  • In today's video I move in to my first apartment for the spring 2021 semester with my service dog, Zenith. I am a junior in college, and I am living in an on campus apartment with my guide dog. All of my classes this semester will be virtual, but I decided to move back to campus so I can walk Zenith around the city regularly to keep up his training. He's been in the suburbs for 10 months now, and I felt that he needed to get back to more high stakes work to keep up his training.
    I hope you are all doing ok in these strange times.

    So happy for you that you got to go back. I know you really miss being there and that was something you were looking forward to. Do you go to Penn State? What are you studying? I’m glad Zenith likes his new dog bed. He was so funny when you you put it in the crate, he pickeded his head up for a minute then put it back down on his paws again as if to say, I’ll let her do all the work and then get a check it out when she’s done. Do you think it’ll be hard for you to get enough work with him on campus since all your classes online? I wish you the best of luck with the semester.

    She doesn't seem blind. She has a great sense of direction, hence the rearranging the apartmen so easily.

    From one blind handler to another, what is your plan since your classes are virtual to get him enough work? I’ve been thinking a lot about my Guide dog and her workload a d consistency with virtual classes. Love the video!

      I just plan to take him on walks around campus. Last semester I was taking him on walks around our neighborhood, but there wasn't much for him to do because we lived in the middle of nowhere. Now that we're back on campus at least there are obstacles, streets to cross, dog distractions, etc. He also naturally has more to do at school than home. For example, he has to guide me to the trashcan everyday to throw out his poop, and he has to take me to pick up packages regularly. Good luck to you and your pup!

    It’s really awesome that you got to move in to the college dorm was it scary to be by yourself in a living in a College dorm?

    • @fromkaytozee8132
      @fromkaytozee8132  Před 3 lety +2

      I don't think it's scary. I like that in the dorm there's always someone there. We have an RA always on call, someone is always at the front desk, and security guards are at the entrance 24/7. A big part of why I picked to stay on campus was all of the supportive people around.

      @@fromkaytozee8132 That’s awesome and sure having Zenith is really helpful. I saw your bed for him to lay on, we had a golden who loved the Serta Quilted Orthopedic Bolster Bed. All of our dogs love their serta bed.

    Hello so I’m wondering how do you cook in your apartment and in your kitchen does your stove or microwave have any tactile dots or how do you know what the numbers and how do you know where or what setting to put your stove on your oven on?

    I’m kinda confused not saying you aren’t disabled but I’m confused on the loss of sight but you can still see it seems? You said your blind but I’m so confused how you read the time too?

    • @fromkaytozee8132
      @fromkaytozee8132  Před 3 lety +3

      This is a super common misconception about blindness. About 90% of blind people have some amount of remaining vision, so the vast majority of blind people can see something sometimes. I made a whole video about my vision impairment if you're interested in learning more about my vision specifically- czcams.com/video/tQ1uStbOk2M/video.html
