He lost the emerald in Sonic Advance 3, not in Sonic Advance, and that was because Dr. Eggman pushed a button which separated Knuckles and the Master Emerald apart by warping reality. Honestly the real Knuckles wouldn't lie about it. He was always known to be brutally honest.

The reason why Protoman lost is because he’s so unstable (hence “proto”, like a prototype). I think he could have won if he didn’t have such an unstable core. He’s an expert at combat. He was trained to be better than the robot masters, but Knuckles is just too strong I guess

For anyone complaining about this being one sided, Knuckles literally beats Proto man in one punch when they fight in the official Sonic x Megaman comic crossover. So this kinda accurate tbh.

Yes it does lol. Just because protoman was being controlled into going against the good guys doesn’t change the fact that he was defeated by Knuckles in one punch.
To be fair the comics are diffrent from the games, especially for the Sonic characters where their Archie comic versions are far more powerfull then their video game counterparts.

Knuckles is easily one of the main Sonic casts strongest. He has only lost to Sonic once canonically (Sonic 3) and that one time he was fighting against Sonic and Tails. Pretty much every fight Sonic and Knuckles have afterwards ends in a stalemate or is interrupted, especially in the many comics and tv shows. Knuckles also isn’t stupid, he’s gullible. Not that it even matters since it’s been shown that he’s a martial arts master despite the fact.
Plus, in the Archie comics when Knuckles was forced to fight protoman in the Sonic and megaman crossover, Knuckles defeated him in a single punch. So yeah...
Protoman isn’t as strong as Megaman but he isn’t weak by any means. Just being comparable to Megaman makes Protoman one of the most powerful Robot masters of their time.
I'm a bigger fan of knuckles but this felt like an unfair stomp on the animators part. Protoman gets whacked around but the moment he gets one punch in, its back to getting smacked around.
