Disclaimer: the eye is a bit more complicated and this video is grossly simplifying it to make it more digestible.

This one is actually a quick tip not like the others they call it quick but they take 10 minutes to explain how does the light hits the eye
About that I trick though, I very much purposefully stylize my eyes in my characters. I know most manga characters have the inverted look in the eyes, but I choose to make it the surface of the eye, simply because I like it better. It's a part of my style, along with you know, large eyeballs, and everything else that goes with manga?
@the art gal I just want to explain for a moment, sorry for making this post, I just wanted it to be very much known that, there isn't simply one way to shade things. I guess I've gotten a lot of backlash for the way I draw, I don't know, maybe other people are jealous or feel bad about their own artwork, so then they projected onto other people? I grew up with some criticism, but I think we have the support for my mother to follow my own heart, and follow my own art journey, which is honestly how I teach other people art when people come to me with questions.
@the art gal was that okay that I explained?
@the art gal oh okay sorry. I guess I have just been hearing a lot of critique for my artwork, so the lowdown is, I'm trying to express the fact that, there's not one way to do it, and I just want that to be known for my sake and any other artists sake that might come into this comment section.
@the art gal I'm sorry to hear that :-( just know that, if you didn't ask for it, it was completely rude for that person. I wish you well on your art journeys :-)
The beauty of this channel is you can never tell whether or not the videos are going to be a joke or some of the most helpful tips you'll ever come across on CZcams.
even the jokes can be pretty helpful though, which is great.

Ikr? Some people be doing 10-30 min vid about it like we got the time to watch LMAO
Some of the vids i saw was like
"Quick tip on how to bla bla bla" and it takes like 10 mins and in that 10 mins i already got bored before even got to the half of the vid
I don't have much patient

I like how this person isn't all like "You've been shading eyeballs WRONG" And makes a 25 minute video teaching you how to do it "right". Instead this dude explains how eyes to shade eyes to make them more realistic and makes a 51 second video explaining it. My respect.
I do feel like you can be a bit harsh at times, but I do appreciate he's never telling anybody that they're doing it the wrong way, he's just showing a different approach. To be honest though, I do feel like you should be a bit more open towards other art styles, for example I purposely draw the people and Iris on the surface of the eyeball, simply because it looks better with my style. I want the eyes to be very much noticed and seen from all angles, meaning that people and iris, I don't want them inverted. They are the main form of expression in my characters, and I want that to be very much noticed at a profile angle of their faces, with their eyes pointing forward. This is harder to accomplish when you are drawing a stylized character and decide to do inverted eyes, you know the natural thing.
@@otakumangastudios3617 I don't care what art style people draw in as long as they enjoy what their doing. And I'm not critiquing anyone for how they draw eyes. I simply don't care. What I'm saying is that some people make "tutorials" that are extremely and unnecessarily long when it can be just a simple less then 5 minutes long video. That's all I'm saying.
@@AUBREY-ml4ex oh I told to get what you're saying, and I just wanted to cover myself and my bases, because I guess it's just recently, like everyone wants to let me know what their thoughts are on my art style, and want to tell me what's right and wrong and stuff. Sorry that I threw that baggage on you, life has been hard a bit lately
The others are 5 min longer too because "This video was sponsored by Raid Shadowlegends" or whatever the fuck
@@otakumangastudios3617 It's okay, I get it. Sorry if I came off as rude and I'm sorry life has been tough for you. I hope it gets better.
As a person who can't handle 10 minute tutorials for art because of ADHD (main reason why I hardly improve) this is the FIRST video where I actually learned something. Thank you so so so much, please make more if you can
I don't do tiktok, but they're usually short videos. There's bound to be someone there who makes short tutorials as talented as this guy. Expand your boundaries. You'll do great
I too have ADHD and those kinds of videos can be boring to me as well. I can barely handle a five minute video so the fact that this video gets straight to the point and is less than a minute is just amazing.
@@chrono-glitchwaterlily8776 ohh rip I don't go on tiktok
I can't handle any tutorial that takes more than exactly 2 minutes
Maybe try putting the video on 2x speed?
I was kind of confused when I read the title as "Quick tips for trading eyes"

I love how utterly bored he sounds, like “are you idiots done shading your eyes wrong? Okay, good, here’s how it’s done.”
Ah, this came at the perfect time! Now, Mike shall be complete...

