OP needs to call out on that evil behavior. OP is now far from being a child and now they realized they’re garbage, but didn’t do anything before? Evil. Horrible parents. They don’t deserve forgiveness. So it’s okay to mistreat a child? No. There’s no excuse. There’s no redo when your child is nearing adulthood.

The parents' explanation and justification for treating OP the way they did all those years was nothing short of insane. They are genuinely evil to reason and think the way they do, and to treat OP that way. And they even admitted that they knew that what they were doing was wrong, but they did it anyway. And then to top the shi-t sandwich off their reasoning for _continuing_ the mistreatment of OP: they didn't want to treat OP to "luxuries" (I guess love and equal treatment is a luxury) because she was so used to being treated like sh-t. Holy effing sh-t. What the actual eff? They're evil.

Hot take: OP's parents should've just given both her and the sister up to parents who would've raised them better because I don't think they have any real business being parents in the first place. With the way they favored the sister, I can't say things will be alright with her because they spoiled her rotten and will probably be a great pain in the ass not just to OP, but possibly to them as well.
