    That is some fine work, nice tool. The way you worked the steel with a hacksaw and files was impressive. Never underestimate the usefulness of hand tools.

    I have been an engineer for 26 years and I still can't cut that straight with a hacksaw. Top man.

      Most of the engineers sit behind the desk doing calculations, writing proposals, drawing up plans or doing field testing so the majority of them don't do stuff like that at work. Plus the unions won't allow the engineers to fabricate anything.

    WOW! That is HEAVY DUTY! The sole and chip breaker are STOUT. The iron doesn't look too bad, either. I imagine you won't get much chatter with that. Beautiful work!

    Beautiful plane. That metal work is excellent particularly when it was done by hand rather than a milling machine. That hack saw work would have exhausted me.

    Excellent craftsman! I'm too old to use a hacksaw for that, switched to a portable band saw a few years ago.

    Good build. That has got to be the V-8 of Chisel Plane's! The bed, which is the sole being Stainless Steel. Make this one of the strongest I've seen in material. Again, good build.

    Extraordinary craftsmanship!!!!That is a beautiful and perfect cutting plane!
    For the 1/4 20 tap did you use a 13/64 drill bit? And for the 3/8 16 tap did you use a 5/16 drill bit?.

    Nice! I bet it’s very heavy (twice that of the Lie-Nielsen?). I’m currently working on some large tenons and would like to be able to plane the cheeks along the grain all the way upto the shoulders.

    Very nice job....try burnishing the wood with a piece of dry twig or branch.....rubbing hard makes a finish that needs no varnish.

    you have so many kinds of power tools , like bandsaw etc, but you dont have an angle grinder, great hacksaw work!

    that's a really sharp looking plane. i like the fact that you took the time to make it look as good as it does. it looks like it wants to be kissed. I'd go one more step, and really polish that thick metal retainer block on top there and put a mirror finish on it so it reflects a lot of light. spray it with a clear spray. drill that round grain pine grain on the handle and replace it with a piece of darker wood like walnut or mahogany. seal it, and polish it. then hide that plane someplace good., because if i see it, I'm taking it. i wont steal it, beacuse I'll tell you I'm taking it......but I'm gonna take it. can you tell i really like the fantastic job you did. you made me want to make one.
