  • picked up this really nice old cletrac crawler, if your interested in some of the photos and information I got with the crawler, stick around till the end.
Unfortunately, I didn't really get to use this crawler as much as id hoped, although when I did use it, it was the right tool for the job.
There will be a future video all about the Ford 1310 diesel tractor i traded for the crawler.
Check out the channel for all my other videos.

I sure hope you sell it to someone who will take care of it, these are being cut up for scrap every day and that needs to be stopped! Lots of equipment being scraped and I hope there are more people rescuing them out there! Equipment that made HISTORY! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👌🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Don't worry about it I am 18 and I am doing my part to save antique equipment I am working on a 1953 td9 international crawler with a loader and it's been sitting in a horse pasture for 45 years and needed a carburetor so I tracked one down from a salvage yard and I have it almost running it has spark at the points but I think the cap is not working because of a small Crack in it so I have a new one coming and the starter stopped working so I took it of and I sent it to be rebuild and should have it back in a week I have also replaced the battery cables the had the coating coming off and got hit easily one I get it to have spark to the plugs I can switch it to run on diesel because it's a start on gas run on diesel, it's like internationals version of caterpillar pony motor , I have 2 months to get it back together and working before I have to leave to go to the Marines I want to serve my country and learn more about diesel engines, I have several other tractors I been working on farms for other people as manual labor since 12 to 18 and I have bought 4 other 1950s tractors a 1959 861 fordpower master tractor and a 1951 44 massey harris and a 1951 u Minneapolis Moline and a 1954 wd45 allis chalmers and a few attachments for the tractors. I live on a farm, and we have a few pigs and cows, so I use them to square bail hay and grind feed and lots of other things. My dad has tractors too, but they all are a little newer and 55hp, and up mine are like 35 to 45 hp.

We had a 1918 Cletrac crawler and used it for everything from plowing to haying to hauling logs. It was a beast. Hard to start when it was hot though. Finally sold it in the early 70's, still going strong.

I found one of those back in the late 70s. I put a Datsun 510 engine it. It did a lot of work for me. I believe mine had the narrow track because it had the U frame and pusher blade.
Someone said the old English Ford 4 cylinder engines would bolt up into them, like the Consul perhaps?? I never confirmed it. I happened to have a wrecked Datsun wagon with a good engine so I adapted it. I cut the bell housing off the Datsun transmission and welded a U joint to the back of the tranny input shaft to mate with the very short drive shaft. It was quite a contraption with no governor but it worked and didn’t cost but a few Canadian dollars to put it together.
Sold it to a friend when we left Falkland BC. I’m sure he did a lot more work with it.

You know what I hate the most is when I see an excavator with a bucket that has tons of slack in it and you can obviously see the bucket rattling around and even hear it! You know at one time it was tight and I know it’s because of neglected maintenance, someone was too freaking lazy to grease it every morning or evening when the day was done! I’ve greased tractors that had a hundred grease points and that was easy evening or morning, that’s what I call really maintaining an expensive piece of equipment and everyone should do the same! Just my opinion my friend! When one piece of it wears out and it’s not replaced it’s obvious that it won’t be long before another piece is going to start wearing out! It’s like a domino effect and it takes common sense! 👌🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Those track rollers are oiled filled. By greasing them you have shortened there life span, they should have button head fittings not grease zerks. It is also an EHG (pretty rare) not an AG and runs and drives like a champ. Someone has put some time and effort into the old girl 👍also they are 2 speed diff steer meaning what you did loading it ontop of those timbers couldve gone wrong real quick as it puts power to the easiest spinning track (one track speeds up and one track slows down but cannot stop) not both evenly, the same with all Cletrac's.

We used 90wt in the rollers and front idler on our cletracs. What I thought was interesting is the front idlers-have never seen solid one piece idlers on a cletrac. Also they are larger diameter than normal.

My dad ran one in his logging jobs. I remember the JXC being his and the one he prefered was a JXD for diesel engine model... one very powerful little machine that was a bit fast or should of had lower gear speeds some way

That crawler is the perfect equipment for pulling stuck vehicles out of muddy, and soft dirt roads. Be careful with it.
