The Toyota Land Cruiser Prado is becoming an icon. Today I'm reviewing this 1996 Land Cruiser Prado to explain why people love these so much and what makes it such a good SUV. I'm going to show you the features of this Land Cruiser, and then I'll drive the Land Cruiser Prado and let you know what it's like on the road, and what the Land Cruiser Prado is like off-road.

@@HAHAWTFOMG well the g wagon used to be a great of road car and it was also was meant to be for the military but when mercedes brought it to the usa it started to become a status symbol and got more luxurious and less off road capable

Yeah. I've seen these STATUS guys with a Mercedes and a flat tire on the side of the highway but their boyfriend's are the ones changing out the spare. Lmfao
Mate, I drive a 2020 VDJ76R which is basically the same vehicle but fitted with the venerable 4.5 litre TD V8. You blokes don’t know what you’re missing out on.

The best land cruiser for me ... with 1kz engine
I think this is the only way I can get the four-wheel drive SUV that I want for under 30k, I'm just going to buy it my time and watch the market. I'm curious if they are expensive to maintain stateside

This and the hzj73 you reviewed both had weight adjustable suspension seats. Those seats are amazing if you adjust them to your weight.

Do you know how hard it is finding a decent smaller sized SUV in diesel for the normal US individual. Idk why diesel isn’t more supported for bigger vehicles here
Im currently looking for one in europe, pre 2000 so i can drive it for a few years over here then import it. A lot of them have a significant amout of rust unfortunately.

I heard of JDM a lot, what exactly is it? I just saw one of these today in Greenwich, CT, in sand dune color,MAN! it looks freaking brand new, pulled right next to me 5th gen 4runner. When it turned the corner, the whole tall body tilted to the right....a little scary.

I’m considering buying a 1992 but it has a 2.4 diesel engine. Is that one as good as the 3.0?
No. Has less power and head problems.
Harder time keeping up in traffick too.
I had on of that ( 2.4 Lt or 2LT-E) I never had any problem whit the head, I got it whit 55000km ( also 15 years old in pristine condition )after using it for 13 years I sold it whit 284 689Km never had any issue whit the head. This truck was not design to race that most people do. I knew the complain from some guys, was to slow, yes was to slow and they just push harder the engine, no good/
I took out the EGR, took out the butterfly as well, I install a bigger thermostat ( original 92 C ) the new one 82C, I installed a new exhaust pipe 3" from 1.7" and very short from the turbo out was about 2mt long whit a free flow muffle just ending under my driver seat,. I did install a Temp sensor to monitor the exhaust temp, very important ! I change the silicon from the fan clutch. I did these job almost right after
Is 10 times better than a G wagon!
Not exactly comparable, but not that far of either. But the G is a fantastic truck that’s in a league of its own for better or worse. I love the Prado, but also love the G for different reasons.
That’s coming from someone who has this prado as one of his dream vehicles.

Their basically a pre-prado from what I can tell.
Question is how hard does the maintenance hit your wallet
