nightmare for greece after troy lmao poseidon isn’t kind but he definitely is MUCH easier to get along with than the rest of the olympians. All poseidon in the actual myths required from odysseus is a trubute to honor poseidon for good weather and safe travels and for obvious reasons not to brutally maim his son, odysseus is definitely to blame for not just killing polyphemus, but for more importantly than anythijg showing the arrogance to taunt a son of poseidon

True. As we know from the legends the gods usually loved to show their power when they re pissed of wanna have some fun. So for a Mortal they should be perceived as crazy and powerful. I imagined Poseidon just playing with them especially since he waited before killing them and then even asked for Oddys final words

Nice animatic! Just something I wanted to say is that the voices at the beginning are clearly male and you used mermaids XD. Also in other animatics just as an example. From gigi and AnniFlamma they both animated a bunch of ships that were medium sized. I am pointing it out because it doesn't make sense for there to be hundreds of sailors on that small sailboat. If you don't care about realism though then ignore me pointing that out. Great animatic regardless!

They both have their different feels and merits. This one is a villainous unbeatable raid boss with a flair for the dramatic literally having brought backup singers which is amusing. The one I linked seems more regal and subtle at showing their power and divinity (which makes it that much scarier like the depths of the ocean you cannot see and when he acts) while also showing displeasure in various ways. Great work to both creators all the same.
This was the one animatic I've seen before working on this one. It's so insane how vivid and dangerous his animatic feels. But I really tried to do my own approach and im happy you also like it☺
