After suffering a world record 31-0 defeat at the hands of Australia in 2001, American Samoa officially became the worst international football team in the world. With just one month to prepare for the World Cup qualifiers, they bring in maverick Dutch coach Thomas Rongen. He discovers that his team of endemic losers includes an emotionally scarred goalkeeper and the first transgender player ever to play international football. This is not going to be easy.
In the year of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Finals where competing nations' hopes and dreams will be realised, or more likely be shattered, Next Goal Wins is a funny and moving reminder that if you thought your national team was bad, you ain't seen nothing yet.
