Maximum biodiversity on and around your orchard will bring wonders(natural pest control). One of the most important processes is the creation of ripe compost. Compost heaps composed from many different sources (plant and animal) will bring humus in the top soil eventually creating living soils, which are ultra beneficial for the health of any ecosystem.....That is what I did for many many years with great success. Hope it gives some inspiration.
