    I stumbled upon this totally by accident, and now I'm hooked! This is the third time I've watched it. What an absolute class act Grace Petrie is. Great songs, great band, engaging patter. Consummate professional. I'm now a fan!

      Yes, there are so many good folk festivals in the UK at different times of the year. The quality of performances never disappoints.The smaller ones are friendly and the performers are very accessible. Several years ago when Grace played Hartlepool folk festival, I found her outside the hall after her set talking with the interested. When things open up again, this website will be useful to follow. ukfolkfestivals.co.uk/england.php

    This is a great recording Before Lockdown I discovered Grace Petrie and had seen her four times in a year. I had 4 tickets to see her last May...how I am missing the live performance. She is fabulous and her audiences are lovely. When I first went to see her, I thought I might (as a 68 year old straight man) feel out of place, but right form the start of the gig I felt included. She is magic.

    I assumed A Young Woman's Tale was written by Grace. "Learned from Roy Bailey" meaning learned from him how to write such a song? She seems to have songwriting down okay on her own...

    • @nsiepmann
      @nsiepmann Před 3 lety +2

      I’m pretty sure it’s Grace’s lyrics as a contemporary reworking of Ian Campbell’s ‘An Old Man’s Tale’, which is a great bit of storytelling about the poor being sent off to war after war - def worth a look!
