How to calculate Standard deviation, Variance and Mean in Casio 991 ES Plus

- In statistics, the standard deviation (SD, also represented by the Greek letter sigma σ or the Latin letter s) is a measure that is used to quantify the amount of variation or dispersion of a set of data values.
Variance is the expectation of the squared deviation of a random variable from its mean, and it informally measures how far a set of (random) numbers are spread out from their mean.
This video will show you how to calculate variance, standard deviation and average in Casio 991 ES Plus calculator.
Be careful:
-dx is the standard deviation of the population (uses N as denominator)
-sx is the standard deviation of the sample (uses N-1 as denominator)
So either way you'll have to make it ^2 in order to have the variance, which will be respectively the Var of population or of the sample.

My goodness… i suck at knowing the capabilities of my calculator. Thanks this was very helpful, I used to manually input the values of x and x bar etc, to solve SD it was very stressful and inconvenient since we always had limited time in tests
Guys there is a mistake in this clip, sigma x @2:30, is not variance. It calculates standard deviation in case the data you used is population. which is different from Sx, sample standard deviation. Be aware

where as sx is the sample standard deviation having denominator of n-1
make it correct..
variance is nothing but standard deviation^2
that's not variance. It's Population Standard Deviation. Moreover, variance is the square of SD which is obviously not true in that case

Variance is wrong! For variance you have to square the standard deviation (sx). I'm pretty sure óx is population standard deviation