"YEEEAAAAAAOOOOOWW"
I'll be watching Wazowski. Always watchjng
This dude has just taught me more in 50 seconds than I have ever learned I’m my entire art corse
I've literally dissected multiple eyes for my bachelor's and was fully aware of all the intricacies of their shape and structures. However, I've also just always mindlessly drawn eyes the exact same way I did before being aware of how eyes be simply because I hadn't thought of what it actually meant drawing wise.
I’ve been doing this the whole time, but still a great tip for beginners! I always thought of it as the dark part just needs some light and I’ve been thinking that’s just how it worked ever since.learned it from anime
Bro anime doesent always draw accurate look at toe is quality before dbs brolly they were in a pile of filth when it came to art. Reference art of of manga instead

thank you for the tips as always stranger who i keep seeing community posts from! :O
this was even useful for 3d modeling
it's funny how these quick videos are more helpful than those 10 minute videos
LMFAO WHAT-
THIS ACTUALLY IMPROVED MY EYE DRAWING SO MUCH THAT MY FRIENDS ARE LITERALLY PRAISING ME EVERY TIME I SEND THEM MY WIPS-
IKR, LIKE WTF?! THIS IS GREAT!
I never actually realized thats how the light catches on them... this is really good advice!
I learned this while observing my cat's eyes
My eyes have just opened for the day and this is a blessing to wake up to.
omg that makes so much sense. Such a simple thing that breathes new life into drawings, will definitely keep this in mind going forward!
Thank you for this, its one of those things you don't realize your doing but then when someone says it, your like ohhhhhh.
Damn, this just helped me fix my drawings faster than a snap.
i can barely draw anything digitally but this is still really helpful.
thank the gods its not a 20 minute long video for a simple thing, i love your videos dude :D
“The iris is a cup and the pupil is in the cup” is legit amazing advice, look up as many eye tuts as you can. It completely changed how good I could get my eyes to look. Seriously do this
This was actually a big help I always wondered why whenever I drew my eyes they looked off
Really love clear, concise, and informative tutorial like this. You got my sub, keep going!
This is actually a really good tip, quickly explained, straight to the point, easy to understand. Many young artists will learn some from this for sure. Great job, I'll be glad to see more of these :D
we need no fancy art tutorial, we need something like this, easy to understand and direct to the point.
This person is able to create super helpful content. They just cut straight to the point. I honestly love this channel, it's so underrated.
I can tell from ur accent that ur Filipino. Am I correct?
If I am, then I’m glad that my country has talented artists.

I hope I’m correct cuz if I’m not then I’ll be extremely embarrassed 😅😅😅

In his about page it says that he is from the phillipines
You should check #artph, twitter has a big filipino artist community.

