I have nothing against Jeff but I really think PBG is much funnier alone, I feel like PB&Jeff s a bit...overly loud and shouty , though a bit between when they are playing a co-op game. I feel like the solo stuff is so much better and has much more interesting commentary from PBG.
I've suggested they do a Mario 64 online (a hack by Kaze Emanuar) Hardcore, but I don't think he's seen those suggestions. In any case that would be a fifth
You're having trouble with the controls because it wasn't made for a 3ds. It's for a d-pad so it thinks you're pressing two directions at once when you go diagonally.
I can't speak for everyone, but I don't really like watching you suffer as much as I like watching you struggle but then succeed. That's why I'm happy that this is back instead of chaos edition. That chaos edition bullshit got really frustrating to watch because there were so many circumstances where you simply couldn't succeed. It was fun for the first bit just to see what nonsense was in store, but it got old fast and should never really have been considered for a full playthrough.
Your "PBG Sucks at Super Mario 64" series is one of my favorite things on CZcams, and is the thing that made me go from knowing who you were to being a fan. I'm happy to see it return.
Fun fact, yes, Mario's turning is that weird in the original. If you move at your slowest speed, Mario will instantly turn around. If you run, Mario will slide, allowing you to side flip. If you are any speed in between Mario will do an absurdly large semi-circle that more often than not will kill you.

so glad to see this series back! I grew up on this game :) just a tip, if you hold select and start while a DS game is loading on a 3ds it'll play it at the native resolution. the picture will be smaller for you, but it'll be sharper on the capture

the hardest to figure out in the remake are the white rabbits. randomly, one of each playable characters rabbit will be white upon loading a room. finding 8 of these white rabbits will net you a key to the fourth room in the character select area. there's your star. by the way: your completion bonus for ds is... well. even more lackluster than the original. because yoshi is playable.... youll only find luigis last green rabbit up there. .w.
I can partly explain why you wouldn't take damage: it's not the fall that's problematic, it's when the floor stops it! Sure, don't ask me why a single flip works, but as long as you can slow your fall the contact with the ground will be more gentle, except that I played this game a lot and this last second magical flip would be dangerous anyway, more like someone pulling his parachute at the last second. It might be better than doing nothing but there's a reason why you can't wait too long to open your chute if you don't want every bone in your body turned into dust! It takes time for your momentum to be stopped completely, but since Mario's ground pounds breaks the laws of physics he'll be quite okay...

Man the gaming rust is on full display for this video. whether you do all remaining stars or not, here is a tip when you do red coin missions there is a red bomb somewhere in the level that will show you were the red coins are on your map. Also cool to see solo Peeb video again, not saying I hate PB&Jeff it's great, it's also nice to see these once in a while.
You know, maybe it's not fair to say this, considering the game was made at the launch of the DS, but...I kinda wish this game looked a little nicer. I know the original N64 version doesn't look great either, but it just felt cleaner. The textures look so rough here. It's a shame, too...I feel like a lot of the changes made for the DS release were really interesting, but it just always looked so...unappealing to me, I guess? I'd love to see a release of this with the resolution and textures cleaned up a bit. Of course, I think fans have been asking for a cleaned up rerelease of SM64 for a long time now, so...
There's a way to get a free star, if you hadn't gotten this star already, you can talk to the Toad in the hallway (the one where Tall, Tall Mountain's painting is) after you exit the spiral stairs to get a star.
All 150 stars? May the Sand Bird have mercy on your soul. For future reference, the reason the controls are so janky in this version of the game is because it was made for the DS, not the 3DS. It's programmed to work with a D-pad, which limits your movement options compared to the 360 degree rotation of the N64's analog stick. You're probably using the analogue on your 3DS, which works, but you can still only move in eight directions, so your movement doesn't always mesh perfectly with your input. Hope that helps.
Always do red coin stars and 100 coin stars at the same time. Collecting all the red coins is usually required to get the 100 coin star anyway since they count for 2 coins.
