- This video is a correction to some incorrect information provided in a previous video we posted.
We talk about mapping an area with the Luba 2 robot mower where there is no satellite signal at all.
We also talk about how Luba 2 works when you install the charging station where there is no satellite signal.

Thanks for the in-depth testing you are doing. I was able to put our charging station on the covered patio where we have electrical outlets for a much cleaner install. Before the last firmware update I would have to manually drive the Luba out of the patio until it got good gps to start mowing. I believe this update will solve that. Have to give Mammotion credit for solving problems!

Mammotion are not releasing this as a function yet as it is not 100% reliable.

Got my mower last week, thanks for the quick delivery! This video is timely as I am just building a little garage for Luba. Have a frame built and was just looking at what to clad it with.
I've read previously you shouldn't use colorbond as it blocks the GNSS. The fact that it drives out with no signal would that mean that it should work fine even when docking and undocking in complete dark - as it will get signal as soon as it leaves? . Or would it be safest to go with different materials. Was looking at 4.5mm HardieFlex (fibre cement) but that might also block signal

This is working about 90% reliably. If you do install yours with no GNSS signal on the charger, please send me an email reporting your experience. Or post here what you found.

Just a heads up, mine has been on the charger all night, and this morning my position status went from "fix" to "float" and my camera icone said 82 feet, which is 25 meters. It did not say zero meters BUT I'm in a different situation than your test, mine arrived at the charger with gnss signal, sat in the dark overnight, and simply lost satellite signal because the satilties moved. If this is not a fluke, this is great news for everyone who wants to put the charger up against their house or under a deck where it will get occasional positioning fixes.
Thanks. it sounds like you still have just enough GNSS signal at your charging station for LUBA to occasionally be able to position its self. That is why it shows 82ft on your app. So you should have no issues with it returning to work every day after it goes dark.

How do you reset the charger location when it doesn't have access to satellites? When I've tried it without satellite coverage I get a message that it can't reset the charger location. I'm using the 'reset-charger-location' option in the app. It might be doing that wrong.
You will need to make sure the robot has a good position with a FIX position status on your lawn. Then remote control the robot to the charging station very slowly and reverse it on to the charger. Once it hits the charging contacts it will ask you if you have moved the charger. Click yes to moving the charger and it should then be located in the correct position.
So if I understand it OK, you have to make a corridor/channel from the charging station to the mowing area?

I have seen from other youtubers that the Yuka GNSS receiver doesn't appear to work as well as Luba does for now.
Update it works the first day several times, but overnight it thought it moved out of the area, my current guess is that I still has some GPS reception but bad one and thinks it moved of the charging station
@@headshotke yes my thoughts are the same. Having connection to any satellites and the robot thinks it is outside the area after many hours of not having a fix. Mammotion have said there is a new fw for Luba 2 soon and there are some changes that might help.
Thank you for your video. Sadly, you were right the first time: it doesn't work.
My robot won't leave it's station when there is no or weak sattelite signal, despite what you shown in your video. I'm on the latest firmware and app version.
I contact Mammotion , with a link to this video. The answer was: "GPS is needed to enter or to leave the charging station.". Exact reply below. I don't know why you got it working differently, but I don't and Mammotion confirms it shouldn't work.

Hi. Currently when the LUBA 2 is mowing during daytime operations, even if the RTK signal is weak (showing float or single), the vision module will function effectively, allowing the LUBA 2 to operate smoothly. But the channel that the LUBA return and out the station is still relied on the GPS signal.
And the functions related to the vision module are undergoing further improvements. Thank you for your understanding and patience. Feel free to reach out to us if you require any additional assistance.
Thanks for sharing that. We have been contacted by quite a few people around the world reporting similar results to your. So I have been testing this further to see how reliably it works here in Australia, and the results are that it works about 90% of the time. I have posted another video on this today, so I would very much like to know exactly where your robot fails to reset after it has light again in the morning.

We do talk directly with the Mammotion R&D team and although they are not releasing this function officially, it definitely works here in Australia and hopefully once they lock the position of the robot when it is on the charging station , then it will hopefully work for everyone.

I asked Mammotion this, “Why can’t the mover leave the station with poor positioning. A lot of users have a roof over the mover (or would like a roof). Once the mover leaves the charging station it gets great positioning.”, but got this reply:
“That's because the robot cannot "forecast" if there will be a FIX signal when leaving the dock and what will happen then. Additionally, if there are any unexpected obstacles, it may be at high risk of damaging itself or causing unforeseen damage.”
I then asked what the actual risk is and they said this:
“The LUBA works primarily based on the RTK. This isn't specifically targeted at your situation, but in some cases, users may create a long channel before the LUBA reaches the mowing area.”
I have mine located under the edge of the roof where it says poor signal and it has been working fine.

But there certainly are many people around the world reporting it simply doesn't work for them.
Hopefully Mammotion will lock the position of the robot when on the charging station and it should hopefully then work for every one.
Is it possible that this feature is only available in Australia?
Hmm, for me here in italy, this is not working as shown in the video. But it would be exactly the feature I‘m looking for. :(