I like how this ones actually a QUICK tip
I really love your stuff man, your face shading tutorial also helped me a ton.
Keep up this quick and easy to understand content!
helpful as always.
Its crazy how these 30-50 second videos help me more then a entire tutorial, thank you
Good to know and remember. The iris goes inwards rather than continuing the shape of the sclera. I'm gonna see if I can print that into my understanding of the eye for future drawings.
This is quickest, most useful tip i have witnessed period
Basically, wherever the highlight is, the opposite side of that is where the iris is lightest
That last goodbye felt hard.
I'm actually in shock, this is so simple, thank you for the tip!
I finally found a channel with quick art tips that are legitimately quick...I have no patience for art tutorials where the narrator blabs on and on. You get right to the point and I learned just as much as I would have in a 20 minute video THANK YOU
I like how he says goodbye so simple but leaves a big impact
Love how concise you were about it.
But also live that quick sudden "Goodbye".
The "I've made my point, see yah!" 🤣
I love the blunt “goodbye” at the end. 😭
This is the most satisfying voice I have ever heard ngl.
i love this channel. Just what we need short tutorial to save time
It's actually really awesome to have a video with useful information presented so succinctly that it's less than a minute long.
This is amazing, it actually helped and isn't dragged out into a documentary
I like this because I didn’t even need audio to understand the lesson and learn . Thanks! :D
Thank you so much for this tip, I’m glad that there are tips that take only seconds to explain rather than 20 minutes
This guy managed to teach me something I know I should've known from my interest in eyes and art, but I never thought of before! Thanks!
he is so emotionless
I love it😂
makes it funny yet informative
The way you explain things is just the right amount for me to understand
Very nice
His "goodbye" sounds so chill
It's infuriating how good this is.
Amazing, i got to learn more than i do in school AND see great art
Wow, this is amazing. All the attention to scientific accuracy in the art field is great! 😊
In art, you kinda have a taste of everything. Anatomy, physics, architecture, photography, psychology, etc.
@@leah8894 yeah, it's great! I realise that my perspective of art had been very shallow
I feel like I needa send this to people who are confused on how light bounces back through my left eye, because it's loosing pigment. Here is the shape. You explained so well!
The tip regarding the reflection being based off the light source shape is something I somehow forgot about but glad to have remembered all thanks to this video, good stuff man.
This was a great tutorial, straight to the point, simple, easy to understand and actually effective
This better than those video that take 10min to go into the point
Very good explanation. Also everyone, keep in mind that the pupil is a hole that gets bigger or smaller depending on whether the scene is well lit or dim lit
I guess I always saw drawings of eyes like this and just went with it. Now I actually know why! Thanks!
This is the greatest 1 minute tutorial I've seen, thanks a lot
Thank you making these tutorials short and simple dang
Short, sweet, and to the point, great vid
I've been doing this i didn't even know that, since I've just been using references and see how other people do it
This is amazing, i knew it was a dome but didn't think the shadow and reflection on the iris did that.
I always put the highligh randomly.
Thank you so much!!
The first CZcams art tip my brain had fully understood and accepted. Thank you sir.
This is actually really good, it gets straight to the point and it's really useful tysm for making this video, i didn't even knew i was making it wrong
Thank you so much for explaining this. Now i know the form of the pupil, it'll be easiest to shade.
This makes so much sense, that's why eyes can sometimes look flat and fake!
You've just changed my entire understanding of the world
WHAT? Did I just watch a 50 sec video and learn more than from a whole eye tutorial playlist? :,D I'm shocked and thank you!
First time i saw a tut explaining how light actually hits the eye FINALLY
Actually going to learn to do this constantly. Looks great.
I have just learned more in 10 seconds than I have watching hundreds of 10-30 minute videos. If that doesn't deserve a sub, I don't know what does!
This actually really helpful, thanks youtube for recommending me.
Best digital art tip channel EVER
This really makes eyes look so much better
The eye is too good
i actually just learned something new, i never knew he eye was like that
Honestly I’m so glad I learned this stuff earlier recently cause it honestly has helped me
This is actually really helpful. Thank you for the short and sweet tip!
Thank you so much!! I actually found this unintentional but this is a big help, and I'm going to go fix some of my art-
That's a really quick tip but also an absolutely amazing one. Nice
Wait this is actually genius u are so good at teaching better than most teachers
This is why i love this channel
Straight to the point
Nothing I didn't already know, but the recommendation of making different shaped hilights is something that just about every other tutorial missed, and showing the eyeball and a... Well ball, instead of just a closeup of a face, really drives home that the shadows should be opposing in most cases.
I just learned more than my art teacher would teach us in a year
You give the best art tips . Easy and fast
Okay, wow.
This was actually helpful...
What a well mannered young man saying goodbye at the end
Holly Molly, dude, I legit learn more in this 50 second video, than any other 1 hour video....like, wtf.

I just learned more about eyes from this one video than I have in my whole life
