Well,this is curious. The link on the Claw page does not download the file that you show in the video. It downloads a different widower called D3DWindower which from what i can see at the end of it's readme.txt it's japanese. Some things are not translated and appear as a bunch of symbols instead. At least that's what happened to me.
Also none of the two versions of the program that i downloaded elsewhere have the same Add menu that yours have. I tried with the three of them but none make Claw work. Don't know what the problem is

I tried the windowed program and game didn't want to start. After i tried to get the 1.4.3 version but that didn't turn out well either since chrome blocked the download saying is dangerous.I can play the game using the 64 bits installer and the 1.3 update but the game runs incredibly slow like is covered in tar or something on win 10 64 bits.
You can use github.com/narzoul/DDrawCompat for more smooth play and full screen mode and better resolution

I should fly to Poland only to huge you. Thanks a lot for this. I downloaded the full version of Claw over a year ago only to find that it didn't work, to my disappointment. The only reason i keep the download is so that i can listen to the music when i want without going to youtube xD.
3 questions: Have you tried any downloaded custom map just to see if there's any problems?
If i make a custom map do i send it to you or to Teo Phil?
The Claw version available for download is the nerfed one? Cuz i wanted to play it with the original boss damage
+Gamator 1. custom maps should work perfectly. 2. you can send the map to anybody, teo phil is more likely to put it on the website :D 3. no, this version is 'easier' one, the very first version of Claw is said to be extremely hard, that's why it got the update.

There's a little problem Claw 1,4 start with 6 lifes and Claw takes less damage from the enemies, i don't want a play the easier version. The original start with 2 lifes

I have downloaded the game from different source...it also runs on full screen...but the " processing " of game is kind of slow...i.e. doesnt respond instantly when control keys are pressed, so isnt fun to play. Im using window 10..can anyone suggest some solutions...?

Hi, i downloaded the crazyhook today and it plays very smooth. Unlike the version i downloaded off the official CD which was very laggy on my laptop. Is it possible to add Polish text and sound files to the crazyhook one?

Is there a way to integrate the cutscenes back into the CD rip version? I tried using the DVD versions on the web, but they're all sluggish when you get in game. The rip+DX Windower combo is the only one that's worked so far.

Hello, I keep on having problems with the game when I try to run it. When open the DSDWindower-English.exe and add claw and then try to play it, it gives me the Application Error (0xc0000022). Do you have any ideas on how to fix this so I can play it. I am running it on Windows 10 and I am using 7zip to extract it.

I finally managed to get claw to work on my windows 8.1 !

When running this inside the d3dWindower you should have DirectDraw Emulation DISABLED. (open CLAWADV.exe). (60 FPS)
I have nVidia btw: the only setting i think may matter is the vSync. I havnt changed anything on this part but still..
Vertical Sync : Use the 3D application setting.
I can run this in fullscreen aswell using the fullscreen tool:

Last note. I reinstalled windows and tried to install claw pretty soon after that. I can kind of play claw without the d3dWindower (30 FPS). But then I need to ENABLE the setting: DirectDraw Emulation (CLAWADV.EXE). A problem with this is if I alt+tab the game will screw up (3k+ FPS). Colors messes up badly and it crashes shortly after.

well, i must say i used to have a lot more spare time to take care of Claw and my site while i was a student, now as an adult i found this 1 hour to prepare the video and that's it I guess :(
there is so many things to come about Claw but the community is distracted and unstable, so we are not able to create anything well-organized such as mixed levels (thanks to zax37 and his crew it is possible to combine everything for example all enemies in one level!)

I had windows 7, it worked with no problems on my pc. Full screen and all that. but your rip didn't work. I went to piratebay and downloaded from there, a .iso file containing the game and extras (all custom lvls, art work, etc.) and it worked. the download link you have on your site, worked the first time I installed it, then I had some problems, re-installed windows, the game didn't work anymore until I found it on piratebay. now I run on linux, and I don't know how to open iso files, the rip from your site doesn't open either, so someone gave me a rip they found somewhere, it's the first version, but I don't know if it is because linux or the rip, but when I trigger those moving platforms from the game, the platform barely moves

yeah, the rip is not the only version, but it's the quickest way to play Claw when you want to bring some childhood memories back. i also recommend to download full dvd version from torrents.

Hey, i just can't seem to get Captain Claw running properly on Windows 10 whatever i try, even tried the most recent download posted from the 10th October and it still has issues within the game :(
Hi. I have a problem. Very annoying one. I searched the whole web, tried everything, but I didn't find any solution. I have windows 7 ultimate 64 bit, ATI driver (using a laptop btw) and I tried downloading both 1.3 rip version and 1.4.3 from your site and both run the same way. The game works fine apparently, but it took me a whole terrible gameplay to find out that claw doesn't jump high enough. You can barely tell the difference but it's a pretty big deal, when it comes to secret areas and hard jumps it's impossible to make it. I tried everything, starting from game settings to windower, and the thing is, that after messing with the settings, sometimes it randomly fixes, but as soon as I reopen the game with the same settings he jumps low again. This is so annoying, I don't know what to do, I don't really know what the problem is, but it's something related to windows compatibility I think, however, changing windows compatibility instantly crashes the game. Any help would be appreciated.

I think this is an issue with laptops, I have a similar problem, the actual issue is that claw's movement in terribly slow which causes small jumps (you must be the one like me to face problem while playing the ending part of caverns where we have to catch ladders far off). The bug although gets randomly fixed, I never tried messing up with the settings except for altering the sound effects. Have you found a solution to this yet? Somebody must help us. :(

i downloaded it and it gave me a spark of hope
the screen started flashing as if it's going to work then it gave me an error saying "unable to load the resource file. (1003)"

@@energygameplay6513 Because this game is old, it was optimized for old low end PCs like Windows XP and Windows 98. Modern computers are gonna struggle to run the game properly since the game can't optimize well to the system.

If you're not sure, pick the first link on top of the page (Claw v1.4.3 'CrazyHook'). It's the full version of the game, including the latest update and the windower program. You don't even need to install it, just unpack the archive (using WinRAR or 7-Zip) into a folder of your choosing.

The video is admittedly a bit confusing. It mentions DirectX Windower, but shows DXWnd, which is a different program that's actually not available on the Claw Recluse and that doesn't work with Claw for me. Simply get DirectX Windower from the Downloads section, then go to Technical Support and follow instructions at the top of the page.
I tried both and nothing happens :( what can I do? I have a 64 bits windows 10 Asus.
Are you perhaps clicking that blue 'play' button in DirectX Windower? You only need to double-click the entry for Claw within its window, nothing more. Well, at least that's the only way I've been able to get it to work (tested on Windows 7 and 10, both 64-bit versions).

I tried using the dxwnd app and also d3dwindower app (everything was in japanese and I don't know the language so was hard to follow the tutorial for it xD). Where did you download the app from?
EDIT: The d3dwindower app that is under downloads on the website doesn't seem to be the same as shown in this video, it is DirectX Windower v1.88. Also, when did the installation ask you for the registration key, I didn't get that when installing the game.

Claw doesn't really support higher resolutions very well. The main menu is hardcoded for 640x480, for instance, and the only way to increase resolution is in game, cycling through available display modes with the MPINCVID cheat code. Instead, you can download a tool from the Claw Recluse that lets you force full screen mode while still running the game through DirectX Windower and retaining its other benefits, such as making the game actually playable for many people.

Ghaster No problem. I tried it a while ago but I think you have to be in range with whoever you’re playing with. I think there’s a way around that so you don’t have to be in range but I still don’t know yet sorry.
